Draft Review 2008 - Re-do the 2008 draft

Mate, I was referring to your first attempt at increasing Wellinghams actual output to support your argument. As someone else has said Wellingham has never even had 40 possies and it is laughable to suggest he had 19 i50s... and you think we overrate Rockliff...
No you weren't, go back and read what you wrote.

Does it change the fact that you still tried to increase his stats to support your argument? Mate, as I said before I believe Rocky is the second best midfielder from this draft, just behind Beams. What I do have a problem is that you seem to think you can find a VFL player to come in and play like Rocky... that is total BS. You are seriously under rating Rocky on his current output... did he bully you at school or something?

Lots of VFL mids Are capable of accumulating possessions, but they only play VFL level because they don't bring anything else to the table not unlike Rockliff.

Let's look at the facts, Rockliff doesn't kick or create goals, he only averages 4 Clearences a game, he isn't quick and he doesn't have great skills.

Yet he got 21 Brownlow Votes last season playing a lot of time up forward, has won a BnF, is likely to be co-captain for 2014 and is still improving his game. All he needs is to have an injury free preseason (injured this preseason alllready)and season and he will be recognized as a very good mid. I bet you had him in your DT/SC teams...

So apparently Rockliff played a lot forward this year....... Stats compared to Hanners.

Got nothing intelligent to say?
I thought that was more intelligent than half the crap that is constantly being repeated.

Both Rockliff and Fyfe are good players. I believe Fyfe is the better player and he is the better player by a fair margin, but I wouldn't trade Rockliff for Fyfe. Rockliff is such an important player off and on the field. He is completely untouchable.

This is a completely reasonable view. Ablett might be better than Watson but there's no way I'd trade them.

ay,

Compared to the dribble you've been posting, that's 100 times better.

As Bert said, both are quality players who will be guns of the compeition in years to come. Right now, Fyfe is ahead of Rockliff but I agree with the notion that Rockliff is an untouchable from the Lions' point of view.

1) There is no "might" about it.
2) A trade that would improve a list would be taken by every club. You would not swap Ablett for Watson because the Suns would not be that stupid. Your love of the player is not a factor.

No - from your point of view.

Obviously such a trade would never be proposed - you're missing the point there. You're also ignoring the impact that Watson has on his teammates. Ablett's a good leader but he wouldn't be able to establish the relationship that Watson has with the other Essendon players. Yes, Ablett is certainly a better player but what he adds onfield is not worth fracturing the group by removing such a vital member of the team - as a player and captain. You're simply wrong if you think Essendon would trade Watson for Ablett.

Yes, cause the Lions are looking to trade him to the Demons for pick 2 next year.
What are you getting at? He's just as much an untouchable as Swallow or Ziebell for your team.

No such thing as untouchable - you would keep Rockcliffe is GWS offered you Cameron? I would help pack JZ and Spitta's bag.

Unless you are a player you are guessing what his team mates think of him and his impact on them.

How fractured were Geelong when Ablett left? Primary school thinking clinging onto players because you have an emotional attachment in them.

Give me a the better player and the flag over the lesser player and mediocrity.

So there is not 1 North player you wouldn't trade for Watson as Watson would be that better player you guys are looking for.
In your words
Give me a the better player and the flag over the lesser player and mediocrity.
So I guess North have the lesser players and mediocrity in this case, unless they trade.

So tell me this, you say
Give me a the better player and the flag over the lesser player and mediocrity.
so how is it that teams with lesser players than Lockett and Ablett Snr have won flags, you do realize it takes a lot more then 1 champion player to win a flag, and in the Ablett / Watson case it wouldn't benefit GC or Essendon as both are the heart and soul of their clubs.
