Stevens is your modern day 'power' midfielder... strong, quick, good overhead and has a penetrating kick.. lays a ferocious tackle too if he gets a clear run at the player. noticed this year that he always seemed to kick at least 1 goal in almost every game he played too which is always handy for a midfielder. he's one of the new AIS boys in 2009

Cheers.Darling does look the goods, but he will be lost to the Gold Coast.
Tah Bourky ... noticed he was in the Vic Country 2008 squad, did he play in any of the 08 U-18 championships games ?
None of the u16's from this year are eligible next year, you must be 18 by the 31st of december.Ben Jacobs, captained the U16 VIC Metro Squad this year.
Definitely worth a look, super kick on both sides, great football smarts and fantastic leadership.
I didn't think he'd be old enough, but if Tom Nicholls is then he must be.
Also, I played against Tom Nicholls a few times, he has such a big leap to go with his strong tall frame, it was impossible to stop him marking the ball every time it was kicked in our direction, I just felt so so so small and I'm really not![]()
Ryan Bastinac, am not pumping his tyres up like some people on here, but is tearing it up alongside Scully at Stingrays in the TAC cup, is a really damaging player, wors both ways, is good overhead and is a smooth mover, has both feet. Will be one to be looked at, hm interesting, wonder if he will get opposed to Scully next year.
Scully (Vic Metro)
V
Bastinac (VicCountry)
tantelizing.
Is Groenewegen any relation to the former Doggies player who took over the intercom on a plane and said they were going to crash?![]()
Son.
Joesph Groenewagon - Robert Groenewagon 79 games
Ben Reid - Bruce Reid 86 games
Alex Rance - Murray Rance 40 games
Faaaaarrrrrrkkkkkk!
At least Brian Cordy managed 100.
Mitch Wallis, Tom Liberatore and Ayce's little brother (whatever his name is) to come as well.
We might not have won many games in the 80's but we did a lot of shagging.
McKenna would not comment on who the Gold Coast was looking at, but there are several standouts.
South Australia's Scott Lycett, 16, is a 202cm ruckman/forward already considered the dominant player from the 2010 national draft pool.
West Australia's David Swallow, the 16-year-old brother of Kangaroo Andrew, is considered the dominant midfielder of that level. Both players attend the AIS-AFL Academy.
Ten of the academy squad are 17-year-olds eligible next year only for the Gold Coast side, which effectively means it can skim the best of that season's elite talent.
Also in this year's AIS-AFL Academy are brilliant Tasmanian midfielder Maverick Weller, 16, who is eligible for the Gold Coast next year, and Joseph Groenewegen, the 17-year-old son of ex-Bulldog Robert.
Budding ruckman Groenewegen is eligible for next year's draft but not under the father-son rule because Robert played only 79 games for the Dogs.
AIS-AFL members Rex Liddy and Lewis Moss, both 16, are considered potential stars but are already zoned to Gold Coast.
Moss is an exciting tall forward, while Liddy has been on the radar for years.
McKenna has been coaching the Gold Coast's squad of 47 players for several weeks.
That side will play in the TAC Cup next year.
Hawks have Stubbs on scholarship as well (Langford is on scholarship rather than F/S since it allows us to take him later), at this early stage it looks like we could have an okay 2010 draft despite the GC concessions.Any other tall forwards from this squad
Of course the Hawks have Langford...
NSW/ACT: Will Langford (Easts), Trent Stubbs (Baulkham Hills), Kaine Stevens (Queanbeyan)
They're both pretty similar footy-wise, i'd say Watts is a better athlete.how does butcher compare to watts
I agree. The Falcons look like a team to watch next year.i think that geelong will have a few picked up
cunnington, christensen, bartlett, fisher, mackenzie and if jordie mckenzie and zec ledin dont get picked up in the rookie draft they will play as 19 year olds and sure to get picked up
Dam Butcher looked good there, Will not be Surprised if he is the Number 1 Pick in the next drartThey're both pretty similar footy-wise, i'd say Watts is a better athlete.
