???
That is what the championships and TAC cup are for, dumbarse.
The DC is very useful as it displays athletic capabilities peer to peer, something that is very hard to tell when watching a match.
The truth is that fitness and athleticism are as important to football as they have ever been. The game is much faster and more cardio-intensive than it used to be, hence the increasing emphasis on DC results.
Guys like Greg Williams are a dying breed.

Re: Draft Camp predictions

great job by vinnie vegas coming into this thread and whinging about what might happen after the draft camp

exactly what u like to see from mods
Apologies.

I should have just repeated a group of draft camp participant's names in a semi-random order, rather than attempting a bit of levity that has been taken way too seriously.

Many apologies, good sir.

Re: Draft Camp predictions

Lucas's stocks will rise after this, should do very well with 0-20 sprints, repeat sprints, time trail, beep test, kicking and vertical leap tests. Not sure how well he will do in the agility department but hes good speed so he should do well.

You do realise that the AFL has introduced a kicking skills test to the raft of tests conducted at draft camp this year?

The original question was nowhere near as dumb as you made it out to be.

You might want to familiarise yourself with the content of this article:

The kicking results will be very intresting, certainly will suprise people.
Allot of these kids have been in the system for years, clubs that have eyes around all the junior comps can be relativly certain about what types of players they are going to get.
DC results can really make the difference between choosing one player and another, you cant underestimate the importance of particular athletic abilites, if one say top ten player in the draft has a great vertical leap or is quick but does not make full advantage of it then you can certainly get that player to work on his game once he joins your club.

Well said mate. I think that the draft camp is more to get a better under-standing of endurance, agility ect ( the recruiters would already know but this just clarifies this)

Give me a break.
I mentioned the kicking test twice in the OP, you patronizing malcontent.
Regardless of your pedanticism, the principle of the DC is, and always has been; athleticism and fitness.
The kicking test is really a gimmick and the scoring system is dumb. Also doesn't take in to account pressure, distraction or kicking on the run, let alone the ability to prove consistency.

How is the beep test measured? I thought it was how many sets you completed in a given time. Like an agility test with endurance component. AFL site has an article about Tom Scully which says he did one at the AIS and "had to be pulled up at 15.5". Any ideas?

Nat Fyfe has a crazy vertical leap. expect him to finish well in this department

Scully was just showed on ten news and looked very sick. i don't think he will compete as just had minor knee surgery last week but if he did he would smash the 3k record and probably the beep test as well. He ran 9.26 on grass for the 3k earlier this year and the record is 9.46 or there abouts

Kane Lucas ran 7.77s in the agility test, rivaling Hill's time last year. He says of all the tests that is probably his weakness and is looking forward to the endurance tests. Hell of an athlete.

Mora hasn't fully recovered from a quad injury from 3 weeks ago and wont be completing all the tests. Which is a good thing for WCE but i doubt he will slide down that far

hopefully fitzpatrick carves it up and fools someone into taking him before our pick 21 rolls around
