I disagree, he's not a natural small forward and misses too many goals he should kick. For mine he's either in the midfield or at Glenelg. Wright Callinan Jaensch Petrenko and even Stiffy are better options.

He said forward line, not forward pocket. HFF i think is one of his best positions.

For mine I would like to see Knights and Douglas swap roles.

From what your saying, I think Frost is our 1st preference (should be a good chance to get him with pick 5). Spur is our 2nd preference I think.

On Kerridge, what a confident young speaker he is. One of my favourite players already, and he hasn't kicked a ball for the AFC yet.

On Friday, Rendell dismissed suggestions the Club had targeted local players in reaction to the departures of homesick forward Jack Gunston, ruckman Ivan Maric and defender Tony Armstrong in trade week.

“It was no reaction [to those players] at all,” Rendell said.
“The reason was that 20 out of the first 26 picks were Victorians.
“We would’ve had some Victorians rated at the top [f our list], but in the second part of the draft after pick No.26 a lot of South Australian and West Australian players came into it.
“That was the reason we had so many South Australians on our list.
“It’s an added bonus and we think a good fit for us.”

Rendell revealed the Club had seriously considered taking another local, Norwood defender Alex Forster, with its first pick but opted to take the impressive Kerridge instead.

“Taking out the 15 players I would’ve had in front of Sam, who I knew weren’t getting through to No.27, Sam was our first choice,” he said.
“I had him just in front of Mitch Grigg, Alex Forster and Brad McKenzie and the like.”
Once tipped to be a mid-first round draft pick, Grigg slipped through to Adelaide’s second pick because of concerns over his pace.
Rendell said the long-kicking left-footer’s other attributes made up for his speed.
“I thought Mitch was the most standout player at the Under-18 Championships,” he said.
“People thought he was too slow, but I said to ‘Sando’ [coach Brenton Sanderson], ‘are you happy picking a slow, tough midfielder with an elite kick?’
“He said he was happy with it, so I said, ‘well I’m picking him if he’s there’”.

Looks like Sam Kerridge was ranked 16th on Rendall's list. I thought he had multiple lists for talls, smalls, etc.

Being a Mildura boy that rule may not have applied, he's as close to home as he's going to get, similar to Walker.

Looks like Sam Kerridge was ranked 16th on Rendall's list. I thought he had multiple lists for talls, smalls, etc.

I reckon if he wasnt injured for a large part of the season he would have had him top 10. 16 seems about right.

We need to get an attacking mindset in him and Douglas can kick some bloody brilliant goals from outside 50 when he is switched on. More accurate than Knights i would think

When he's on, Douglas is a bloody reasonable goal kicking mid/half forward, unfortunately the difference between his best and worst is too far. He was great in 2010, but went backwards again in 2011, if Sando can reverse this Douglas will be a rather handy player.

Spoke to someone in the know:
- Joyce was picked ahead of Murdoch because he is a tougher player and Sando wants tough players;
- Talia was rated quite low as his kicking is really bad;
- Neale was rated equall to E-Y.
- Forster was rated better than Grigg but Kerridge was far ahead of all including McKenzie
-We will target a KPP in rookie draft along with a mature player.​

Given we have eleventy-billion rookie spots to fill, I'd think we're targeting every bloody type of player available.

The rest of the smalls were already rotating through the bottom half like an Australian pace attack, due to form and injury.

Judging by round 22, on shape rather than the names present, there are 14+1 spots in the matchday 21+1 occupied by "smalls" (forward/midfield/defence)

There is the preseason draft before the rookie draft. Frost w ill be gone by the rookie draft you would think. Does anyone know how many picks there are in the preseason draft. Dont GWS have 5 alone.

GWS x6, Port and Fremantle are in the PSD, and nobody else yet. Clubs are still able to delist players, and there is a suggestion Richmond will cut someone loose for McCarthy.

Port and Fremantle clearly each have their eye on someone, Zac Dawson to Fremantle seems a given for reasons that defy description.

Does anyone believe this?

It could be just a coincidence that we took three South Aussies plus a guy from Mildura (which is the next best thing).

Or is it a reaction to losing a couple of players to the go-home factor?The two WA clubs have a much higher percentage of home grown products on their list than we do.

I believe Rendell, I doubt a couple of cases is enough to scare us off picking players from other states.

Maric shouldn't even be mentioned with the other two as his case is very different.
