Had to be dropped and should remain so until he learns to kick and handball. His skill level atm is quite simply not good enough at afl level.
Yeah ... but if we're being consistent, you'd drop five or six of our most senior blokes and about 15 guys overall.
It's not the lack of endeavour from some that kills me the most, or even the losses (they're expected), it's the woeful skill level across the board.
As a unit, our skills are not that of an AFL team.

Agree, his kicks looked perfectly fine it's just the choices he was making, it's not like he shanks them off the boot.
Yeah, I don't see what others see; his kicking for me is great. It also depends who he si kicking it to, as they might make it look bad lol

He is the future and would be better for the club to have him remain in the side. However, Broad will be in for the Port game.
Some on here contradict. One minute they say pump games into kids, and then they want them dropped. Go figure. I'm so glad we are pumping games into the Ryan, Sonz, Ross, and Ralf types. instead.

Luckily, I am not one of them. Makes the end-of-year delisting period interesting. I am not worried about Trainor and still believe he should be in.

I agree with you , poor selection to drop him, there’s three or four from the back line who are worse

Shorts kicking s abysmal , brown for an elite kick is woeful

For an 19yo to be dropped cold - not even on the extended bench - it'd 1 of 2 reasons
1- He has fundamentally broken team rules repeatedly and not listening or
2- He is being trialled in a new role or working on something fundamental

hoping its number 2
Thought his intensity was down last week, he looked a bit flat. He was just ok against PA , played well against Freo.
Pretty standard for a 2nd year tall.
I reckon it’s a bit harsh dropping him , particularly when you consider how poor Brown has been , and hasn’t been dropped ( yet).
Who knows!!!! team selection has been bewildering this year.

Getting flogged every week tends to sap the morale , there should be coaches and leader to pick the kids up ……..but sadly

Dissapointed in the club. Not for dropping Trainor but for their selections in general.

Broad
Hopper
Prestia
HRS
Lefau
Green

Are consistently picked when available and aare taking the club nowhere. There's nothing wrong with dropping a young player like Trainor but what message does it send when hes played a shocker gets dropped off a 5 day break into a marquee game and has no VFL game justify selection for the following week.

Trainor is the least of our worries, kid knows how to find the ball just needs to improve his decision making.

Love the hysteria and reinviting of the wheel, I bet we could go into many of our past defenders and find moments on this very board where our "expert" posters said Rance was useless, Grimes will only ever be a fringe Backman, Astbury should be dropped and added nothing.

I'm disappointed he got dropped, there is a big difference in intensity playing seniors than VFL and not sure the VFL environment is going to improve his disposals when under pressure. I get you can't keep gifting games to someone not performing but atm we aren't winning and its not like he has played in many games this season.

Reckon sometimes we use a bad game from a kid as an excuse to drop them, so then it looks like we are doing something about it. My lack of faith in our coaches is growing by the week.

Yze said that a few old boys are sore so some wont play next week.
I wonder if Trainor was dropped to replace Broad or Vlaustin next week.
I dont agree with it at all but i think thats whats happened.

Love the train, but I thought he was a bit careless on the weekend. Would have given away 5 free kicks (Knees into opponents backs, silly 50s, silly holds) and probably even more turnovers with poor skills.

The guy is a jet and probably suffering some 2nd year blues like some others. Fair to be dropped, can’t reward poor displays like above. He’ll be back very soon - no need for meltdowns

You can't play an U22 team, you need some senior bodies in there

Broad is going home after the season, Trainor should be playing ahead of him. It's not like Broad is shooting the lights out.
Agree. I'm really disappointed with this match committee decision, as much as any other so far season.

Reeks of a group feeling the pressure of needing a win, rather than sustaining the development of a 19 year old who requires games at AFL level.

You obviously didn't watch him in the VFL. Was lucky to make contact with the ball a few times.
Yeah, I did, but it's called "I can't be arsed," and that's how a few players feel at the moment.

Keep playing the kid, with so many forward 50 entries coming into the backline he is naturally going to make errors.
It's hardly his fault considering the lack of pressure all over the ground. Yze has no Fu#$ing idea what he is doing.
At this rate we won't attract any free agents but we are going to struggle to keep our young talent.

Absolutely develop the kid , Broad has been a great servant but ain’t the future
