Harvey tops draft combine jump test
Naitanui recorded a standing leap of 78cm in 2008 with Eastern Ranges’ midfielder Brad Harvey the closest this year with an impressive 75cm effort.

That’s no mean feat for Harvey who, at 184cm, is significantly smaller than the 201cm West Coast ruckman.

Standing vertical jump top 10 Position Attendee Result
1st Brad Harvey 75cm
=2nd Nathan Batley 71cm
=2nd Anton Hamp 71cm
4th Joel Wilkinson 66cm
=5th Kieran Harper 65cm

=7th Shaun Atley 64cm
=7th Dyson Heppell 64cm
=9th Seb Tape 63cm

timely reminder to recruiters in the TAC GF....might be worth a look from 20 on but for mine 18 would be a bit of a stretch.

Hypothetically if we snag 14 from Adelaide, what are the chances we stretch a little? I was at the TAC GF and was impressed, his DC results put him at taller than I expected and a FF to play alongside Hendo at CHF for 10 years is appealing.

This is all the usual BF stuff, speculating on faves and all, but please indulge me

198cm is getting close to Tippett size, his straight line speed is ok, agility and turning circle not great, also missed a large chunk of the year including champs...for a top 20 pick you might have wanted a better look at him.....still projects outside the top 20 for mine....I still think some top line talent might be a chance to 'fall' through to 18

that's not to say I'm right or wrong...it's all just opinions. Mitchell certainly has some talent

Can you teach agility?

By the sounds of it, he's a Koshitski type player...close?

In size he will end up thereabouts.....the games I've seen he's not been used much in the ruck by Calder.....spent most time at FF/CHF and some time at CHB.....he's more a KPP that's just had a growth spurt.

See, this is what I don't get. As if there is some intrinsically hierarchy that does not alter when put in another context. First of all, what is the difference between two draft places and how likely are we to have another pick around the mark? What if the player designated 18th best was a ruckman? I'm all for taking 'best available' but you can't tell me that circumstances shouldn't and don't influence how we perceive it. It's about time we put away the pen and paper and 'used the force', so to speak.

*Edit* Yeah, I just read your reply to another post but I'll let mine stand because it touches on a few things that weren't mentioned earlier.

It's really not that difficult to understand.....it's actually you that makes things more complicated than they have to be ;):p

Does the Ablett trade mean that our pick 18 could potentially be pushed back for the compensation picks?

Cheers

I don't think so...if geelong get a first rounder, it still has to be taken after their actual first round pick.....source: coryne :thumbsu:

Can you teach agility?

Only until you use a Thunderstone and evolve him.

There's a video on the afl.com.au website, with an interview with Brett Ratten. There's a shot of our crew interviewing Callum Sinclair. Probably doesn't mean a whole lot, but I thought I'd bring it up.

I reckon we should look at LuKe Parker if he falls into our lap. Hes had a bit of an off year but hes a super talent. Has pretty good skills, kicks a lot of goals and is a very competitive. Would fit very nicely in our midfield :thumbsu:

Kevin Sheehan says:
Hard-running player who is strong overhead and around goal, has elite endurance and is super competitive. Vic Country representative at the 2010 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, where he averaged 18 disposals and three clearances.

In this own words...
What type of player are you?
Very competitive player who likes wining the contested ball. Can go forward and kick goals or set up scoring opportunities. Very team oriented.

Which AFL player do you feel you resemble, and why?
Jimmy Bartel because he has a fierce attack on the ball, is team oriented and has a strong overhead mark.

Which AFL team do you support and how did you come to barrack for them?
Carlton - my father and grandfather barrack for Carlton.
:)

Is there a BF group think and fan boy base for Rohan Bewick?

Rohan Bewick

Waiting for the Combine to confirm a few things but the key points:
Pros: Speed, Good attacking style, Good size for a midfielder / flank, above average kicking skills (particularly goal kicking on the run)
Cons: No outstanding attribute, mature age player (22)
Why Freo?: Just seems a good talent, a bit to work with, ready to go.
Also Considered: Luke Mitchell was more something I thought fitted team needs but I am not firmly convinced that he will make it at the next level.

Rohan and Shaun, twins IIRC, are indeed 21. They've been out of colts a few years.

Rohan is very, very good overhead, for his size, as well. Worth rookie listing IMO.

Beep test/shuttle run - Top 10
9 Rohan Bewick 14 7

Running vertical jump - Top 10
8 Rohan Bewick 82

Wouldn't mind rookie listing Bewick and giving him a chance.

Fresh blood might work harder than someone like Veszpremi and Everitt who are yet to secure a spot after three and four seasons.

Another WA Blue.

Goal kicking wingman.

Draft combine snippets – day two
Whose idea was this?

The Blues picked the wrong place to bunker down for a quiet chat. The cafe at the AIS Arena is a preferred site for clubs looking to get away from the combine action and discuss things, but on Wednesday it was anything but serene. Cartoon sensation Ben 10 put on a live show that attracted dozens of screaming kids. Brett Ratten spent a good portion of his quiet coffee posing for pictures with fans.
