Draft Review 2007 - Redo the 2007 Draft

Kreuzer is very good and will be very good, I can see him becoming the No.1 Ruckman in the competition over the next 3-4 years if his knee gets sorted out.
Has mobility, tap skills, mark and run. Plays liek a midfielder when the ball is in play.

But the difference between Kreuzer and say a less classy meat and bones ruckman like Sandilands/Jacobs/Maric/McEvoy is not as big a difference as say Cotchin and a standard midfielder

Kreuzer could become Cox-esque (not as good as Cox as he is the best there ever was and ever will be, but still good)
But I would take Cotchin or Dangerfield over Kreuzer because

Cotchin + Jacobs is better than Kreuzer + Robinson for example

And also anyone who thinks Cyril is or ever was anywhere in the top 5 of this draft is kidding themselves

Carlton - Cotchin (Best player in the draft have to take them at No.1)
Richmond - Dangerfield (Need Midfielders, second best in the draft)
West Coast - Callan Ward (classy midfielder)
Melbourne - Kreuzer (Need a ruckman)
WBD - Taylor Walker (need a DECENT forward which they don't have)
Essendon - Jack Grimes
(classy all round player, woudl fit essendon)
Fremantle - Cyril Rioli (Fremantle like these types)

My top 10 including rookie draft (no order)

1. Trent Cotchin-class act
2.Patrick Dangerfield-tough, fast freak mid
3.Brad Ebert-for port will form a great mid duo with hartlett, good skills
4.Shane Mumford-He was one of the last selected in the rookie draft and since then has been a great ruck for the cats and swans
5.Cyril Rioli-personally, I think he is highly overrated, I still have to admit he is a good young, dynamic player
6.Scott Selwood-big improver this year, tough-typical Selwood.
7.Matthew Kruezer-hasn't shown much yet but looks to be a great ruck for the blues in years to come :)
8.Harry Taylor-Premiership winning defender who is great, I would have though he was old though, he looks so experienced
9.Alex Rance-Good full back who is improving all the time and kept buddy to 1 goal!! Big achievement :D
10.Taylor Walker-big improver this year and stated why he is one of the premier FF's

Brad Ebert good skills?

Top 10 ruckmen:
1. Dean Cox
2. Sam Jacobs
3. Ivan Maric
4. Nic Naitanui
5. Shane Mumford
6. Aaron Sandilands
7. Patrick Ryder
8. Todd Goldstein
9. Tom Bellchambers
10. Matthew Kreuzer

There you go, he makes it in I reckon.
8 - 10 is pretty tight.
I reckon this list is a little more accurate than the one above:

1. Cox
2. Jacobs
3. NicNat
4. Sandi (would be number one easily if he played the majority of games)
5. Mumford
6. Maric
7. Kreuzer
8. Goldstein
9. Giles
10. Bellchambers

Top 3 are basically all dead even going on 2012 form. No way is Ryder anyway near this list.

Leuenberger and Jolly need to be in there as well.

Kreuzer is in the 10-15 range IMO.

Good list. Agree on Ryder - he is lazy and uncompetitive when things don't go his way.

1. Carlton - Trent Cotchin
2. Richmond - Patrick Dangerfield
3. West Coast - Taylor Walker
4. Melbourne - Callan Ward
5. Western bulldogs - Matthew Kruezer
6. Essendon - Cyril Rioli
7. Fremantle - Harry Talyor
8. Brisbane - Brad Ebert
9. St Kilda - Shane Mumford
10. Adelaide - Jack Grimes
11. Sydney - Lachlan Henderson
12. Hawthorn - Alex Rance
13. West Coast - Scott Selwood
14. Melbourne - Jack Steven
15. North Melbourne - Chris Masten
16. Port Adelaide - Tom Bellchambers
17. Geelong - Scott Thompson
18. Richmond - Ben McEvoy
19. Western Bulldogs - Denis Armfield
20. West Coast - Rhys Palmer

Not enough love for Scott Selwood. Would take him every day of the week over Grimes and Ebert, maybe Ward too.

Would still take Masten over Ebert, Grimes. Masten had a severely underrated 2012, will be huge in 2013.

You are underrating Ryder he smashes Kreuzer and is probably the second or third best center bounce ruckman in the league.

.
Good list. Agree on Ryder - he is lazy and uncompetitive when things don't go his way.

Let me guess you are also a fan of Goldstein...

I'm horribly biased, but Myers is underrated in this thread. Injury has followed him, but watch his second half against Sydney this year for what he can do.

He's not the sixth best player in this draft, but not getting a gig ahead of the likes of Armfield and Palmer is madness.

Ryder has tricks & can improve his consistency, Goldy on the other hand.......
Ess has back-up options if Paddy's out of form, Norf on the other hand.......
If his tricks are sulking, having no impact in games, totally giving up in contests and having zero physical presence then I am with you. Let me know when an Ess ruck man makes the Aa squad. 3 ruckman are needed when 1 is lazy, 1 is over the Hille and 1 VFL quality. Just rotate sh!t with sh!t.

In one game he played a good half. I am sold. Superstar!!

Well why does crazy Hirdy play him as a forward? No chance he smashed Kreuzer - he is in the same 12-15 best rucks. Goldy is much better than any ruckman on your list.

Goldstein has been found out as being soft. All the opposition ruckman has to do is put physical pressure on him and he goes to water see round 16 for example.

2011 greater than anything Belly or Ryder have or will ever produce.

I am not sure what Kreuzer has done to warrant being ahead of Goldstein, Bellchambers, Ryder or McEvoy.
Certainly has scope for dramatic upside but, on what they have presented in their respective careers, all should basically be ahead of Kreuzer (with no disrespect to his career offset by injuries as it is).

Giles shouldn't be there.

Kreuzer has smashed Mumford and Maric with better alround games due to his mobility and second efforts. Has more weapons and ability than Sauce who is still a plodder with his lack of agility and ability below his knees. Few rucks can match the Bulldozer's agility and alround game.

McEvoy and Bellchambers haven't shown as much as Kreuzer who has more ability. Kreuzer still had 44 hitouts against McEvoy when he needed a minor knee operation.

Warnock has smashed Bellchambers and Ryder as the sole ruck in the finals. Hampson and Warnock also had Hille's and Bellchambers' measure with Kreuzer out.
But I would take Cotchin or Dangerfield over Kreuzer because

Cotchin + Jacobs is better than Kreuzer + Robinson for example
Strange argument if you're including Robinson and not a Yarran...

Relavance? His 2011 season won't help you win games in the future.
When he gets back to that level he will again take a massive dump on all 3 ess ruckman. Ryder one of the best centre ruck man but the coach plays him out if the centre. Either you are full of it of Hird is crazy. Happy for either.
