Saw a similar thread on the Hawks board, so thought I'd post our potential milestones for the upcoming season

250 games

Joel Corey (needs 16 more games)

200 games

David Wojcinski (needs 1 more game)
James Kelly (needs 6 more games)

100 games

Harry Taylor (needs 10 more games)
Tom Hawkins (needs 21 more games)

50 games

James Podsiadly (needs 8 more games)
Mitch Duncan (needs 21 more games)

Dang these guys have been at the club longer than I thought.

Wonder if anyone will make it to the 300 in coming years.

Someone is going to get to 50 games :):):thumbsu:

Re the other milestones I hope Corey's knee can stay good and he can get there as we don't know whether this could be his last year or not.

Glad to see Wojo bring up the 200, he's one of my favourites, and hopefully it's the first of many milestones for Harry and Hawk.

I think with how physically demanding the game is now it is likely clubs will continue to look to rotate a larger squad where injuries permit, so I think we'll see less and less players get to 250 and 300 as a result unless they have extraordinary longevity.

Still think that should trigger father/son status for a mature age recruit of his years.
I can't see him reaching 100 with out becoming a list clogger,so that won't happen.
Something I'd like to see the AFL address.

Wonder if anyone will make it to the 300 in coming years.

Milburn and Riccardi are the only two in my lifetime who have threatened the mark; both could have got there, if they'd had close to full seasons in what turned out to be their final years. With Riccardi, it ended up being a somewhat unfortunate end for him; if he had been able to hang on to his senior spot in 2007 (he retired at the end of 2006), imagine how differently he would be perceived around the club, as the only 300 game premiership player. Ultimately, he became neither.

It makes you realise just how amazing it has been to watch players like Goodes and Pavlich power towards 300, particularly Pavlich, when you consider no Docker or Eagle has come close to the mark. Remarkable effort.

From the current crop, I'd nominate the following:

Jimmy Bartel: Turned 28 in December. 205 games (so, needs roughly five more years, without any major injuries). So, he should be right around the 250 mark, by the time he hits 30, as long as he can stay healthy. If he loses a step and is no longer effective in the midfield, I think he would be able to shift to a back flank or the forward line permanently, without too many problems.

Matthew Scarlett: Turns 33 in June. 268 games (needs two more seasons). I'm disregarding the comments Scarlett has made about his future and just looking at this objectively. There's nothing forseeable form-wise which would stop him reaching 300; it's totally up to him.

Joel Corey: Turns 30 in February. 234 games (needs three more seasons and a fair bit of luck with injuries, considering his recent history). I wouldn't have given him a chance this time last year and, while he had a fantastic season in 2011, he only played 21 games (of a possible 25). I averaging 22 games over the next three seasons (especially as we drop back to the pack) may be beyond him.

Paul Chapman: Turned 30 in November. 222 games (needs four more seasons). Pretty simple equation to me; I don't think Chappy has four more years in him. Hope he can get to 250.

Corey Enright: Turns 31 in September. 222 games (needs four more seasons). A couple of months older than Chappy and the same number of games, however I'd be backing Boris to get to 300. Scarlett is expected to leave at the end of 2012 and Hunt and Wojcinski may not be too far behind. I can quite easily picture Enright becoming the Milburn-esque elder statesman of the team, retiring around his 34th birthday, after just breaking the 300 game barrier.

James Kelly: Turned 28 in December. 194 games (needs at least five more seasons, possibly six). Kelly is around the same age as Bartel and, while he's half a season behind Jimmy in the games played tallies, he's still a good chance, provided he can stay injury free. Has shown he can play in the backline and be effective (see 2009) and he's never been playing better than he is right now. The end isn't on the horizon just yet.

I'm not going to bother with any of the other chances (Selwood, Varcoe etc), because if they do get to 300, it's not going to happen until the 2020s, which makes it pretty difficult to predict.

unfortunately , I think the guy who departed for GC could have done it , not convinced anyone else on our list will get to 300. The last 50 games seem to be a big wall to climb.

I agree
Selwood has plenty of games up early, but can the body play 300 games the way he plays it probable not.:(

Agree, towards the end you need very good luck with injuries and to be able to keep your form up, and if the coach wants to look at some younger players, you are likely to be 'rested' at times, all of which makes getting to 300 pretty hard in the modern era.

Agree, I reckon if you come in after 27 they should halve the qualification, realistically if you come in that late in your 20s, to play 50 games, particularly in a good side, is a very good achievement. Don't think the AFL will though.
