Positives:
- Looks quick
- Tackles really well
- Excellent decision making
- Great creative instincts
- Goal kicker

Negatives
- Smallish
- Ball drop needs a work
- Poor left foot

Averaged 9.7 tackles a game for the Jets and 9.3 tackles a game at the champs those are incredible defensive numbers and is exactly what our forward line could use. Averaging 19 disposals and a goal a game at the champs for a player who is so defensive focused is really good too. Was surprised Brisbane didn't pick him TBH.

When I heard we got Fogarty I was straight on the phone to someone on the coaching panel at WJ and this is his response
“He’s a gun mate.... never seen a kid chase, harass and tackle like him. He plays like Kieran Jack
They got him for a steal in my opinion“

nice. :thumbsu:

Really seems to have both very strong attacking and defensive sides of his game, that’s extremely rare. I’m pretty sure he captained one of the teams in the All Stars games as well, so may have solid leadership qualities too!

A very Wells pick...all class, good on both sides and apparently relentless in defense. Looking forward to seeing him develop over 2018.

I expect he will be given a chance at some stage next year.

His right foot seems to be clean and well weighted. I think he’s an excellent kick.

Too many judgements and admonishments are made this time of year off 3 minutes of vid... we will see. Its easy to fall in love with a player and be disappointed when he is not drafted , I have tried to avoid that , especially this year. He seem close to what I was wanting but perhaps a little less polished than what I hoped for.On his kicking..I'll put it this way , I don't think he has been picked for his kicking ... to me his kick looks just good average kick. ... and say the same about Selwoods when he was drafted as well. He seems nippy enough so thats a tick for me and someone who tackle as much as him must handle contact well.

There is a lot of happiness about our picks based on the predraft rating... but where they were picked is the real peg in the ground. There were two or three players picked from nowhere in the top 20 , and two or three huge sliders. If we are happy and smiling ..Haw must be in fits of laughter.

Tackling pressure. This season we saw that our boys would sometimes play with ferocity. That doggies game comes to mind. Fogarty doesn't look like a sometimes pressure player.

Highlights always look good of course. However if those in the know are right about his attitude that's the sort of player this club needs.

Don't be surprised If he's in the side in round 1 mate.

I won't be overly surprised...but there's a good deal of competition...which is a great thing....

I want and need to see a lot lot more of him... but going purely on what is out there currently and the opinions / expressions of a few on here...

I find myself wanting to draw a forward pressure Rooke analogy.

Im gonna shelve that for now... but damn im hopeful.

Hasn't got the body for a Max. I think this was interesting draft as Wells has let someone like Murphy slip thru and gone more for a specific role. Both Fogerty and Miers ..when was the last time we drafted two of that size and role.

On that, I wonder why Murphy slipped?

Max didnt have a body for Max when he started either ..

I wasnt clear as to I was referring more to intent than impact in the short term...

The rig will come...

Apparently, Champion Data had this kid ranked 11th overall in draft order, so sounds like he's a good pick up. Hope he goes well.

I have heard this Champion Data stuff a bit ..id have to look at all the players that were rated low on champ data that have been successful ... and try to workout how transferable the stats from u18 are. If Champion data is the be all and end all... then Higgins should be a star.

179cm ... he is shorter than Selwood , doubt he become a max force player ...could he become a Chappy ball of muscle?

I don't think any source is the be all and end all, I just mentioned it out of interest. If you have a problem with that, tough.
