With 6 players departing (5 senior, 1 Cat B), 1 addition via trade, assuming 3 draftees…we will have 1-2 list spots open for DFA or SSP.
Should we consider James Stewart?
Delisted, contracted for 2024, hence Essendon will pay his salary next year.
Absolute free hit.
Offer him a 1 year deal with...
1. The Daicos Boys: Josh has taken another step & Nick…well, he is Nick
2. Cameron/Cox combo: Providing great Ruck & around the ground marking presence
3. The arrival of Lippa: a great addition to our on ball brigade
4. Ginnivan & Henry arrival & goal kicking ability
5. Murphy has slotted in...
I understand the falling feathers represent the change the Club is going through…shedding old feathers…growing new feathers…Do Better Report, new Committee, Management, Coaches & players.
Or is it because we were attacked by Tigers & Dogs the last 2 weeks…only feathers remaining?
Anderson announced at the recent AGM that the club will soon announce a new major sponsor (Collingwood home base Naming Rights sponsor, finally replacing Holden).
”Watch this space” was his quote.
Who could it be?
Another Motor Vehicle Company?
Another Financial Institution or Bank?
An IT or...
Some have been allocated already, some are a guess.
1 Lipinski
15 Kreuger
16 Henry
19 Draper
24 Poulter
27 Murley
35 Daicos N
36 Harrison
43 Dean
Edit - most of the confirmed numbers come from Jen’s training observations.
The 4 new draftees (after Daicos) are a guess
Currently on 295.
Only 5 more games to go.
A huge effort. First since Tony Shaw.
Unfortunately it will be our first final (Elimination?), so hope it’s a good one for him.
After Round 17 (16 games)
31 WHE
27 Thomas
26 De Goey
25 Stephenson
50 From the other midfielders (Treloar/Pendles/Philips/Adams/Grundy/Sidebottom)
35 From Cox/Mihocek/Reid/Moore (tall forwards)
A much better spread compared to previous years (although still a long way short of...
The primary reason for our success so far this year is mainly due to improvement in a bunch of our players (plus more consistency).
De Goey: has stepped up this year...announced himself as a real player...goal kicker
Grundy: has taken his game to another level, ruck dominance plus being another...
Collingwood VFL have a bye in round 15...
So no return for Elliott & Aish, plus no 2nd VFL game for Moore.
What a disaster.
This pushes their possible return to AFL back another week.
How to plan & operate a Professional AFL team with this VFL circus...
I’m writing to my Congressman!

Varcoe will come back in...is Blair then in the gun?
Or a poor performing player or an injury (touch wood).
Or some other team balance omission.
We shall have a better idea in about 26 hours.
He is much maligned on this forum, however he has been selected consistently since mid 2010.
He obviously ticks many boxes.
Although, other players now yapping at his heels.
I think he needs to continue applying forward pressure, however he must either kick more goals or goal assists.
We have until a week prior to first bounce 2017 to upgrade a nominated rookie.
Current list: 39 senior, 5 Rookie Cat A, 1 Rookie Cat B
Normally we judge the preseason performances to gauge.
Although, sometimes immediate list needs may influence (back up Ruck?).
Cat A: Thomas, McCarthy, Schade...
He is our only nominated next generation academy player.
If no club selects him on Mondays Rookie draft, we can auto Rookie him as Cat B.

Tennant Creek youngster Isiah Farrell-Nelson will be key against St Mary’s in the NTFL finals

March 1...
Now we have 39 senior players? Including Rookie upgrades Keeffe & Smith.
So do we:
- add a DFA & go with 40 & 4 (draft 3 new rookies)
- Go with 39 & 5 with a nominated rookie upgrade prior to season kickoff (draft 4 new rookies)
How about a little fun (to break the monotony & pass some time).
Everyone nominates 4 players who will become Collingwood players during the Free Agency & Trade period (not Draft).
Let's see if anyone can nail it. No discussion...just name the players...
My players:
WELLS, MAYNE, WHE, STEWART
It's still Autumn...lot's of footy to come.
A tad early to be writing off the Pies yet.
We had 4 new players running around today...Treloar, Aish, Howe & Goodyear.
Team not gelling yet.
The 3rd quarter was a shocker...can only get better.
Grundy must improve.
Cloke must hit some form...
Collingwood kicked off with Marty Clarke, then Kevin Dyas, Paul Cribbin & Caolan Mooney.
Marty started off well, plateaued, home sick, went home...returned but had fallen behind.
Dyas & Cribbin never looked like succeeding, where as Mooney showed some potential, yet couldn't take the next step...
With 8 senior players out & 3 in we still must add at least 3 more players to bring our senior list to 38 (including Frost upgrade).
If we draft with picks 27 & 66 (use 77 to upgrade Frost).
We can add a Delisted Free Agent.
Who?
Grant, Adcock, Stokes, Kelly, Jamar, Dempsey, Pears.
I like Grant...
