jye bolton is just a victim of collingwoods ridiculous midfield, would make it onto lesser lists.
mitch farmer got cut by richmond, he shouldnt make it anywhere else...ever

I don't think Brisbane would taKe longer with 8 thus I reckon gws would nab him with 9 10 or 11 just my theory I have no inside knowledge regarding gws strategy. It is in essendon's best interest for gws to draft tall. More mids for us to choose from at 19 and possibly 31.

THey've got some pretty solid young talls already - Cameron will be a star, Hombsch apparently played well this year, and they're actually predtty happy with how Folau is tracking from what I hear. Patton is a given for them of course, but you have to wonder how many more talls they'll actually need.

Mind you, with Shiels, Bugg, Treloar, Hampton, Coniglio you could say the same about their smalls...

Brisbane would have to draft tall this year wouldn't they, whether ruck or kpp? Clark's gone, Brown's onto the vet lists this year and spends more time injured than playing, they delisted McCauley and Collier. Not sure how old Merrett and Patful are, but they're no spring chickens any more. And their young midfield group of Rich, Redden, Polec, Rockliff is looking pretty handy.

Cats have proven you dont need speed if the player is good enough... Toughness, foot skills and the will to suceed can overcome leg speed to a certain extent.

I like what I read about Seb Ross, he wants to improve and has a biggish body for a midfielder.

But you are right we need a midfielder, we need to be proactive and as good Ellis maybe (assuming he is a heath shaw protege) he would only strengthen our ability to counter-attack. I want to see us put pressure on other teams and be proactive rather then reactive.

On the other hand if Ellis could mature into a future midfielder I would definitely have a look at him for pick 19.

I am pretty confident they will take the best midfielders available with their first 2 picks.

Have it on very good authority that Dodoro made contact with Hayden Crozier and wants to see him 2-3 days before the draft.

Similar to what we did with Heppell last year

You mean where we went up the Murray? To see Atley? Then didn't pick him? And didn't make any song & dance about going to see Heppell?
Let's hope so.

Is this where we get Bruce Reid to send out a message about a bloke getting o.p and then letting him slide to us?

Lol

There's another before the draft then I think one between the draft and the PSD.
I'm fairly sure you can't delist blokes after the ND. They changed it recently as the AFL deemed it to be fairer for the player if all delistings were done pre ND, allowing them to nominate for the ND if they desired.

So last list lodgement is pre-ND... I think.

There is still another list lodgement on the the 16 (AFL draft is on the 24th), with all "Delisted primary list player draft nomination deadline. Non-retained rookie player draft nomination deadline. Gold Coast to nominate priority zone Queensland selections. GWS to nominate NSW/ACT zone and NT access players.", the 2011 AFL NAB Draft then occurs on the 24th November in Sydney with the third list lodgement to occur on the 30th of November, the PSD and rookie drafts then occur on the 13th December..

Key dates are actually here if you want to look at them yourself.

I hope your right, but history suggests otherwise. I definitely feel this year we just need a midfield only boost.

Rookies can be used on KPP/ruckman.

Who can tell me a bit about John McCarthy from the Pies. I know very little asides from that he was a fringe Collingwood mid over the past few years. What sort of mid is he and would he be worth a rookie pick?

just a quick question for those in the know would it be likely for us to pick up grigg or greene and if so who would we be more likely to take both look good but i think grigg has the better leg also how quick is greene ?

Would take Greene, a more well rounded midfield prospect IMO.

This rookie draft is going to be so important, with 6 new rookies (+ potentially Nick Ryan and Oliver Tweedale), if we can snare even two AFL standard players, that would be a huge plus..

Been looking at Kerridge more and more and he carries himself SOO well..

Sounds like a real leader of men and exactly the type of player we could use..

Has simply dominated games at VFL level and not looked out of place when given the chance at senior level.

Decent enough skills, could be more efficient by foot and finish off a bit more in front of goals.

Plays predominantly outside but can win his own ball when required.

Injury prone is the only thing that has seen this former second round draft pick struggle to lock himself into the strong Magpies midfield.

At 22, he could be a useful pick up, but seems very similar to Prismall.

We need to find a zippy forward. Lets hope we can get lucky in the rookie draft like Carlton did with Garlet.
Well, for starters we have to actually draft a couple of small forwards, this will increase our chances of getting lucky.

We have not drafted a small forward since Davey in 2006. The other guys like Jetta and Colyer were drafted as midfielders who could play a bit in the forward line. And this shows especially with Jetta and his want to always pass up the goal. Genuine small forwards will do anything for a goal.

Don't forget Farmer also was traded to Richmond by Port after struggling to get a game with Port.

Do not want.

Strangely enough with Jetta he was drafted as a small forward who would hopefully play in the midfield and as a junior he would never pass the ball near goals and played 90% as a forward.
Think he got the kicking yips a few seasons ago so he tends to pass the ball off a lot although he has started taking more shots recently.
