I'm not being critical, it is more a general observation about the D&T board as well. A lot of people seem to like him, for mine he is just a vanilla outside mid with ok but not tearaway speed and without any huge offensive weapon

When you questioned me a while ago, I sat back and had a second thought with regards to this player. I know his testing results did not show it, but he seems quicker in a game.

He does use whatever pace he does have to good use and has some depth to his kicking and he is fairly accurate. On more consideration, I've moved him a little down the list, but he should be a late 3rd round selection in my eyes.

Stamos got his question answered by Emma yesterday, I assume it is the same one who posts here.

"Hi Emma, love your draft coverage. Do you think Carlton will go for a tall @18, and who would be the best fit of those likely to be available (McCarthy/Darling/Watson)?

Thanks Stamos, appreciated. Yep I think they'll go tall and I think you have named the three big contenders right there. I think Watson.

Other Carlton related questions -

"Would McCarthy or Watson be a better fit for Carlton at pick 18?

Hi Brendan. Watson is bigger, loves the contest, the big spoils and the body on body stuff. McCarthy is very cool headed, can zone off and run, although is also a solid mark. Watson has the bigger body, McCarthy more athletic. You decide! :)

"Could you please tell if you think Carlton are looking at going tall at picks 34 and 41.

Hi Andy. I think it'll happen at 18, but with those other picks it will depend on who falls through. If one of their highly rated mids is there surely they'd just pick him. Have also heard they might look at a few older players this year but not sure who at this stage.

"Emma, Wayne Hughes usually selects the best available, not on a needs basis. do you believe he will stick with this philosophy this year, considering Carlton need a KPD?

Hi Matt. This year is definitely a little different in that if you dont pick the best option for your needs with your first pick, your choices in the 2nd and 3rd rounds will be much more limited. But there are a number of good talls around this year and many of them will still be there at 17 - I'm sure Hughesy will have one or two of them on his list of favourites!

"Hi Emma,

Considering the three best defenders in the 10-20 range..out of Watson, Tape & McCarthy wo are Carlton most likely to secure?
Thanks!

Hi Ryan. See previous answers but you have named 3 good ones. I think Tape will be gone already, leaving Watson and McCarthy. I think Watson.

- Emma"

"Emma, thanks for your response. Good to hear that Hughes will go tall for the first pick. As a follow up to that, do you think he will go tall again at pick 34? If so, what strong inside midfielders would be available at Pick 42?

Thanks Matt... wish I could give you some solid names for 42 but it's a bit far down the order for me, I have the names sussed out up until about 30 but after that I'd probably be making it up in regards to who they have genuine interest in. Some who should be there, though.... Warrick Andreoli, Brad Harvey, Aaron Mullett, Jordan Schroder...

- Emma"

Andreoli....that's for you Splendini ;)

"Where do you see Luke Mitchell going this Thursday?

Brisbane or Richmond. But that may change!"

This woman is actually doing the journalism yards when it comes to her research. Beats trawling through bins like some others I could mention - Hutchy and Caro. Splendini should be associating himself with people like this (or vice versa).

She is one of the few journalists who have managed to gain the respect of BigFooty. That is certainly something to be proud of! :p

Not particularly psyched about those picks either but she did say that she wasn't really sure of the players available after 30 and who would be left.

What kind of draft watcher is she!?! :p;)

Have heard from a couple of sources, that i believe (neither work at the club mind you) that we are hoping to pick Michael Hibberd from Frankston with one of our later picks.

Think it's great if true.

Have heard the same and would happy with it from what I have heard about him. I haven't seem him play this year, considering I'm playing footy when they show most VFL games on ABC and I doubt Frankston would have been high on their to show list. :o

Big Cook can handle the heat

Cook, who spent 2010 alternating between attack and defence for TAC Cup side the North Ballarat Rebels, is one of few key position players tipped to be taken in the first 30 picks.

He was one of only 11 players to score a perfect five out of five at the Nathan Buckley-designed kicking test

Hibberd - Tough, Clean, Smart and he uses it well.
I was amazed he didn't get picked up in 2008 and 2009.
I think he'll mould into a real hard man in the back pocket.

We haven't got the hardest list so he is an appropriate pick up IMO.

He's gone out and played better VFL for 2 years than any other guy his age. And that's including draftees.

I've always said that I'd like to see Army eventually move into the midfield as a tagger.

Hibberd could be just the man to make this happen.

I've only seen Hibberd once and I was impressed.

From what I've seen and what I've read, I'd be all for us taking him with one of our later picks.

We could do a hell of a lot worse.
