New drinking game - have a beer or whatever grog tickles your fancy everytime Glenn McGrath say "We" when refering to the Aussie team.

I'm drunker than a bloody skunk.

LOL calling new technology new toys

Refering to the desk ?
What a load of crap that is

The AFL & Rugby [Union & NRL] shows on Foxtel have desks that do that do more fandangly stuff and they've been using them for more than 12 months.

Everyone here has commentated on how annoying they are but no one has touched on their complete lack of knowledge of the sport

The amount of times you here these in one day is sickening:
- Starc not in the side is the reason SA made 450
- Steve Smith should be in the side to lift team moral
- Brad Haddin was unlucky to be dropped
- Teams need more t20 to improve their test strike rates
- Warners aggression is what makes him a good test batsmen

Theyre under the impression that if you dont bat at 4.5 an over in a test, youve failed. They would rather a team be 8/350 than 2/300 , praising players like Haddin to go after wide deliveries at a score of 6/150. Day 1 of Aus vs India last year they were having a go at Cowan for batting too slow on day 1 when Warner Watson Clarke and Ponting had fallen around him, despite top scoring for the innings. They just have no idea, and this is complaining before even speaking about how annoying they are

I haven't heard them say any of these.

The bit with the tablet today was just TV at it's best.

Taylor realy bumbled his way through that, if your going to use "new technology" then use it properly and don't stuff it up. Taylor couldn't even show us what he wanted to before they had to cut away to the live action.

And the segment were they show highlights and stats of individual players and squeezing in highlights pasuing them halfway through to go back to the live action and then back again, its rushed awkward and completely useless.

PS Slats is the biggest flog going around!

I dont understand the 'desk' to show us some technique stuff. They already do it in the commentary box, no need to do it from the desk. And the unprofessionalism of the commentators means the mumble and bumble their way through their explanation and then the awkward bit when they have to wait for the live action. Just cringe-worthy.

Then they brag about the ipad and it can be done from anywhere. Again, who gives a rats where they do it from. It doenst make it any more impressive, just more embarrassing how they go on about it.

I actually think most of the 'technology advances' are just useless crap and annoying. Foxtel ODD and big bash coverage so much better.

Their best 'innovation' is interviews with players during the game with sarah jones. Simple and effective and gives us an insight into the players thoughts on the game.

I was disappointed by their insistence that Quiney's dismissal was unlucky. Geez, he hit the ball in the air, straight at a fielder, how can that EVER be regarded as unlucky? It was a crap shot and deserved condemnation, not sympathy.
i noticed they did the same thing with Kawaja's first inning, going on how it was the best 30 they had ever seen and how good he looked. I think they are told to talk up and new aussie player. Chappelli was even going on how quiney is picked because he is such a great fielder and can bowl abit, think that was a bit of a stretch.

It used to be good.

I would like more international commentators such as Llyod, Holding, Gower etc

The Desk offers nothing innovative. They try and hype it up as being cutting-edge technology but all they've done is replace "old" technology with a tablet. They don't do anything fancy with it, all that happens is the producers get the commentator to provide an introduction and then they clumsily hit the tablet with their finger and the highlights roll. The commentator doesn't even use the tablet to pause, change camera angle, draw lines, or offer anything. They just talk as quickly as possible to try and keep up with the rolling highlights.

Wow! I've never seen someone cut to highlights before.

If they were serious about being innovative and not just following along in the greed pack with Seven and Ten, they'd bugger off the $20 in ad revenue they would get from running old westerns on Gem and simulcast the cricket in HD.
