low bar mate - is "serviceable" from a 24 year old "enough"?

Grlj has played 1 game & its already better than Ralph-Smiths best.

Unless Ralph-Smith can find a niche role like Castagna did - he is not worth the list spot. We can't keep letting every player have a chance until they are 26, its madness.

I'm just saying that, if that can be Ralphsmith's "floor" for bad games, he could be a contirbutor at AFL level. Plenty worse than him last night. Was one who always looked to take the game on and go quickly.

Shouldn't be any near the dide on that performance mind you a senior player regardless of his contract

Hopper gonna be a fan favourite I rekon.
Only some dickheads with buyers remorse. Most of us realise he’s had a difficult 12 months and will need some time to gel and get fit. :D while we appreciate the offer, I’m sure most of us would rather keep him. :D
I have absolutely NO DOUBT that Hopper will be a great asset for Richmond football club and cant understand why anybody would even doubt this. By the end of the year this thread and the doubts will look ridiculous
Everyone worrying about a 7 year deal these contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on half the time, I think he will be considered a great pick up for us as the year goes on.
Hmmm......

Needs to either play as a tagger or not at all. Always just dump kicks it or turns it over! Unfortunately we haven’t got the Jacob Hopper we thought we might be getting.

Why would u pay out Hopper before Sonsie, Ralphshit, Ryan or Smith? Silly idea
Because those 4 contracts wouldn't even cover half of his salary. The guy is a fraud. I'd love to see his running numbers, everytime I watch him post stoppage he's walking around.

You pay him out because he's taking up a best 23 spot and would open a list spot. A list spot is more valuable than him currently.

Even if his best is playing as a def mid or run with against Petracca or to take over from Lalor who’s in their against a great midfield unit it’s worth playing him to have someone experienced in there.
He doesn’t need to be a 7 clearance player for others to benefit him being around

The 18 disposal game? 5 below average. He won't be dropped.
Ruck depth should be traded in. Ryan and Sims injured.2 SSP players looked at. Fawcett in the bad books. Le fau DD and Gray plays.
End of the day 4 point loss on Lynch in front of goal. Can't see us winning more than last year really.

Eventually Smillie, Hotton and Cummings return. Ross and Mcaulliffe are better options and on less coin. 100% needs to be traded out EOY as he's taking away valuable Centre attendances from our future. Taranto 100% justified the trade, Hopper didn't work out. He just turned 29, he's got 3 more years at approx $700k p/a. Club should offer him up straight swap for pick 20. Or pay $300k p/a and demand around pick 10.

A club in the window with a tight salary cap would pounce on that considering you don't get much for $400k these days, much less a best 22 starting mid bull, who is still a pretty bloody good footballer, despite his difficiencies.

Nobody is giving up Pick 10 for him even if we pay the entire salary.

We don't even want him in our side, and we are the 2nd worst side in the comp.

It's effectively a salary dump at this point. Take a 2nd rounder and run I reckon.

I don’t know what he gets you re trade, but we might need to acquire another R2 pick if 2026 Academy and FS players shine this season. future picks ?
We don’t have a lot to trade , we’ve got a heap of promising kids ( who you are not trading) , 3-4 Premiership players (over 30).
That leaves Taranto ( currently our best player) , Balta and Miller ( we need KPDs) and Hopper .
Personally, I think we’ll have one more big draft and add a couple of FAs 27 onwards.
Guessing Hopper stays.

Have said it before, we ruined Hopper the second he walked in and they put him on Jenny Craig and tried to turn him into a generic mid instead of a contested beast. He was a monster at GWS, without his strength he's lost his point of difference.

3rd rounder for Oliver. Dees paying his salary.

Smilie unknown. Hotton started getting CBA s.
Kmac just stuffs a few things up.

Prestia and broad finished this year. Nank and Lynch next.
Will have a lot of cap.

We will need to peptide him up first because he looks like he is falling off a cliff. Could barely do shit against a slow blues midfield.
