I don't get how he doesn't watch vision of himself doing those dumb snap kicks without looking and work on it.

He played great defensively. But how is he still doing those kicks? Surely one of the coaches has told him they don't work ever

You obviously were not at the game where you FIGJAM.
He got lucky a few times. Those who were there saw it.
He did well when he was tight but he left him 30 meters in the clear more than 5 times in the second half . That is simply how it was. Maybe if you went every now and then you would see it.

I didn’t say he did not beat him. I said he got lucky a few times which he did. There was 3 times the Pies bombed to the wrong spot when Hill was 20 meters in the clear. Like I said. You where not there so there is no way you could see it turbo.

No need to get personal.

He may have got lucky his man was not used at times, but he was genuinely very good in several 1on1s.
I'm not mcraths biggest fan but he has been genuinely good defensively lately, just a total liability with the ball.

But there's no need to make snide remarks at another poster just because you dont agree with his point. If you can't hold back just don't respond to the post.

I thought he was having a terrific game until that atrocious handball. Thought that was a moment that helped swing the momentum.

Hard to be too critical when he was actually trying to make something happen at a time where we needed to get a wriggle on.

If you didn’t know it you would think we were top of the ladder and flying, given how much focus is on a small defender that is beating, or in this case absolutely flogging his man every week.

Talk about sweating the small things.

He was.

That handball and the Setterfield kick into a player on the wing were 2 crucial turnovers that swung the game and we never recovered.

You have to be on your game 100%. That is why Pies are so competitive, they never give up, always manic at the contest. We still have some lazy footballers.

At times yes, but won a few 1 on 1 when they used hill as an outlet. I thought he easily won the battle against him today, but Geeze he makes so many errors with ball in hand
Thing is I never said he was bad. Just said he got lucky a few times as he let Hill have a massive amount of space. He beat Hill but he rolled the dice more than a few times. He did not need to do it. His job on Hill in the first half was great. In fact it was better than great.

God dammit I wish we picked Tim Taranto

The caddy switch in the 3rd also changed the momentum I thought. We were all over them up until that point

Needs to be back in the midfield. Handballs in tight are great, is defensively sound around stoppage, hacking out of the stoppage is the norm even for classy players and will find himself with more space more often. The work down back just ain't it. Even trial him up forward, but we have to change something.

We put him in the midfield in season 2 and that's what wrecked him. He needs to be relieved of the VC at the end of the season and made to earn a spot. Like Parish

He was absolutely fine in the midfield. Problem was Parish wasn’t damaging enough to get value out of a defensively sweeper midifielder and we’d just get killed laterally.

Durham and Caldwell are a different mix and we could go Geelong style defence first and use the interceptors off half back. Chuck in Johnson in his place and get some actual kicking skills there.

He was never the same after the knee injury in 2021 and was slower when he came back. He used to use his speed away from the contest to give himself enough time to decide where/how he was going to dispose it before being tackled but that's now gone and you're left with the dump kick.

Trial him VFL
