Re: 2007

My preferred time slots

1. Sunday arvo
2. Fri/Sat nite
4. Sunday early
5. Sat arvo

I don't mind a Sunday game starting between 2 and 3, but I hate the games that start at 12:40pm.

2006 Game crowds
Fri 810: 42025 (ESS Rd10), 47487 (KANG Rd16 Roo's 300th)
Sat 230: 42208 (FREO QF)
Sat 240: 41207 (WB Rd5), 41157 (CARL Rd9), 37446 (HAW Rd15 cold and blustery), 41364 (MELB Rd22)
Sat 300: 50514 (WCE PF)
Sat 710: 42723 (PA Rd6 Wet), 45658 (COLL Rd18)
Sun 1240: 41752 (GEEL R13), 43127 (FREO Rd19), 41549 (PA Rd21 Away)
Sunday 240: 43206 (WCE Rd2)

Just having a look at this years game crowds and the figures aren't that healthy for Saturday afternoons. There isn't enough to judge the later Sunday afternoon start, but the Sunday early game still drew better crowds than Saturday arvos. The biggest non finals crowds came for night games.

Adelaide's bonus seasonMICHELANGELO RUCCI, CHIEF FOOTBALL WRITER
October 25, 2006 12:15am

ADELAIDE is a big winner with the second draft of the AFL fixture to be released today.

The Crows have avoided the AFL's trait of placing an SA-based team in Perth in the last weekend of the 22-round home-and-away series.
Adelaide will close the 2007 minor round playing Collingwood in a Friday night match at Telstra Dome in Melbourne, ensuring the Crows have at least a break of seven days before any final.

This is far more attractive than the expected round 22 clash with West Coast at Subiaco, as the Crows had at the end of the 2005 home-and-away season when Adelaide won to claim the minor premiership.

The 16 AFL clubs yesterday were handed the second draft of the draw which will be released at AFL House in Melbourne today.

The second writing of the draw was prompted last week after concerns from the league's new telecasters, Channels 7 and 10.

Adelaide chief executive Steven Trigg last night confirmed the Crows would open the premiership season against Essendon at AAMI Stadium on Sunday, April 1. "In between (the first and last games) there is a good spread," Trigg said on Radio FIVEaa.

"Six games in Melbourne, four at the Dome and two at the MCG; one at Geelong, Brisbane, Carrara (on the Queensland Gold Coast) and in Perth.

"There is no consecutive travel over long distances. There is more Saturday night matches and less on Sunday at home.

"It's fair.

"It's one of the best fixtures we've had."

Port Adelaide chief executive John James remains in London and last night was still reviewing the new draft.

It is the Power's turn to start the season on the road - in Perth against Fremantle according to the first draft - and finish at AAMI Stadium in round 22.

7 night home games too, another bonus :thumbsu:

Only 1 trip to Perth, and not in rnd 22. Demie must be trying to butter us up after the woeful Father/Son decision.

That’s what I was thinking as well, he must want something. He is being to nice

Looks like a nice draw for once.

1 game against WCE
1 games against Sydney
2 games against Essendon
2 games against Brisbane

Plus we play Carlton away, so that will be an easy Away win.

And we will have the most time to recover for finals out of any teams as we are playing Friday night.

I might be back in Rd 20 if I'm lucky, so will catch the last 3, but honestly don't think I'll even get to those :( Preseason games and finals is all I think I'll achieve.

You jet setting overseas mate? :thumbsu:

Dude I'm gonna smack you upside the head and than you'll walk a mile.

The wheel is turning my friend

Anyone notice that Collingwood play 19 games in Melbourne! they make a trip to perth, a trip to brisbane and a trip to adelaide. And they dont leave Melbourne after Round 9!!
If thats not dodgy i dont know what is! (they'll still complain that intersate teams have an advantage though!)

Moving to the north of France for work in mid-March, not sure how long the contract is though.

Good work young son, working overseas is a blast and helps you grow up very quickly.

18 in Melbourne actually - 15 at the MCG.

You missed the R12 trip to Sydney. Playing at Telstra Stadium I guess you just misread and assumed it was in Melbourne at the Dome.
