Re: Round 2 trades

I don't know anything about Supercoach. I scored 2229, without having even heard of some of the players I picked.

This is the problem with Supercoach. Bring back 4 years ago.

BTW I urge everyone to make 2 trades this week, especially if you have Selwood trade him now!

Unless injured I urge everyone to hold onto your trades, they will become valuable to you in the tail end of the season! trust me

Re: Round 2 trades

ROFL at people considering trading out keepers after 1 round.

I think I will trade out Selwood, Deledio, Grimes and Goodes.

In fairness he must of made a mistake to pick Gia, in the same circumstance I would rectify that mistake as early as possible.

Re: Round 2 trades

Goodes > ROK. Do this if Goodes spuds it up again and ROK kills it again. I will be. :D:thumbsu:

I am also thinking about Selwood > Bartel but probably wont.

My team is not too bad, just a bit unlucky last week. Have to keep the faith. :thumbsu:

Love it when people make sideways trades like this then the traded premium (cause they are premium players) scores 140. You just laugh.

Re: Round 2 trades

Judd_Magic's built a bit of a reputation here as having an itchy trigger finger when it comes to trades. Had used all his trades up by about round 14 last year, IIRC.

Re: Round 2 trades

Yarran will come good, it's not like he's never been manned up on before.

I'm giving Rhys Shaw one more week, if we's still playing a stopping role I might turn him into Toy. Shaw won't score enough as a stopper.

Re: Round 2 trades

Trades are a tough call, especially early in on the piece.

IMO I wouldnt be trading after round#1 unless you have suffered a LTI, I mean really what is teh point?

We won't see any price variation untill at least rnd#3 and some teams later so you're not going to lose anything in the next 2 weeks.

If you have faith in guys and you picked them in yr initial squad then give them a go, especially if you picked the as a premium/keeper.

From rnd#3 it's time to have a look at who you've missed in rookies or which mid players are looking at gunning it. But in relation to mids gunning it, i would still be hestitant to trade a guy in unless your sure he can become a keeper. Last year this was me who missed the initial Malsexi train, but his numbers were good early and there was every indication he was going to be a keeper at bargain price. We are all going to miss out on 1 player or another throughout the year. you need to only ensure that players traded in are going to benefit the team over the course of the year in either making money, becoming keeper/premium for the rest of teh year, providing MPP coverage or bench coverage.

My idea on trading is to highlight players i want in my squad come round 22 and then target them individually as their price drops to coincide with a rookie rise or monies in the kitty.

The worst mistake IMO is to cash up and take the best available on the day, because the best available on that day won't be the best available come round 22.

This years great in that we have all these extra trades to burn, but come round 18 and the good supercoach coaches have trades to burn you'll see the front runners put some distance between others as they can afford to trade out some guys late in the year with byes rather then benching them.

Like people have said, it's a long season, have a plan in place and highlight the players to target throughout the year.

Having said that. Be careful not to get caught with a Kurt Tippet of 2010.

Re: Round 2 trades

Since no one has discussed this yet,

JONATHAN BROWN

surely some people having him in their side, must be looking to trade.

possible trades?
my expensive forwards are already goodes, n. riewoldt & franklin.
so my options are:
pavlich
sylvia
glibert
or to hold on to him and wait one more week.

thoughts?

Re: Round 2 trades

I've got him too, but my options are more restricted because of bye issues. I'd add ROK and J. Riewoldt to your list of potentials... but personally if I had that list I'd bring in Pavlich straight away.

I'm probably going to hold on to him for another week and see if Chapman comes back and scores well or how Didak goes. My other option is to bite the bullet and go to J. Riewoldt this week.

Re: Round 2 trades

Am I the only one who remembered Ryan Gamble as a talented player with great hands who looked the goods at the Cats but just had a few injuries at the wrong time. Well I was astounded that his twin brother who cannot play at all turned out for the Saints on Friday night. He was incredible slow of foot and of reaction time and he would make one half effort and literally stop and just watch. I would be amazed if he is not dropped on that effort. My worst pick for a number of years he is gone after this next round for a rookie.

Pavlich, no question for mine...

Re: Round 2 trades

Yeah that's the thing, he kicked 4 goals (a good day for him) and he only scored 66. He doesn't get many possessions as a key forward so I don't think he will be scoring very high... Imagine a bad day for him. Whereas Dangerfield also plays midfield and racks up some disposals.

Taylor Walker should get more possessions up the ground when Kurt Tippett comes back into the side

Re: Round 2 trades

Yarran will come good, it's not like he's never been manned up on before.

Acutally his preseason scores (why everyone jumped on him, thankfully not me) were in games with most likely little to no effort put into the opposition ie tags, etc. Now he's been exposed as being able to but shut of a game completely off a HB flank teams if they're smart will continue to do it.

Nobody gets tagged in the preaseason and yes I got sucked in to Yarran only because his bye was after Mitch Duncan (geelong).

Round 1 score 2375 with the following hurting:

* Last minute swap from Rioli to Goodes
* Duigan on the ground and Heppell on the bench.
* Richardson on the ground and Tapscott on the bench.

* Forwards killing me - Riewoldt, Buddy, Goodes, Yarran, Knights (ok), Krakouer (good), Richardson

Do you think if he continues to get tagged off a back flank and produce those scores they will have to re-think his new role? I have not got him in my team but I just think that if he is so easily tagged out of the game its no use to keep him there, unlike a Heath Shaw or Gibbs who can play off the back flank with a tag and still have a reasonable contribution.

Re: Round 2 trades

I wouldn't be too worried about Goodes over Rioli just yet, I was in the same predicament with those 2, but I'm still happy with Goodes as my pick. Maybe come see me in a few weeks though and my tune might change...

I was very surprised they didn't throw him in the middle just to shake the tag for a while and get him into the game a bit. I saw all 100 minutes of that game and I reckon Chris Yarran was on my screen no more than 6 times...and that includes widescreen lol

Re: Round 2 trades

Yea I guess throwing him in the midfield would help with the tag. If he was only on the screen 6 times, maybe he had one of those games where you just cant get near it no matter what you do.

I am very hesitant to do so. I'll weigh up my options after round 2 or 3.
I had Riewoldt in my initial team but changed to Gia as I already had 2 other Tigers players on my team.

Re: Round 2 trades

As everyone is saying, probably shouldn't be losing faith in yarran just yet. how teams deal with him -i.e.if he always gets a tag- is an unknown. give it another week, especially given its against a bunch of kids at the gold coast.

if he fails again i'll either go to tapscott or dangerfield, although probably tapscott as i think that cash is more valuable than having to trade dangerfield again if he doesn't turn into a premium, and tapscott looks as if he might be able to hold his place for a while at melbourne, although unlikely to average 85+ so may require another trade later on anyway. does anyone think the eventual return of frawley will have any impact on his spot?

Only willing to make one trade in the first 5-6 weeks, before byes and maturing cash-cows start to really come into play (and hopefully selwood bottoms out after rd 5). Missed curnow but not sold that he is going to be any better than other rookies such as libba, harris (price-wise), swallow, heppell etc.

problem with pavlich is that he has a bye with franklin, so if your going for a high ranking that's a lot of talent to have on the bench.

sylvia likewise has a bye on the same week as goodes.

Re: Round 2 trades

Traded Mitch Clark for David Hille after getting 2171.I think a lot of my players can get a lot more.

Trading on a Tuesday.... After round 1. Why would you do that to yourself?!
