Id be over the moon if we got Menzel. Is definately top 3 on talent in this draft (just watch his 15 goals in 2 games for SA in the U18) and could be the biggest steal since Joel Selwood!

Alternatively id be happier if we did get Wines and he fills a need more and is just a player everyone wants at their club with his professionalism and attitude. would be a fan favourite.

McRae if he slides would also make my day.. he is the next pendlebury and would be a steal here!

Stringer im happy with although some say he would be to much of a risk, but an inside mid who can also play KPF and kick goals who was rated top 5 before his injury may be to good to pass up.

However im not rly keen on Mayes. Just dont rate him as highly as others

If our recruiters believe Menzel to be the best talent available at pick 11, then I'd be more than happy for the club to select him.

Of course you have to be wary of his knees, but I trust that should our recruiters call his name out, they have done their due dilligence and are confident his issues won't prevent him from having a long and successful career at AFL level.

If we are to select him tonight, I'd have absolutely no issues with sending him straight in to surgery for a traditional knee reconstruction, should we deem it an appropriate action to take. I know many will be up in arms when he hasn't played a game in year one and numerous other players that were selected after him have, but we aren't recruiting these kids for their contributions in their first season - it's about what they can produce for their clubs by the time they call curtains on their career. More than happy to forego any contribution from Menzel in year 1, if it means we put him in a position to contribute well for 10+ years after that.

I've got to the point that the only thing I'm concerned about is if we somehow didn't pick him.

I think the inferences here have been that we would send him straight for surgery, allowing him to possibly play a few games at the end of next year and a clear run into the pre-season.

Perfect.

For me, it's a win-win scenario. Pick him, great - we obviously are not concerned about the long term status of his knees, and we believe him to be best available at our selection. If we don't pick him, we clearly believe there is better talent available for us to choose from, or we're not convinced that his knees will hold up. No real concerns for me either way and I trust our recruiters to do what they believe to be right, having investigated the issue in some depth.

With Menzel, I'm patient enough to wait until 2014 for him to play. To be honest you have to look at the big picture. My concern however is that he might have long term issues with his knee or knees. His brother has only been in the system for a few years and has had two knee reco's already.

Seems a fairly firm word on Menzel, but aren't we renowned for keeping things on the down low around draft time. Who knew we were in to Boots last year?

Menzel would certainly add something to out mix, and potentially free up a quality mid in Walker.

Any keen draft watchers care to comment on where Grundy would rate compared to a young Kreuzer?

Kreuze dominated entire ames as a Juniour, played like a midfielder and contributed
Grundy dominated the ruck as a Juniour, doesnt have the same midfielder type skills

Would love to see a huge shock in the Blues picking a massive bolter in Lonergan or Kennedy; or someone noone expects like Grundy just to see how many ppl lose their minds.

Would be happy with either Wines, Macrae, Vlastuin, Mayes or Menzel/Stringer though.

Surely if Garlett is avalaible at our second pick we'll take him

He is TOOOOO talented nto to take regardless off anything else.

Not true - these days, off field conduct is held in just as high regard as what the individual can produce on the field, if not higher than it. That's one of the reasons why players bolt up the order on the back of a good interview, and conversely why others may slide due to a poor interview.

Clubs seem to be becoming more reluctant to taking on a player perceived to be an unsavoury character.

Talent isn't the be all and end all. Of course it's a consideration but temprament counts for a whole lot more than you seem to be suggesting. How often do we see a ridiculously talented footballer not quite reach the heights expected of him, because he's been found wanting between the ears?

I don't know what Garlett has done and I'm not going to speculate on it. But from all reports it's been serious enough to turn most clubs off him so quite clearly it's not something that can simply be brushed under the carpet and ignored.

I don't get this either, but it seems that absolutely nobody has considered Grundy to Dogs, so it would be a surprise if it happens tonight.
Well as I posted about 40 pages back, Grundy does look like the solid unit at full forward the Bulldogs need, given Grant is more a Brad-Fisher 3rd tall.

Their ruck stocks are okay but Ayce is yet to dominate a game and Roughead spent the end of the year in defense. Minson won't last forever, so that leaves Campbell, a 7 gamer.

Reports on the Richmond board state that Lonergan is on a plane to the Gold Coast.

I'm not sure how many draftees actually get invited? so perhaps he is going early.

I'm wary of a "Jack Darling" shell game with Garlett. Is it just a smokescreen to ensure he stays in Perth, or is he the new Lovett?

Would not be completely against recruiting Grundy.

He could potentially be the next Kurt Tippet. Able to ruck but could also transform into a power forward.

It would mean that Warnock and possibly Hampson would be traded next year. So in effect we would give up pick 11 to get Grundy and say a couple of 2nd/ 3rd round picks next year for trading Warnock and possibly Hampson. Casboult could become the 3rd/ Ruck and/ or key forward option.

If we had Kruezer, Grundy and Casboult as our ruck/ forward options we could be set for the next 10 years.

Might as well chuck this here if anyone feels like reading up on some of the guys from picks 30+. Order is obviously not going to be the same as in this, likely not even similar, but there is a general lack of detail on the guys that will most likely be selected after the first two-odd rounds so this sort of thing is handy.

I'm not totally against Grundy tbh. If we're going best available and Menzel and Grundy are still there - I wouldn't be disappointed either way. But agreed - that would be the nail in the coffin for either Knockers or Hammer. If we could get a late first/early second rounder for either in the 2013 draft I'd be happy.
