Yeah, nah, yeah. Still can't get excited. His highlights were brilliant but his ordinary was very ordinary and more than half his game. But he is in and out like the proverbial so give him 3 or 4 in a row and see if he improves his consistency. Honestly don't believe he can make it but a good depth player I suppose and I assume we aren't paying him millions. So put him to the test - give him a few in a row.

How do you give him 3-4 in a row? You need to drop one of the other forwards or Goldstein to do this.

Agree 100%. Give him an extended shot at it like the 'prodigal son' Brown has had 40 odd games to prove himself. Has brown ever kicked 6 goals in a game? The answer is no. Majak provides flexibility in the ruck and is damaging up forward with his aerial ability and pace.

Look up the term 'prodigal son', you clown.

Then be suitably embarrassed for continuing to use it so way out of context that everyone who reads it is laughing at you.

Was interesting seeing Dish coaching him on the ground. Was constantly getting into his ear at quarter breaks, which was great to see.

interesting? that a player playing his 10th full game is getting advice from a 300 game veteran of our club, interesting in what way?

I'm hoping he gets another week to show his worth, and we rest Waite or Petrie to accommodate it (regardless of whether Wood comes up as he can play small)

Definitely do not want to go in with all 5 of them again, it was a failed experiment and for the bin.

Interesting in the sense that it looked different to his previous games where there was a focus on giving a deer in the headlights encouragement and boosting his morale, but this time it looked like he belonged and was game coaching. Just a slight shift in how the other boys were responding to Maj. Gives me the sense that he is now being seen as the real deal.

you select the team on form instead of reputation.;)

If you're going to play three tall forwards you select them based on how well they work with each other. That and Petrie, Brown and Waite have all enjoyed good seasons to date.

I am a Daw fan but we're gunning for a top two finish and have one more soft fixture before our run gets really tough. Not really the time to be fiddling around with selection.

This definitely deserves more likes.

you may be correct but not right now, and not for the next 2 years at least.
With another pre season under his belt, Preuss will have an AFL ready tank and be a worthy replacement for Goldstein should injury occur next year. Maj will then be as redundant as Ford employee in Geelong.

you should have started with:
  • I hope
  • I think
  • Maybe
  • I expect
  • I assume
  • In all likelihood
none of what you say is set in stone.

Game sense issues become less of an problem if you play him right. IMO he rucks at the bounce when Goldy needs a rest, and when in the forwardline at ball ups or throw in he plays as the third up and puts the knee in. The rest of the time he plays as more of a stay at home full forward. Even if he can't outright mark it as long as he brings it to ground he should win 90% of all 1 on 1 ground ball battles against a KPD.

Looking forward that's how I see him once one or both of Drew and Waite retire. If Brown can gain even more core strength and stop running under (or getting pushed under) the ball then he will be a monster leading forward pushing up the wings.

Daw has some ridiculously good attributes that are too good to squander, but he also has some glaring weaknesses that will take time to overcome (if he ever can), and time in the seniors at that. We can't nullify all of his weaknesses at all right now when he's playing as the 27th tall forward in the team. When he's one of key KPF himself though, and a lock each week, then we can.

We risk losing him to a team that CAN play him as a best 22 player week in week out if we aren't super serious about getting him locked up. It's the same situation as Dumont (although Dumont has far fewer weaknesses), we can't fit him in as a regular player right now but there are plenty of clubs that can.

Good player but not one that makes us a better team. I'd take Brown any day.

Maj is great backup as he showed yesterday.

Right now today correct, after Waite and Petrie retire I doubt it.

I think some in here are trying harder to find reasons why Maj can't become a good footballer then reasons why he can. but I could be wrong.:)

Yeah I've never quite understood that myself...

  • Can't play as a forward last two games for North combined stats 22 disposals 7 marks 4 goals 2 behinds 13 tackles and 29 hit outs.
  • Runs out of puff- would love his GPS data and compare it to the other three Petrie, Waite and Brown, I believe he'd cover more turf than two of the three at worst
  • Has no game sense- charges out of full forward beats two opponents , strong mark and goal= highlight reel.
  • pushes opponent off ball grabs said ball shoots from boundary, great goal= highlight reel.
  • strikes Crowley like a panther on a deer- highlight reel.
Personally we should be excited instead of finding reasons why he's not going to make it. A wonderful story is Majak Daw.

FWIW it would take Drew 7 weeks to match 13 tackles and Benny Brown about 12.

I thought he was very good, adapted to the pace pretty well and clunked lots of contested marks. Is a tackling machine and pretty agile on the ground. Reckon he put the fear of Maj into some of those * players he tackled. This week and next week are the perfect time to experiment with our structure, especially when we have so many half-forwards out for "2 weeks"

Give him the carlton game and rest brown. Maj played a reasonable game if not for a couple misses we wouldve said wow 4 goals what a game. He deserves his spot for next week. Brownys was not very good at all a rest would do him good.
