Is tony out of custody yet? And have they found Ted Lasso ?

I've been told tony is still locked up but someone from the club managed to smuggle in a care package of pasta into the jail, so tony will be ok for the week.

Dingster 500 New
Congratulations once again to Bears and league legend Dingster, who played his 500th game this weekend. His contribution to this league cannot be overstated, from all his simmer and recruitment work to the years devoted to making this league better as a whole. I am glad we were able to celebrate this milestone with him at the Bears and secure a thrilling win in the end, thanks to Shadow Man's late goal.

I hope you enjoyed the week and all the adulation you received. Here's just a little bit more.

We should discuss @Dingster favourite game of all time, the day he met me, my debut match.

Don't worry, I'll only make 80% of this about me, I'm not a complete narcissist. Just a self indulgent one.

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon at Stadium in the sky when a fresh faced rookie with a different name back then was welcomed to this great game, wet behind the ears, and with no idea what Sunday Qootball entailed, or just how much easier (translation: lazier) you could take this game and still dominate.

The forward line was elite this day, yours truly commanding a forward pocket and his able support just ahead at HFF with Bears HoF'er @kane249 . Another wet behind the ears rookie was playing the other forward pocket and wedged between us Mrs Filth Wizard aka Miss Kate. The human blister out on his wing, brahj Mahal in the ruck and the Vegas court jester Quivorir next to Jum at rover and ruck rover.

It was a solid start for us, but more importantly me, 3 goals in a 9 goal opening term cementing my place as a great Vegas forward in Q1 of Game 1.

The play by play action expertly delivered by @Millky95 who opted not to go for the @philreich method of dragging it out for what feels like weeks. But I digress, less about them and more about Dingster me.

Q2 was no different for the Bears as we again piled on more pain for the bandits - yes the bombers had a cooler schtick back then - and nearly amassed 100 points by half time. Must have been fuming at the human blister @Matera92 kicking a goal as the quarter was a quiet one, this appears to be ground zero for our storied rivalry.

Half time oranges and a team talk from whatever coach I've probably forgotten we buried and the second half starts the same way the first did. Kane-o banging it through the sticks and yours truly having no trouble dominating this piss easy sport.

The last quarter is where it got ugly. The bears manage to get the score to 180 and beat the bandits by 10 goals. And boy are the stats just absolute fire.

Wise Guy Sam 31 touches.
Human blister 45 disposals and a goal.
Brahj Mahal 20 hitouts 31 disp and 3.4
Miss Kate 5 goals.
Kane 36 and 4.4
And some rookie kicked 8.3 from a pocket.

But most importantly in a game where we literally gave every bear a lick of the icecream so to speak somehow Dingster only managed 4 touches, which just goes to show, to reach 500 games in this league you don't need to be good, you just need to keep breathing.

And what's the point of doing well anyway, M92 will just rig the BnF anyway.

Congrats on 500 games Dingster old buddy.

We headed to the Colosseum to play the Wonders in Dingster's 500th game. It was fitting that we were facing the Wonders, given Dingster's previous time at the club.

The Wonders got off to a good start, kicking the opening two goals of the game. However, we quickly replied with two goals of our own, leveling the scores. This pattern continued throughout the game, with the Wonders never managing to kick more than two goals in a row before we answered back. By quarter time, the Wonders held a slender 8 point lead.

In the 2nd quarter the back and forth continued, with the Wonders striking first before we promptly responded. By halftime, the Wonders held a 7 point lead. Immediately after halftime, RonnieRaven showed the Bears' determination to win, kicking a goal just 43 seconds into the quarter. We continued to match the Wonders goal for goal, until MWPP kicked her first goal of the game, putting us in front for the first time. However, the Wonders quickly regained the lead with two quick goals of their own.

Cap and MWPP's goals in the last two minutes of the third quarter gave us a 6 point lead heading into the final quarter. Although both teams traded points, no one managed to kick a goal until Tommycash's goal extended our lead to 13 points. This proved to be a crucial moment in the game, as it was the only time where a team kicked 3 goals in a row for the whole game. The Wonders narrowed the gap with a goal seven minutes from the end, and despite our efforts to hold onto our 6 point lead, the Wonders kicked another goal with just three minutes remaining.

With the scores tied and the Bears needing a win desperately, the unthinkable happened. After Test Tickle won the hit out, Art Vandelay_ and Matera92 worked together to get the ball forward for us. Unfortunately Matera's kick was shit, but Shadow Man didn't let that stop him, chasing down SM, laid a tackle, regained possession, executed a one-two with Electronic_Renaissance and then kicked the goal to put us ahead and win the game.

4 : 21.43 {C} - The ball is bounced and Test Tickle gets the tap.
4 : 21.52 {C} - The bounce favours Art Vandelay_ and he is off and running.
4 : 21.56 {rW} - He kicks across the ground towards Matera92.
4 : 22 {rW} - Top mark - not paid.
4 : 22.04 {rW} - Nobody's checking Matera92.
4 : 22.08 {CHF} - JoseMourinho presents on a long lead.
4 : 22.12 {CHF} - JoseMourinho misjudges it and it's an easy mark to BigChippa52.
4 : 22.16 {lHBF} - SM has a paddock.
4 : 22.21 {lHBF} - Crunching tackle by Shadow Man.
4 : 22.25 {rHFF} - Who wants it? Shadow Man does. Great stuff.
4 : 22.29 - <<< Grand Uncle Horace is coming on to replace Oisin_the_Goat >>>
4 : 22.37 {rHFF} - Shadow Man slowing down the play.
4 : 22.42 {lHFF} - Almost a throw to Electronic_Renaissance.
4 : 22.45 {rHFF} - Fires out the handpass to Shadow Man.
4 : 22.49 {rHFF} - Shadow Man sees an open goal.

Looking at the stats, Cap had a big day in front of the big sticks kicking 5 goals. With MWPP, RonnieRaven and Shadow Man each kicking 2 goals.
This win was a real team effort with only 3 players getting over 20 possessions but 9 players getting 10 or more. Not only did we carry Dingster off the ground after the game, we carried him throughout the whole game.
Millky95 23 possessions, 9 tackles and 1 goal. RonnieRaven 20 possessions, 6 marks and 2 goals. Test Tickle 22 possessions, 14 hit outs and 4 free kicks against.

On a picturesque night in Las Vegas, the lights of the Stadium in the Sky shone brightly as the Bears took on the Gumbies in Friday Night Qooty.

The teams traded goals in the first quarter, with the Gumbies taking a 4 point lead into quarter time due to their more accurate kicking for goal.

It was in the 2nd quarter where the Gumbies made their move, kicking 5 goals to our 1, to take a 29 point lead into half time.

With our finals chances slipping away, the Bears had to lift, and Test Tickle kicked a goal in the opening minute of the half to give the Bears the early momentum. However, the Gumbies kicked the next 2 goals quickly to extend the margin out to 6 goals, the highest of the game. The Bears were in trouble and needed someone to step up, and Cap was that Bear, kicking 4 goals in 10 minutes to drag the Bears back into the match. With Electronic_Renaissance and Matera92 chipping in for a goal each, the Bears were now only 5 points behind at 3 Quarter time.

Veteran kane249 came off the bench and went forward, and it was a masterstroke of a move, with Kane kicking the first 2 goals of the final quarter to give the Bears back the lead for the first time since the opening quarter. Tommycash, Millky95, and Shadow Man all had opportunities to extend the margin but missed, and it would come back to bite the Bears in the ass with the Gumbies taking their chances and kicking the final 3 goals of the game to take back the lead and run out winners by 7 points.

With 3 games remaining and a game out of the top 8, things are not looking good for us. So, we must win against the Dragons this week to keep up with the sides above us.

Matera92 wound back to the clock to show that this old Bear still has life in him with a team high 31 possessions, 1 goal game. Possibly 3 Votes Matera. A challenger for the 3 votes would be Millky95 who gathered 26 possessions, 10 tackles and 1 goal. Art Vandelay_ wouldn't let Matera have a good game without having one himself. Art collected 26 possessions and a goal. The King of Primetime RonnieRaven collected 22 possessions and a few heads giving away 2 free kicks and Senor M was another to pass the 20 possession mark with 22.

Cap lead the goal scorers with 4 goals, it could have been more if not for some inaccuracy. kane249 bobbed up with 3, Electronic_Renaissance snagged 2 and singles to Art Vandelay_, JoseMourinho, Matera92, Millky95 and Test Tickle.

We have had a slight drop off in posters over the last few weeks but that was to be expected as we get late into the season, plus a shortened match thread doesn't help either, but the numbers are still very good. Thanks to everyone who has been joining in to make the match threads an enjoyable time. Over the last 4 weeks, we have had 4 different people leading our top poster for the week, which shows our depth and non reliance on any one person.

Playing Stats updated to the end of Round 14

Millky95 has passed the 1000 DT mark over the last few weeks, with a number of players also getting very close to the mark and should pass 1000 before the end of the season. He also leads the way with possessions, with Art Vandelay_, Matera92 and RonnieRaven hot on his tail.

Test Tickle needs 15 more hitouts to become the Bears all time Hit Out winner, hopefully he can do it on the weekend with a big display of ruck work against the Dragons.

Chipmunk, Electronic_Renaissance, Matera92, RonnieRaven, RookiePick and Test Tickle all prefer to handball the ball more than kick it.

Shadow Man leads all comers for marks, the opposition must not see him lurking in the shadows.

Tandy and Millky95 have more tackles than the rest of the team combined and they also seem to have a way with the umpires leading the team in frees for.

Round 16's match review is bought to you by TonyAI. I feed the match report and stats into an AI chat to see what it would come up with and who it felt were the best players for the game and this is what it spat out. From what I can tell the 8 players who didn't kick a goal and Kane who did kick a goal were complete ignored by the AI. Matera very stiff to miss out on a mention.

On a gloriously warm, sunny Sunday afternoon at the Stadium in the Sky, the Las Vegas Bears squared off against the Dragons in a match so crucial it had fans more jittery than a kangaroo on a pogo stick. Due to a paperwork bungle by the Hawks, both teams found themselves with a shot at 8th place, and the Bears were determined to make the most of it.

The first quarter felt like watching a horror movie, with the Dragons sinking goals left and right. Despite valiant efforts from Dingster, MWPP, and Test Tickle, the Bears were trailing by 22 points by the end of the first quarter. Bears fans were biting their nails, fearing their finals hopes were going up in smoke.

Then came the second quarter, a period of play so magical it could have been sponsored by a wizard. The Bears unleashed a 10 goal barrage that had the Dragons spinning in confusion. Dingster started the fireworks, followed by a relentless assault from Art Vandelay_, Tandy, Test Tickle, Cap, RonnieRaven, Shadow Man, and JoseMourinho. The Bears turned the game on its head, going from underdogs to top dogs with a 21 point lead by halftime.

Building on their momentum, the Bears extended their lead further in the third quarter. MWPP, Dingster, and Cap were pivotal in stretching the lead to 42 points at one stage. Although the Dragons managed to respond with a few goals, the Bears' dominance was clear, ending the quarter with a 31 point lead.

In the final quarter, the Bears decided to put the cherry on top of their victory sundae. Goals from Millky95, Tandy, and Tommycash ensured the Dragons’ comeback attempt was more of a whimper than a roar. Despite a few last-minute goals from the Dragons, the Bears secured a critical 20 point win, ensuring their finals fate was now in their own paws. This win propels the Bears into the 8th spot, making their path to the finals clear: just keep winning.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of the key performances:

Shadow Man: Shadow Man’s goal and overall play were key in keeping the Bears ahead. His ability to win the ball and create opportunities made a noticeable impact on the game.

In a highly anticipated clash at the Stadium in the Sky, the Las Vegas Bears faced off against their local rivals, the Sin City Swamprats. Both teams had high stakes riding on this game, the Bears aiming to secure their spot in the top 8 and the Swamprats looking to break into the top 4. Unfortunately for the Bears and their fans, the night ended in disappointment as the Swamprats delivered a dominant final quarter to secure a 68 point victory.

Final Score:
Las Vegas Bears: 17.13 (115)
Sin City Swamprats: 28.15 (183)

Quarter by Quarter Breakdown:

First Quarter:
The game started with an electrifying pace, and it was the Bears who struck first through a goal by Cap. However, the Swamprats quickly responded, and both teams traded goals in a tightly contested quarter. The Bears' forward line, led by Cap, was efficient, while the Swamprats' forwards kept the pressure on. Despite several lead changes, the Bears managed to edge ahead, finishing the quarter slightly in front, 7.3 (45) to 6.7 (43).

Second Quarter: The second quarter saw the Bears starting to find their rhythm. Cap continued his scoring spree, adding three more goals to his tally. The Bears' midfielders were winning the clearances, and their defense held firm against the Swamprats' counterattacks. However, the Swamprats kept themselves in the game with crucial goals, reducing the Bears' lead. By halftime, the Bears were ahead, 11.7 (73) to 10.7 (67), but the match was still very much in the balance.

Third Quarter: This quarter was a goal-fest, with both teams playing high-octane football. Cap was again at the forefront, scoring early to maintain the Bears' momentum. However, the Swamprats' relentless attack saw them take the lead midway through the quarter. Matera92 and Tandy responded for the Bears, but the Swamprats managed to outscore them, ending the quarter with a narrow lead, 18.11 (119) to 16.9 (105).

Final Quarter: The final quarter was a nightmare for the Bears. The Swamprats came out firing and completely dominated the last term. The Bears' defense, which had held up reasonably well until then, crumbled under the Swamprats' relentless pressure. The Swamprats piled on goal after goal, while the Bears managed only a single goal through RookiePick. The quarter ended with the Swamprats outscoring the Bears 10 goals to 1, resulting in a comprehensive 68 point victory for the visitors.
