There is a real difference between the top teams and bottom next year obviously (for the idiots out there) it depends on injuries. I know im biased but Reiwoldt going 2 years without injury come on!!!!

Saints with cousins, maguire, baker back in form could do anything .... but take it from me they won't UNfortunetly:(

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

1. Hawthorn - They are the best. Complete side.
2. Geelong - Need Hawkins to play and step up to match the Best.
3. St. Kilda - Luck with injuries and form they are a good side but lack depth.
4. Carlton - Expect a massive improvement even on last year, their time has come.
5. Western Bulldogs - Good smalls but lack talls, Johnno and Acker are getting old, if they have a full list will do ok.
6. North Melbourne - good eaven side with no real stand outs appart from Boomer, Need another key forward but have a good midfield.
7. Bisbane - Might improve in the midfield/defence and just make finals need a fully fit list.
8. Richmond - Nearly made it last year, have a young side that will improve.

9. Adelaide - Getting older and lacking a key forward and need to replace Basset (key defender)...
10. Essendon - Carrying too many oldies still and their kids arent ready yet. They still have a fair way to go in rebuilding.
11. Collingwood - overachieved last year, are slow and lack forward speed, could make finals if Rocca and Rusling especially have a good one but I don't rate Rocca. Could easily make the lower end of the finals list again if all off field stuff is right and have luck with injuries.
12. West Coast - Kerr and Priddis will save them from a near spoon finish, should be rebuilding and looking at trading Kerr to the GC when the time comes for picks.
13. Sydney - Too old, old bodies will struggle to get through and are gonna be in real trouble in a few years. One year away from going into the rebuilding process.
14. Port Adelaide - Are at the beginning of the rebuild stage.
15. Fremantle - Same as Port.
16. Melbourne - Also rebuilding.

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

1. Port Adelaide - After a year of underperforming they'll take the comp. by surprise and shoot out of the blocks.
2. Hawthorn - Their forward line will be a little more predictable, and as people manage their zoning, they'll not win as many games.
3. Carlton - With Judd and Fevola at their best, with the rest of the team beginning to perform, they'll finish strongly.
4. North Melbourne - Will pick up a lot from this year.
5. Richmond - Will finally perform to their expectations and give the finals a good go.
6. Geelong - Just not the same team as that of 07/08 after the devestating GF loss, teams will take the Pies model and begin to beat them more consistently.
7. Sydney - Defying all predictions once again, the youth of Sydney will show the depth available to the club to still keep a grip on the Finals for one more roll of the dice for retiring greats MOL, Kenelly, and Barry.
8. West Coast - A strong youth policy will pay dividends with the club drastically improving.
9. Adelaide - Sadly just missing out despite Craig's acclaimed new strategy.
10. Western Bulldogs - Just not the same motivation as 08, with them slipping quite a way.
11. Essendon - Improving on 08 to edge a little closer to Finals footy.
12. Fremantle - Taking a youth policy, they will play quite a lot of new players and aim to settle their list for a push in 2010.
13. St Kilda - As underperforming in 09 as Port were in 08.
14. Collingwood - A shock drop for this club as Malthouse finally realises the need to aim for a youth policy as they lose many of their first matches.
15. Brisbane - With a junior coach in charge with little experience, they can hardly hope for much better.
16. Melbourne - Still stuck around the bottom of the ladder, but 2010 will look very promising for the Dees.

It all pretty much explains itself. A lot of people have Carlton and Richmond pretty high, but I think they will need another year before they are serious top 4 contenders.

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

I did this the day of or after the draw came out and gave adelaide about 3 or 4 50/50 games. I would chane a few of Adelaide results to get rid of my biased choices but wont know who to add the win too. (but that would only change Adelaide and Carlton.)

1. Geelong 20-2
2. Hawthorn 19-3
3. Collingwood 17-5
4. Adelaide 15-7
5. Carlton 14-8
6. St Kilda 11-11
7. Western Bulldogs 11-11
8. Sydney 10-12

9. Richmond 9-13
10. Brisbane 9-13
11. Fremantle 9-13
12. West Coast 9-13
13. Port Adelaide 8-14
14. Essendon 5-17
15. North Melbourne 5-17
16. Melbourne 5-17

I even went into detail of the finals, i must of been bored.

Week 1.
Geelong D Adelaide
Hawthorn D Collingwood
Carlton D Sydney
Western Bulldogs D St Kilda

Week 2.
Adelaide D Carlton
Western Bulldogs D Collingwood

Week 3.
Geelong D Western Bulldogs
Hawthorn D Adelaide

Grand Final.
Geelong D Hawthorn.

Just made these up now.

Norm Smith. Joel Corey

Brownlow. Joel Selwood

Rising Star. Patrick Dangerfield

Coleman. Brendan Fevola 96 goals.

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

Ok I do one now after the draft, not much will change after pre season draft. Then I do one after NAB Cup, and one Half way, thats it.
Then I see how I go

1. Hawthorn (Set the benchmark, still room to improve, are on the up Geelong are not)
2. Carlton (big movers, close competition, prob wont' be too strong in finals)
3. Bulldogs (Should win some games, no real changes from last season)
4. Collingwood (in with the pack in a tight competition)
5. Geelong (Teams are working Geelong out, and will use to advantage)
6. Richmond (should happen, Wallace needs it or is out)
7. Port Adelaide (should be there, lets face it, in the minor rounds in 07 we finished 2nd, at worst 8th, were no worse than then, but better now)
8. St Kilda (still don't have it to win games consistently)
9. Brisbane (just not ready yet, will not win needed games)
10. Kangaroos (with some big movers in Carlton and Richmond, and Port from last year, its going to be hard for the Kangas to get in)
11. Fremantle (slightly better than last year, give them two more seasons and expect top 4)
12. Adelaide (Big slide, other teams are moving forward, Adelaide is falling behind, young guys are not proven players yet)
13. Sydney (another big slider, just can't stay competetive, with the list.
14. Melbourne (should win some games, enough not to get the spoon again)
15. Essendon (Just not ready yet, inexperienced, tight competition
16. West Coast (from last year nothings changed, Nata wont do much in the first season, I don't expect much from the Eagles.

This is my opinion, its tough, because the bottom 4 could be on 4-8 wins
middle 8 could be 12 wins, and top 4 way ahead. I might have Richmond at 6 but they could quite easily finish 12th.

Brownlow/Coleman - Lance Franklin
+100 goals Franklin, Fevola
Rookie of the year - 1. Hurley, 2. Trengove, 3. Mckernan

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

16. Melbourne 5-17
I will neck myself if the MFC were dumb enough to miss out on the first 2 picks of next years draft by winning more than 4 games.

2009 will be the year of the TANK:

Hawthorn 18-4
Richmond 16-6
Geelong 16-6
Collingwood 16-6
W Bulldogs 15-7
Adelaide 14-8
Port Adel 14-8
West Coast 12-10
----------------
Carlton 12-10
St Kilda 12-10
North Melb 11-11
Fremantle 4-18
Essendon 4-18
Sydney 4-18
Brisbane 4-18
Melbourne 4-18

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

1. Carlton: clearly the best young team in comp with an unstoppable midfield
2. St kilda: Should easily make the top 2 with an all round great side
3. West Coast: only did so badly last year because of all the injuries
4. Essendon: had lots off injuries last year so will automatically make the top 4
5. Freo: still a very good team
6. Hawthorn: will drop after last season as other teams will catch up
7. Geelong: the same as hawthorn
8. Collingwood: still going to be a decent team again in '09

9. Richmond: 9th
10. Melbourne: with lots of good young players will improve a lot
11. Port: not good enough to make the 8 will only improve slightly
12. Brisbane: have finished about here the last 4 seasons will do it again
13. North: this will be the year they drop down the ladder
14. Sydney: there teams too old will barely win a game
15. Bulldogs: not one key position player will have a big drop after last year
16. Adelaide: all their best players are too old

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

1- Geelong- Is the best team in the AFL
2- Stkilda- Will have a big year
3- Hawks- Premiership hangover and wont fire till round 7
4- Collingwood- The amount of home games they get!!! (melb)
5- Westcoast- Only fell away due injuries, Wont happen twice.
6- Brisbane- The jumper, I just think they are in for a big year.
7- Carlton- Judd and Fev, They need a Real Defender though.
8- Bulldogs- Slider, They have a hard draw unlike Collingwood.

9- Essendon- With Prissy in the Midfield they look good.
10- Sydney- May slip this year with the age of their Core.
11- Nth Melbourne- Will bite me again but I cant see them in the 8
12- Richmond- Should be in the 8 but need another key forward
13- Adelaide- Didnt do enough during trade or draft, took Project players.
14- Port Adelaide- Wont be down here for too long Drafted well.
15- Melbourne- Wont be on the bottom and the Young brigade is good
16- Fremantle- Lost alot of talent/Experiance and they drafted for the future, Dont think Palmer will have such an easy start to the year again, and who else can supply Pav with the Pill.

Premiers- Geelong
Spooners- Freo
NAB ROY- Daniel Rich - Brisbane
Brownlow- Joel Selwood- Cats
Head line of the year- Havey under fire at Freo for not taking Rich.
