Las Vegas Bears Life Membership

Do you know what it takes to be a life member of the Las Vegas Bears Qooty Club? Well, you have to play 150 games for the club. That’s right, 150 games. This is a huge deal, because it means you have been loyal, dedicated, and outstanding at Qooty for centuries. Or, at least, it feels like centuries.

However, there are some players who have reached this milestone, but they didn’t get their award when they should have. Why? Because Matera92, the wise and benevolent leader, decided to stop awarding life membership when he realised Art Vandelay_ was coming up on this achievement and there was no way he was going to award Art with anything other than a kick in the ass. So Art and many others missed out on receiving their life membership. Tonight, much to the delight of Matera, we will fix that all up. So please give a big round of applause to the following players who receive life membership to the Las Vegas Bears Qooty Club:

hilly, Magruder, Art Vandelay_, RookiePick, Jezmiester40, JoshWoodenSpoon, Test Tickle, and MWPP.

Dingster has compiled for us a list of achievements, that each of these wonderful people have done during their time at the Bears.

Hilly - a key figure in Bears' history being the heart and soul in our formation in S5 and was tempted back in S18 for our second crack at it. Played 212 games for the Bears including coming off the bench in our S22 premiership side with a lazy 21 possies. Became a Bears HoF member in S21.

Art Vandelay_ - the BS artist formerly known as Doctor Gero. Apart from being one of those two angry muppet dudes with Matera92, he was a key LG member in our golden era including playing in the centre (alongside Matera) in our S22 premiership side. Gero has played 293 games for the Bears and won a Captain's Award, something Matera has never done. Gero was honoured with Bears' HoF in S35.

Fun fact - RookiePick (CHF), Magdaddy (FP) and Jez (FP) formed the golden triangle of our S22 premiership side.

Magruder
- Affectionately known as Magdaddy. Played 180 games and a member of our S22 premiership side. Also was a valuable member of the LG including our premiership season. A top notch poster in that era and we really need to lure Magdaddy back for another 20 games to reach the big 200.

RookiePick - A true Bears stalwart playing 244 games and counting. The CHF of our S22 premiership team and elevated to LG in S23. I think it's only fitting to share his welcome message in the LG - "Great honour to be included etc etc...now where is the really high class blow and hookers you leadership types keep to yourselves! I have got a nose like Harley Bennell and a schlong like someone with a comically large schlong and they both need to celebrate this recognition!"

jezmiester40 - Cult hero of the Bears infamously signing up just hours before the squad deadline saving the Bears from not having the minimum numbers. Was FP in our S22 premiership side kicking a crucial goal on/after the three quarter time siren (we won by 2 points). In 208 games is the Bears all time leading goal scorer with 286 goals despite never playing FF. Is a nerd.

JoshWoodenSpoon - won more awards than Tayla Swift including 6 All SFA, 4 seasons as captain, 2 Mateflons, back to back beez and some of the finest media in all of Sweet. How JWS won all those All SFA's with those helicopter kicks from FB we'll never know. He must have some pictures of......NVM. Joshy deservedly made the Bears' HoF in S35.

Test Tickle - former captain playing 156 games for the Bears, won a Mateflon, a couple of best club player and has show more diversity than a sesh in the showers winning best defender and best mid awards. Testy is truly perpetual motion running down the wing.

MWPP - el capitano for 3 seasons, MWPP has played 156 games for the Bears (225 overall). She won 3 All SFA awards (2 as CHB and last season as a small forward. That must have been some off season!). MWPP also has 2 Mateflons, 2 captain's awards, best club player and best defender. She always puts the team first and is one heck of a dance partner.

Round 9 (The Rise of RonnieRaven)
Ted Lasso's Review
Ah, Round 9, when the Wonders brought their goal-scoring extravaganza to the Stadium in the Sky. Six goals in each of the first three quarters, and we were left trailing in their wake. But you know what, my Bears? Our belief and spirit refused to be silenced. In the final quarter, we kicked eight glorious goals, yet those pesky timekeepers blew the Siren just before our comeback masterpiece was complete. It's like they're allergic to our comeback drama.

Round 10
Ted Lasso's Review
Round 10, where we decided to show the Furies the full might of the Las Vegas Bears. At halftime, we were riding high, leading 51 to 19. Some of us might've even started planning an early pub celebration, cue ominous music. The Furies, not ones to be underestimated, struck back with 10 goals in the third quarter. And with half the team seeing double or triple from their impromptu pub session, our comeback hopes vanished like a magician's assistant. Lesson learned: never count your beers before they're poured.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are now ready to present the next awards for the night: the Best Club Player Awards.

This season, we have decided to select two best club players, one for the regular season and one for the finals, as we have had so many players who have contributed to our team's success and spirit.

The Best Club Player Award for the regular season goes to a player who has been a unique and valuable addition to our side, after returning to the league from a break. He has hit the ground running and brought his flair and personality to the team. He has also been a master of sales, selling his 1980's technology at exorbitant prices to anyone he could flog them off to, making a fortune and a name for himself. He has been a great poster, adding to the match threads with his humour, wit, and funny graphics. He has entertained his teammates and the opposition with his humorous posts, making us laugh and smile. He has also been a great clubman, supporting the team, and helping out whenever he can. He is a fantastic player and a wonderful bear. Please give a big round of applause to Tandy!

The Best Club Player Award for the finals goes to a player who has been a selfless and loyal member of our team, even though he didn't get to play in the finals. He was out saving the world during the regular season, but he returned just in time for our finals run. He was eager to play, but he didn't want us to change a winning team, so he sacrificed his spot and cheered us on from the sidelines. He encouraged the team to do their best and win throughout the finals, giving us motivation and confidence. He has also been a great clubman, celebrating with the team, and riding our ups and downs over our finals series. Please give a huge round of applause to Shadow Man!

Congratulations to Tandy and Shadow Man, you have both been outstanding club players and you deserve these awards. Well done!

Round 11
Ted Lasso's Review
Round 11, where the Phoenix dared to spread their wings and kick the opening goal. Little did they know, that was the trigger for our mighty comeback. From then until 3 quarter time, we tightened our grip, allowing the Phoenix only 2 points while we unleashed 13 consecutive goals. Now, here's where the déjà vu kicked in. Some of us, made an early pub detour, generously allowing the Phoenix to snag the last 6 goals. But fear not, my Bears, we held strong, and that 3-game losing streak was history!

Round 12
Ted Lasso's Review
Round 12 took us to the snowy battlefield against the Demons. A spirited breeze favored one end, and the Demons danced with it in the first, gaining a lead. We harnessed that breeze in the 2nd, reining them in, but they slipped away again in the 3rd. With a top-four spot beckoning, we put that breeze to work, kicking 5 goals to 1 to draw level. However, those timekeepers, always playing tricks, blew the siren, denying us the win and triggering a sense of déjà vu. Yet, it's not all that bad, playing a draw seems to be our ticket to the Grand Final.

Well deserved Tandy. All the best in keeping Electronic_Renaissance in check.

Shadow Man was clearly on the good stuff on his "external activities".

After 12 Rounds, Cap has now taken back the lead from Millky95, with them now both pulling away from the pack. After 3 Man of the Match performances in 4 games RonnieRaven has shot up the ladderboard but has he left his run too late.

As the captain of the Las Vegas Bears, I have the honour of presenting the Captain’s award, which goes to the player who has shown leadership, teamwork, and dedication throughout the season.

The winner of the captain’s award is someone who always puts the team first, before himself. He is someone who always helps out in the LG, whether it’s by posting match reviews, giving feedback, or calling out Jez for being a nerd. He is someone who leads by example, both on and off the field. He is someone who inspires and motivates us all to be better players and better people.

And the winner is, Dingster!

Dingster, you are a true champion of this club. You have been a key part of our success this season, and I can’t thank you enough for your contribution and commitment. You have earned the respect and admiration of your teammates, your opponents, and your fans. You have made me proud to be your captain, and I’m honoured to present you with this award.

Please join me in congratulating Dingster, the winner of the Captain’s award for Season 36!

Round 13 we had the bye so we move on to Round 14.
Ted Lasso's Review
Round 14 was Heritage Round, and we faced the Dragons after a well deserved bye. The rest did us wonders, and by 3 quarter time, we were 6 goals up, cruising along smoothly. In true Bears heritage, we decided to hit the pub early, giving the Dragons a chance to breathe fire back into the game. But fate had its say; when Young Ronnie's shout came around at the pub, he made a quick beeline back to the ground. In a stroke of luck, he picked up the ball and kicked a goal, clinching us a very lucky win.

After a 2nd bye in two weeks we move onto Round 16
Ted Lasso's Review
In our final dance of the regular season, we faced the Phoenix, who, it turns out, won't be rising from the ashes anymore. With a stellar 9 goal second quarter and a magnificent 7 goal third quarter, we found ourselves sitting pretty with a 75 point lead at three quarter time and off to the pub we went again. The win helped us claim a piece of history. By finishing 2nd on the ladder, that marked our highest finish in Bears history. Well done Bears!

New Player Arrival

In S29, a young British Chipmunk who was homesick for his Aussie home away from home gate-crashed into the world of Sweet. After being scouted out by several teams and after much deliberation, Chippy landed at East Side. His lack of need for sleep and little-known tendency to sparkle in the sun made him attractive to other clubs including the Vampires, but he stayed on, becoming the King of Discord, Captain, and remaining a strategic Chess/Werewolf Champion. A star of the league, Chippy collected three All-SFA selections and four top 20 beez finishes in just 5 complete seasons whilst being the face of a magical rebrand by day and running the glamorous ChippyBet by night. Chippy's retirement at his peak in S34 sent shockwaves throughout the competition, even amongst those of us who were warned that it was coming.

A year later, the opportunity to play alongside multiple friends whilst being compensated handsomely with a deal worth 4,444,444,444 nuts with a SALON allowance was too good to refuse, even after paying out his many fans who had taken up the long ChippyBet odds offered for a comeback. Therefore on the eve of the S37 season thanks to the hard work from Barely Legal/Pawly Represented and 'favourable' qoin/nut conversion rates, Las Vegas proudly announces its merger with ChippyBet.

Welcome aboard Chipmunk. Let's play!
