the money goes to the club.

The actual numbers havent been released, but of the posters who have logged in/posted in the last month, Adelaide is about 6th.

Well I just had a quick look at my emails and it appears the club, not the forum, gets the cash. Why Adelaide would need a measly 10 grand I do not know, almost as ridiculous as player sponsorships. Every member on the forum gets 1 year platinum membership though, hip hip hooray.

This promo has two purposes - firstly, it's to celebrate 10 years since BigFooty was created; secondly, it's to encourage members to get their friends/relatives to sign on (more users = more advertising revenue for the site's owners).

The $10,000 goes to the club, but all 10,000 members will receive Platinum BigFooty Supporters Club memberships for 1 year.

As for how many members we have, the admins have given us a few numbers to work from: BigFooty currently has just under 25,000 active members, of these 7.9% have the Adelaide Crows listed as their team of choice. By my maths, this means we have just under 2,000 "active" members.

$10,000 to the club?

Ridiculous. The AFL is a multi million dollar business.

The Ten Grand should go to a nominated charity, or even a local football club that the forum has chosen.

They didn't say the AFL. They said your club. If the $10k gives you ANY competitive advantage, you should be a big supporter of the idea, if you care for the club's success. People misunderstand the finances of the clubs: they're not profit driven to return dividends to their shareholders - all monies raised is invested in the club, making them MUCH closer to a non-profit.

That being said, they should probably give it to the Crows Foundation.

When they are spending nearly 7,000,000 a year on players salaries I think $10k is peanuts.

Our club makes a profit, i just think its a silly idea. Giving ten grand to your AFL club as an incentive to sign up?

so the site has been around for 10 years and we have manged to get 2000 active supporters in that time. what r the chances of us getting another 8000 or even more then that if they only count as half or whatever midway though the season, and we have to do that in a one year period.

mission impossible if u asked me

I won a big footy Platinum membership from Dec 31 08 to Dec 31 09 for being the best new poster. If Adelaide forum contributers gets a platinum membership. Will it apply from the day we win it or from the end of any current membership

Do "aliases" count. According to one Bay 13 regular there are at least 10 variants of some of us:rolleyes:

But if they do 100 of us use 100 aiases in a year BINGO:D:D:D:D:D

Aliases do count, but are usually deleted when discovered (and hence no longer count). That said, many aliases aren't "active" - they're often created for later use (if/when primary account is infracted or banned). If they haven't had a post in the last month then it's not considered "active".

Anyone who tries to register 100 aliases will be kicked off BF permanently, losing both their aliases and their main account.

Not if they do it from different IP addresses and Email accounts, though why anyone would go to so much effort, I don't know.

The key part of my previous post was "when discovered". There are a couple of serial pests who have way too much time on their hands, but by far and away the majority of users do the right thing.
