Exactly. They can't take players away from Melbourne after they've already signed on. The AFL had to approve the mini-draft trade and the F/S son pick, so it's hard to see them backtracking on their decisions. They would look like fools.

Carlton kept French after the trade went through before we lost draft picks in 2002.

Wasn't that part of the penalty? The first of a three part handicap: McLaren and Akland to follow.

All grown up

All grown up

The first picture is just asking for trouble and the Oh hai! caption.

"Pose with the footy so we don't confuse you for someone else"

Jaksch's hands and wingspan look massive.

You know what that means.

Kid will be a gun. Would be happy to take him with 11 if all of the others we feel suit are gone by our pick. But it now looks like Tippett will be at GWS in 2013. When would they take him? Pick 3, before Brisbane get the chance at pick 8 or maybe we swoop at pick 11, or pick would they try their luck and wait til pick 12?

Very unfair on Barney - He had a crack and that is all you can ask for. cain Ackland on the other hand - the less said the better.

Yes he did and yes it was. And I wouldn't say it to his face, if I could look up that far.

Even so, given that we went after Trent Knoble too, was not an era of gun ruckmen or sound judgement was it?

Unfortunately it was an era where it was hard to find any examples of sound judgement. I will remain grateful to Pratt for restoring some semblance of competence to the club.

PS Don't forget Chris Bryan and Adrian Deluca when recalling our bigman woes of the mid 2000s.

I had forgotten and now you have reminded me, you cruel bugger.

How can you set out to get a hack like Knobel and come home with a gun like Eddie? Carlton's shopping lists should be in a museum somewhere.

Did Mick have any favourites among the spuds Collingwood just delisted? One such list-clogger he might consider rookieing after drafting him in 2010: Kirk Ugle. 20yo small forward. Bogan tattoo. :( Swan Districts connection for Armfield, Yarran, Ellard, Garlett.

Rationale: we just scrapped Kerr and Collins, so have a vacancy on the HFF, particularly if Jeff has a big Arizona trip and steps up into the midfield.

(No idea if 'Ugly' can play, of course. ;))

Pick Me: Nick Vlastuin at home in the trenches

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/mor...-in-the-trenches/story-e6frf9jf-1226508604446

Vlastuin said he wanted to develop into the same mould of player as St Kilda midfielder Lenny Hayes and Collingwood's Luke Ball.

"All the recruiters are saying if you can't win a one-on-one (contest), you can't play AFL; that's pretty exciting for me," he said.

"I prefer the way the game is moving to more contested footy, stoppages, body-on-body stuff, because they are my strengths. Hopefully, I get that opportunity."

Really warming to this guy. Tough mid that would complement Juddy, Murph, Bell, McLean, Robinson and Curnow :thumbsu:

If Tippett goes in the draft then GWS would have to take him at 3. Brisbane will definitely take him at their first pick.

That takes a pick out and drops us to 10. Daniher makes us 9. And withe 4 pick being stripped from the Dees we are at 8.

So hypothetically, Whitfield at 1 and Grundy at 2 are the only sure things. Tippett goes 3. No pick at 4. Bulldogs now have Toumpas and Wines at their mercy. Brisbane have plenty of bigs available but Plowman would be too much to pass up. Port should take a SA at 8 in Mayes or plenty of other mids available. RICH have stocked up on bigs and should also take a mid at 9, probably O'Rourke. ESS take Daniher at 10. At 11, that leaves IMO any of Stringer, Vlastuin, Clurey, Jaksch, Shaw or Kennedy. HAPPY DAYS.

I wouldn't mind if either Brisbane or the GWS take him, the end result would be we move up a place ;)

That said, I think the GWS would be crazy to take him at #3, and should try and get him with #12 if they think the GCS might have a sniff, otherwise #14.

Don't forget Mccrae :thumbsu:

Not sure if he has been mentioned earlier but listening to the Draft guy on SEN last night, Liam McBean sounded a likely type.

203cm but good below his knees and can play back and forward !!

Can someone please explain to me why we would delist and then redraft Collins? We already had the necessary 3 live picks.

So why would we "hope to get him in the PSD" when we delisted him like that?

Apologies if this has already been covered and I missed it.

I do not understand it either? I think maybe its he's delisted, however if we do not see anyone who we rate in the draft available at our last pick we will pick him up again? or mayb just so we can rookie him
