A good night for the small fwds. I'd like to see that kind of effort every week. Rioli was significantly better in the dogs game.Strangely Rioli got 13 disposals and laid 5 tackles.
Castagna got 9 disposals and 6 tackles.
Aarts got 7 disposals and 4 tackles.
Playing devils advocate, one could make an arguement he was the best of the three. But the quality of the posessions werent great and theres obviously more to it than disposals and tackles.
the space guarder
Been building since 17 prelimHe is building, will break a game open soon
Turns out Rioli hasn’t lost his speed?
Was an awesome play from him
His first qtr was extremely good and reminded me of some of that exciting football from his earlier years
He is a worry! He had two great moments in the game and early on you thought finally he is going to have a cracker. But lo and behold like a lot of his mates he fell off the cliff. This sort of scenario is a common theme with him.
For me just more of the same from him.
Can we let him be a attacking goal kicking forward or are we gonna continue the defend , guard space
Whatever the role his playing that's not giving us much , it's like Hardwick has coached him out of his natural flair , rioli and castagnas manic defensive pressure isn't working, think it's time to
Get them off the chain and let them do what small forwards are there for, kick goals.
There's something definitely not right. I see a lot of videos on instagram posted where he looks like he is out clubbing. When he ran on the wing, it was like the Rioli of old. Couldn't believe my eyes to a certain degree.
What on Earth is going on?
A 24 year old bloke who’s girlfriend is a professional DJ going out clubbing? There's something definitely not right. I see a lot of videos on instagram posted where he looks like he is out clubbing.
I think he isn't completely checked in right now, his body language is of a player going at 75 percent.
But I'm only guessing of course.
Nah it's not crazy but if he's out clubbing you have to assume he's out late, out drinking, etc, his mind and body probably not in the most "elite" place right now.A 24 year old bloke who’s girlfriend is a professional DJ going out clubbing?
Posting photos from an event from a team mates (Shai Bolton’s) girlfriends birthday event
That’s crazy
He was literally with his team matesNah it's not crazy but if he's out clubbing you have to assume he's out late, out drinking, etc, his mind and body probably not in the most "elite" place right now.
That's fair enough, didn't realise he was with them.He was literally with his team mates
You can’t have rules for some and not others
Na all good mateThat's fair enough, didn't realise he was with them.
Hey I'm just saying what I saw okay, trying to find a reason for him seemingly being down, given he clearly isn't playing like the player we know he can be.
Yep that’s frustrating.This. With George and Aarts, we already have 2 defensive forwards. Rioli the most skilled of the 3. Should be an attacking forward.
Yep that’s frustrating.
I hope they don’t play Maurice Junior the same way when he gets his opportunity
Plenty will argue that we’ve won 3 premierships based on a game style that requires our small forwards to lock it in/ guard space/ be ultra defensive. But I think the game has changed with the new rule changes, there’s bigger scores being kicked now is the time to play our small forwards in a more traditional attacking style.
It’s really frustrating when JR and Lynch are being double/ triple teamed but we can’t take advantage of that at ground level
