Well, if you don't rate any of the ones left...
When Adam Pattison gets back on a list, you know it is a poor year for rucks.

Can't help but be nervous though when 2/3rds of our ruck stocks is comprised of pensioners/schoolies.

So Waylen Manson, Julian Doobsz, Myles Bolger, Shane Nelson, Brodie Mihocek and Josh Waldhunter are all over looked. It just goes to show how little the bigfooty community know:p Many posters on this forum had these guys in the top 40 in the Nation Draft :D

Once we trade for Tippett next year, our ruck stocks will be fine :p

On a rather odd note, though, I believe I spotted Retzlaff doing some ruck work at training yesterday morning. I may well be wrong, but he didn't look half bad at it at times.

Yeah. Just wondering how the reserves are going to function next year, especially if we get an injury or two :P

Hope the Western Maggies have some young ruck prospects for us to borrow.

So happy with our rookie draft mostly because we didn't pass after our second pick. Can anyone tell me a bit of Stephen Wrigley? and did we pick up any QLD boys that i've missed?

We have also picked up Sam Michael as a zone selection

Where'd you find that tidbit?

Edit: Never mind, Jorgo has it covered though I'll have to take his word for it as work has blocked Twitter.

The club has put a brief rundown on each player on Facebook, including Sam Michael

They block twitter but not facebook?

I suggested earlier this year that Retzlaff could secure his career by developing his rucking. I can't see why he couldn't do it, once he bulks up a little more.

It could definitely help his chances. It'd help our ruck depth too, most importantly.

Clarke - raw KPD who has come from the clouds to get picked. Nice height. The only KP picked by us this year which I find very odd. Just leaves us really short again. I like the Clarke pick though. Gives us a development prospect with a high ceiling in a position of definate need.

Wrigley - odd where he was taken but he should be a good running defender for the reserves able to take smalls or talls if needed. He is a mature player who can organise the defense in the ressies and should be able to step up reasonably well if needed for the firsts.

Crisp - I think this might have been an unplanned pick. The sort of guy who we thought would be well gone and couldn't pass up. He is a tallish, wing / flanker who tackles very well. Solid but not great skills. We have quite a few of his type on our list already but he was worth picking him up where we got him.

Newell - inside mid / tagger was always going to be taken as our NSW scholarship player.

Michael - I am very glad of this late addition to the picks today. Hard working ruck / KP prospect who could develop into a nice ruck option. Already shown he can ruck well at NEAFL level and should be a possession ruck around the ground. Nice mark up forward but not a real big goal scoring threat. Helps the ressies team balance a lot and he could well develop into a good AFL player.

I have been a long time advocate here that the club should be getting more out of the Rookie Draft...loving the increased drafting from interstate in it...right now I am very pleased with today's effort and hopeful that I will stay that way.

That is not to say that we have not had some good Rookie elevations in the past few years in particular.

Happy with those picks, but gotta admit I'm very surprised a lot of blokes didn't get picked up. Will be keeping a keen eye on the ressies next year!

Good on you Richie Newell

Odd that we did not pick Wrigley as a QLD zone selection thus giving us more options with this pick.

Crisp, I agree it has the feel of an unplanned draft selection. He was too good to pass, thus one of the QLD kids training with us may have missed out as a consequence.

Also it now appears that the KP forward that was in consideration for the Docherty pick was indeed Jay Leever.
