They've got a bunch of induction stuff IIRC before they train, and even then it's pretty light duties for a few weeks.

I don't wanna look like I'm making excuses or anything, but didn't Jay have stress fractures in his foot severely limiting his first 3-4 pre-seasons? I don't see what the big deal is about giving him a rookie spot if he proves himself. Unfit doesn't mean untalented.
Yup. Worth a rookie spot.

I agree i think Neagle is worth a last rookie spot if hes determined and hes going to prove that to us or not in the next month. But he will be alot better player than anything we could get with our last rookie pick.

Although im all for the idea of drafting late and rookieing 20-22 year olds and hope they peak at 25-26ish and we are starting to get in the window.

Neagle is this club's next 200 game full forward if he sorts out his a) attitude and b) fitness.

Big asks, I know, but I am on record (and I will stick by it) that if Neagle puts in a super preseason then he'll have a super 2011. He needs mental coaching as much as anything but I reckon Hird's taken a massive step by delisting him and giving him a second opportunity, the question is how Neagle responds and I eagerly would love tomorrow to be the 1st March just to see how far he's come over summer.

Just curiously- do we have a sports psychologist on staff? or at least on call?

And if not- why the hell not! :D

HUGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEE CALL

If i can work out the dates properly hes turning 23 early next year when the best position he could be in is a 27 game rookie listed player. So effectivily being a rookie he could not play a game at all next year, many rookies dont. Although its likely he would play a few considering hes more mature. However if i understand the rookie rule you cant bring in a rookie unless someone has an LTI injury before round 11.

So if there is NO LTI, than the absolute best he could be for 2012 would be - 38 game, 24 year old player.

If he manages to get to 30 and play every game from than on 7x22=154 + 38 = 192 games at 31 heading into the next season to play 8 games. Thats all with the thought that he plays 165 consecutive games, 11 in the second half of next year.

You might want to reconsider that thought.:thumbsu:

 ok, maths wizard, 150 games. It was more a statement of how much he will give to the club when he's sorted out not exactly how many games he will play.

I don't think anyone at the club has claimed that Neagle can show commitment in the space of a month - commitment is a long-term thing; years, not weeks.

All the club has said is, we're rookieing you - but only if you do x, y and z. Training hard for four weeks is not commitment.

The test of his commitment and character will come from how he strives to drag himself back up to the senior list.

Where are the boys training on next Monday?
Is it at Windy Hill or still at Keilor Park or wherever they were training?

Wanna hit it up and see how they going, specially Neagle.

More to the point, where can one find this information? Or not available to outsiders?
