I have Pendlebury and Murphy comfortably ahead of the rest. Ellis is starting to close the gap, but has a way to go. Thomas is losing ground, but in a few years will be right up there IMO. Gotta love Ryder too.

While Marc Murphy is the best, if your listing 5 options, Vince should be one...considering he is much better than Ellis, Kennedy and Thomas.

probably pendlebury at this stage. but i'm still happy with the choice we made in getting murphy as i don't think carlton would have developed pendlebury to the same extent as what collingwood has.

Birchall and Ryder deserve to be there, but seems to be a "Top 5 Drafted - Where are they now?" thread, so I'd go:

Murphy
Pendlebury
Ellis
Thomas
Kennedy

Pendles probably. Very happy with Murphy though.

A group = Pendles, Murphy.....Both absolute class. Murphy needs disposal work, and Pendles needs someone to help him in the midfield.

B group = Kennedy......Needs time. Will be a gun.

C group = Thomas, Ellis......Ellis can get a lot better though. Thomas is too inconsistent and isn't damaging enough - good to watch though.

lmao, can't get a game with the sh1ttest club in the comp and today got towelled up by a player who can't get a game for carlton in luke blackwell who gave him the biggest football lesson of his life!
I love Jones, and rate Blackwell quite highly too. Why can't he get a game with the Blues?

too slow, too small and he can't kick. not to mention it is very hard breaking into the carlton midfield, especially given blackers' can't play any other position.

i understand where you're coming from, jones and blackwell are 2 players who you just love to watch but unfortunately their hardness and courage don't compare with their natural talent.

Shit post.

Gibbs, Bower and Grigg haven't developed one iota since Carlton drafted them.

Collingwood haven't developed Thomas' game and his motor since he burst onto the scene with flashy goals and big marks.

Jones had 26 possies two weeks ago and IMO didn't deserve too be dropped. From what i've heard of the Sandy match Jones didn't play much, and is thought to be carrying an injury.

Every team needs a player like Jones, him and McLean compliment eachother very well.

gibbs, bower and grigg have only shown improvement under ratten. pendlebury wouldn't be as good as he is now if he had pagan and was thrown into the midfield and got smashed week in week out.

i think pendlebury and murphy are clearly the best 2 players from this draft.

Right now Peddles and Murphy but in a couple of years Ellis. Like Murphy and Peddles, Ellis will spend most of his time in the middle and I reckon he is the most skillful out of the lot.

Hawks rate Ellis's leadership qualities to the extent of eventually captaining the club.

that hardly puts him ahead of the other two, murphy also has a lot of leadership and probably won't be captain because of gibbs but will still be a great leader. pendlebury likewise.

as for skills, well i think that is the thing that separates pendlebury from the rest of this group.

I really rate these guys. Nathan Jones would be a incredible under the right coach.
Really like Gamble and Pendlebury. Thomas is cool but he needs to harden up a little.

Mark Murphy
Dale Thomas
Scott Pendlebury
Patrick Ryder
Nathan Jones
Grant Birchall
Garrick Ibbotson
Ryan Gamble
Sam Lonergan
Simon Buckley

Seeing as the poll options were poorly assembled, I'll give my vote like this:

1. Ryder
2. Pendlebury
3. Murphy
4. Kennedy
5. Jones
6. Thomas
7. Ellis

Obviously there are many more, including players from the preseason or rookie draft, though these 6 would be the main candidates I suppose.
