I have heard a Few Names we are Keen on and I will post them up with the Info where it say we are Intrested

#58 Collingwood: Isiah Stevens (Swan Districts) Height: 183 kg Weight: 75kg D.O.B: 09/09/92
Stevens is a livewire forward who recorded outstanding scores for power, speed and marking. Consistency is said to be an issue but he is likely to be rookied due to his X-factor. Collingwood are reportedly keen on him and at this stage of the rookie draft, should swoop.

Would Love to Draft this Guy in the Rookie Draft. Has Massive Upside but needs to show Consistency

50. Collingwood Magpies: Chris Luff, 191cm, 86kg, 7.1.1991, Peel Thunder (WAFL), Defender

Dissapointeldy overlooked in last years draft, Luff went away and worked on his game and had a super year in the WAFL which has put him back on the minds of recruiters. Collingwood I have heard are interested in him so put him in here.

Don't know much about Luff

Other Names I here in the Mix for us:

  • Tom Gordon
  • Daniel Nichlson
  • Josh Jenkins
  • Jack Frost
  • Jake Vonbertouch
  • Rhys Cooyou

That's What I have Heard and Read.

So you guys here anything?

Many of those names look right. Others rumoured include:
Tyler Chalwell
Nathan Phillips
Matthew Rankine

Haven't heard anything on Frost, Von Bertouch or Gordon. Wouldn't be disappointed if we took any of those though with that said.

Rankine, Nicholson and Phillips would be near the top of my list of wants along with Gordon as a KPP.

Rankine adds a little more talent up forward. Phillips and Nicholson add something immediate. Gordon is a nice Jack replacement as a potential dual end KPP, probably more of a defender though, so ideal since Presti also retired.

Yeah with Going Medium in the National Draft I think we should Go Tall in the Rookie Draft.

Be Interesting if we do call out Nathan Phillips name as we been linked to him nearly 3 Quarter of the Season

Don't often get many good KPPs in the rookie draft. I'd certainly get a minimum of one. But you don't add a rookie thinking "this will be a sure thing".

Ben Brown and Tom Gordon are probably the two I'd take and I think both if given the opportunity can make it. Josh Walker and Brandyn Grenfell would also be on that list.

But taking 4/4 KPPs would be pointless. Might as well add x2 more complimentary players who might be able to do something more immediate.

But a balance between the two in certainly necessary. And it will probably come down to who we like.

Fair Enough and Going all KPP would be a bit over the top as you say not many AFL KPP come from the Rookie Draft.

Think we will get at least 1 Small Aborignal Small Forward with Cooyou and Stevens have both been Mentioned as Possible Targets.

With 4 Picks will be intresting as you can Gurantee the Last Pick will be something out of the Blue

Yeah, but could still be a nice third forward tall there needing a lot of work and time, and a KPD who's taken a different path - even if just as insurance to help the VFL team out for a year or two if they don't kick on?

After that, plug some gaps for possible key smalls injuries during 2011/2 and Bob's still our uncle. Already got 5 'for the futures' in the ND, plus Blair, Keeffe and Young.

All good.

Here's my guess as to who we'll pick:

Pick #1. Ben Brown
Pick #2. Jack Frost
Pick #3. Isiah Stevens
Pick #4. Liam Rutledge

B.Brown would be unlikely to reach our first pick but, if available I would swoop. If he isn't available go for another tall forward i.e Darcy Barden / Tom Gordon etc.

Don't know if we will go for any of these but would love:
1. Matthew Rankine (Small forward with future midfield potential. Should have gone in the national draft. Very talented and exactly what we need)
2. Tom Gordon (KPP. But would look to play him primarily down back. Has talent and should have been taken in the national draft)
3. Ben Brown (not sure anyone will take him but I would under no circumstances overlook him because the talent is there and would be fantastic to have as a forward developing or as a potential L.Brown replacement)
4. Nathan Phillips (Had injuries during the year and doubt any other team will take him. Could play from season 1 if Macaffer or another forward gets injured. Very good in the midfield also)

Daniel Nicholson is another I have very highly on my list and if one of these is taken, I'd probably go Nicholson because like Phillips he could play sooner rather than later.

I say Gordon and Phillips are the Most Realistic out of those 4 Knight

Amongst those "unrealistic" I consider: Blayne Wilson, Myles Sewell, Ed Curnow, Michael Hibbard and those players who are expected to go in the PSD, ala Jack Anthony, Cam Bruce and co.

Outside of that you'll get surprises and players will drop who you didn't expect. It's the rookie draft. Don't discount anyone. Players will drop.

The rookie draft doesn't have the same feeling of a pre determined order in the way the national draft does simply because this is a time when clubs take a chance on players and pick players outside of those who will be in the draft list of other clubs.

Some players you can get a strong feel about where they could go, others less so, so you go on those hunches and take who you like where you think they will be available. Rankine and Gordon will likely if we want them have to be taken with one of our first two selections. Nicholson same.

Ben Brown for example is most likely available at our 1st selection, some have him going in the top 5 rookie selections, he certainly is this on quality for mine and personally rate him higher than Melbourne's 1st round selection, Lucas Cook. But the unfortunate reality is clubs just don't have seem the interest in him which is the unfortunate reality. Chances are we could take him with our final selection if we wanted to which is why I have him so far down my list of "where I would take him".

N.Phillips the same and along with Brown the feeling is they both will have to wait till next season to get a shot.

Brandyn Grenfell could very well do a Serhat Temel and be pretty still. Another talented kid who could be capable of playing a similar role to B.Brown, not as talented, but again another in that bracket who deserve a shot.

The other play who I like who I think will have a really good AFL career is Andrew Phillips, the Tasmanian ruckman. Raw as anything, but fantastic ruckman with great character who will make it because he wants it. Would be willing to take him early, but not sure we will because we appear very happy with Ceglar which is why I have not mentioned him regularly. But would happily take him with our 1st selection/ 2nd selection in the rookie draft.

My types:

Ruckman/Forward: e.g. Ben Brown/Josh Jenkins/Callum Sinclair - Someone who could provide a bit of size in the VFL and develop as a key forward or a ruckman, depending on what is needed.

Versatile KPP: e.g. Jack Frost/Darcy Barden/Jimmi Savage/Tyler Chalwell - Just a long-shot at a bit of size, as we're a little light on in that area.

Small forward: e.g. Tim Milera/Matthew Rankine/Rhys Cooyou/Isiah Stevens - We could still use a real livewire forward. Ugle seems likely to start in the role, but he's a natural winger/midfielder, so we could use a stay-at-home crumber.

Mature aged midfielder/flanker: e.g. Michael Hibberd/Dan Nicholson/Adam Cockie/ - I'd like to take a shot at a guy from a state league who's got a bit of a shot of having a career.

Of course, I'd be happy with anything that Hine does, because: IN HINE WE TRUST!

Very much in agreement with that summary VV. Both in terms of the type of player to target, and the names mentioned in each category.

Hi Guys,

I was looking at the 2010 Big Footy Official Phantom PSD & Rookie Draft where it was suggested that we are into Michael Still (a former essendon player who is yet to debut). Here's the quote below.

With that info on Still I would probably re-rookie Notte instead. He certainly has the talent, very sticky hands, but body not big enough. Suspect he'll end up at Collingwood though and have suspected that from about mid season.
What do you guys think of him? Do you think we'll pick him up?

Hey can anyone tell me what media coverage there will be of the Rookie draft, i.e will SEN be covering it and what time. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

?

I reckon that you've misread that quote. I think it is suggesting that we are into Notte.

If it is Notte he be well worth a Rookie Spot. He was a Top 20 Pick in the 2007 Draft. He is a Fantastic Mark and Great Kick but is still Skinny as hell and could his Body every be big enough to play AFL Footy.

Here are Some Video's of Notte:

Got this From Nicks:

A friend told me they saw Brad Fisher at the Westpac centre early last Saturday morning with Derek Hine. Anyone else heard this? Perhaps we're looking to pick him up in tomorrow's pre season draft? Or perhaps looking to rookie list him?

I wouldn't be totally against it if he can stay injury free.

Know nothing of the level of interest.

Type of player we need, but just a depth guy. We'll run into injury problems up forward. But I'd look to add a guy with the potential to make our best 22 at some stage.

In Fisher just don't see that. Cockie same. If we want mature bodies we can do better with some of the talent in the state leagues and the U18 talent isn't aweful this year either. We can do better.

Agree 100% Knight that I would not see Fisher in our Best 22 but Might be okay if we have a Few Big Injuries too some KPF Players.

Think Early we will go Young but with our Last Pick in the Rookie Draft Pick 73 we might go for a Mature Age Rookie for Back-Up Purposes

With the loss of Medhurst, Fraser and Anthony as forward options, I wouldn't be completely against us picking up Fisher, with our very last pick in the rookie draft.

It's one of the only areas I see us lacking depth in, medium-tall forwards, so a player like Fisher could at least increase our level of depth.

IMO he has about as much talent as Jack Anthony too, I've seen him tear senior games apart, let alone VFL games, he has just been way too inconsistent over his career.

He is only 26 at the moment too, so you could easily expect to get 2-3 good seasons out of him.

I'm not against it, if the options at the "bottom end" of the players pool isn't that strong.
