2008 player prices (forwards)

you will have to trade 5 or 6 of those out by the end of the year to be competitive.

all you've done there is named 7 players who are (arguably) good value. noone in those names are elite DT scorers, except Hall, who is finished.

the decision with Hall depends on how much better will his 2008 be than his 2007. he will not be the diamond in the rough pricewise people are looking for.

I reckon Hall might be a diamond in the rough. He had a massive drop in output this year. Could have been injury related.

I reckon I might go:
Elites:
1) J.Brown
2) Fevola
3) Franklin

Value bets:
4) Hall
5) Didak

Cash cows:
6) Hawkins
7) Varcoe
8) Rioli
9) Thorp

I'd be worried you may have 4 zeroes in your forward line come round 1.

Hawkins and Varcoe probably aren't going to play round 1, neither will Thorp.

Rioli?

2 will be on the bench and obviously for me to select them they need to have good NAB cup form and be selected round 1.

My best guess is that all 4 will be named round 1 though.

Who will go out for Varcoe and Hawkins to come in?

What makes you think Thorp and Rioli will be selected?

Who will go out for Varcoe and Hawkins to come in?

What makes you think Thorp and Rioli will be selected?

- Rioli is a gun small forward and I reckon he will play depending on who drafts him.
- Thorp is destroying players in the VFL and I think he may get a go at CHB for the Hawks or replace Boyle.
- Varcoe will replace Byrnes, should develop a bit more and overtake him.
- Hawkins looks like he will force his way into the side. Don't know who he will replace but watching him play suggest as soon as he is fit he will be a very good AFL player.

Those 4 are the least important anyway. I would never select one of those guys if they didn't have good form and they weren't selected week one.

Sorry, but Fevola and Franklin are nowhere near consistent enough to be categorised at 'elites'
Fwd elites this year include:
Riewoldt, Pavlich, B.Johnson (although getting old nxt year perhaps?), J.Brown, GAblett, Chapman
Then there are the serviceable players like: Lucas, Franklin, O'Keefe, Fevola etc. Not really consistent enough to deserve a higher ranking.
You'd think that Franklin could establish himself as an 'elite' dt forward in 08.

That is precisely why you grab them though. you know they will be elite and are currently underpriced because of a lack of consistency in 07. Fev had so many off field issues it's not funny and Franklin when from the most accurate kick in the league to one of the worst. I expect both of those things to change.

Chapman, Reiwoldt & Ablett are going to drop in price. You don't grab players that are going to drop in price.

Sorry, I agree with Beau here.

If Fev is your second "elite" DT forward, you're in for a very long year.

And of course you can get players who will drop in price. That forward line is rubbish. It has one quality DT forward, 4 big risks, and 4 players who have never shown anything.

Is nobody considering Akermanis or Buchanon? Both around 285. If the swans stop playing in slow motion, Buchanon will majorly benefit from it. And Aker will be settling in more at the bulldogs, with Johnson and Westy getting older. Could mean improvement?

On the other hand, 285 is still fairly expensive, and perhaps a cash cow would be more worthwhile. People's thoughts?

Aker isn't exactly getting any younger. No and no for mine, too expensive.
