Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I think I will make the rookie-corrections this week:

Bewick and Atley for Curnow and Liberatore

That will pretty much complete the set of performing rookies in my squad.

I'll figure out later how I correct the f*&k up of not having Swan.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

i need help..TEARING MY HAIR OUT!

Can a more competent player than I please explain why trading Selwood out for Pendlebury then bring Selwood back later is not a good move.

Isn't that a 150,000 to 200,000 gain?

OR should I go JP Kennedy to Curnow/Libba?

current mids
SWAN JUDD SELWOOD KENNEDY FOLEY FYFE SWALLOW HARRIS HEPPELL(MPP)

Simply... because you are wasting two trades for very little gain.

Because you have to use two trades and he has a bye during the finals which could be another trade. In addition to this you already have Swan in your midfield. Trading down Kennedy/foley to Libba/Curnow would be a much better way to make cash

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Whats peoples thoughts on Joel Selwood..?

According to Tooserious's salary prediction, if he scores his average from last season over the next few rounds which is 118, he will bottom out around $350K

So, do you keep him as he was a keeper to begin with..

Worth the risk..?

I really don't understand why anyone is thinking about trading this guy. For starters he's a outright gun/keeper who had a knock to the head, it's not a dodgy knee or hammy, its something he should bounce back from fairly quickly. Even if his value goes down, who cares? Like I said he's a keeper and no way should you be trading him.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

thanks for the quick responses....guess i'll keep Selwood lol

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Writing this out helps me to think about this, if any of you guys think i am a complete idiot please say so.

Lewis Jetta to Curnow and Foley to Pendlebury

Why - Curnow going up in value, on field option
- jetta going nowhere atm and looking at 2010 he
has never topped 78 sc points, may be poor
original choice
- Foley is about to drop in value and form has been
patchy, was subbed off in first game though was
crook.
- Pendlebury is likely to keep scoring 120 plus and
his value keeps rising
* - I have an imbalance in my midfield, the guys i got
like Jetta to play i need to keep on the bench
because of form. the other bench players are as
good as the ones i have on the field, no obvious
reserve players.

Just doing the Curnow trade will still leave a midfield imbalance, Foley is the sacrificial lamb, not necessarily justified in dropping him but will strengthen and balance the team if i do.

Thoughts?

(Gibbs, Enright, Delideo, Goddard, Grimes, Duigan, Otten, Lower, McKernan, Stanley

Swan, Goodes,
Foley, Heppell, Harris, Libba, Jetta, Atley, Swallow GC

Cox, Sandilands, Z Smith, Fraser

Pavlich, N Riewoldt, Franklin, J Roughhead, Didak, Darling, Krakouer, Tapscott, Matera, Prestia)

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

possible moves this week is:

atley to curnow - 80% sure
and
richardson to tapscott - 40% sure

what do you guys think?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

That be me. Got a bit lucky tbh, but pretty happy with how it panned out.

I got lucky to have two of them. Had Hibberd in the mids and changed it to Libba after the teams came out, and was going to do the J.Tippett/Petrie thing because I thought I had all the worthwhile rookie forwards but then decided to just put Petrie as a ruck and pick Tapscott up as a rookie forward after Bailey talked him up in the paper the day before lockout.

Still pondering whether or not it's worth going Bewick to Curnow, given I have Harris/Swallow/Libba/Prestia(MPP - Goodes, Pav, Krak) for two spots on the field so don't need to start Curnow.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

If you are going for league win, no use trading in Libba, Curnow or Tapscott is there? It will just take longer for your cash cows to mature. And this year, you have more players making money so panic sideways trades for young rooks are probably unneeded. Ranked 808 overall but over $3k on offer in cash league. What are peoples thoughts?

Yeah it's a tough one. On one hand, conserving trades is always a good ploy, however, having the right cows allows you to upgrade your players faster and it appears that the faster you upgrade your team, the better. It is a bit of a balancing act though.

And if you're going for league ahead of overall, then yes I agree that it is definitely a wasted trade. The only way I'd consider it would be if I had a player not playing at all (a la Hibberd, Iles etc). But even then, both should get games soon, so it really would be just chasing cash. Whilst we have extra trades, I still think it's important to conserve to a degree.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Hey guys, would really appreciate someones opinion, these are my options (haven't made any trades yet):

1. Out: Everitt, Irons
In: Heppell, Curnow/Libba

2. Out: Irons, Richardson
In: Curnow/Libba, Tapscott

3. Out: Everitt, Richardson
In: Heppell, Tapscott

4. Out: Everitt, Foley
In: Heppell, Swan

5. No change

I'm stuck, any help would be great.
cheers

BTW nice team, just had a look, we share 25 players :p

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Looks like just Foley to Libba for me for cash injection to turn Yarran into ROK/Didak in the coming weeks (after byes)

Will miss Tapscott and Curnow unfortunately.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Im thinking Conca or Bewick > Libba. Also pondering trading D.Swallow for Shuey. Not fully convinced with Shuey but he looked awesome on the weekend.

What should I do with $500,000

How much money is it ideal to have in the bank, how long should i hang onto it for?

I have 536,000 in the bank.

Is upgrading a mid priced forward an option now? eg. Richardson for Goodes/Pavlich. Or should I wait?

I am just outside the top 1000 and interested in trying to finish as high as possible.

I have used two trades to bring in Curnow and Tapscot.

Gibbs Deledio Goddard Grimes Shaw Grundy Otten (Lower Duigan Coad)

Swan Pendlebury Murphy Curnow Libba Harris (Buckely Hibberd Mzungu)

Cox Warnock J Tippett Bailley

Rioli Franklin Higgins Walker Krakour Knights Tapscott (Hale Richardson McKernan)

Thank you for any advice/ideas.

Libber or Curnow?l

If you have to trade in only one who would you choose? job security could be an issue for both if they taper off a bit.
