We will have an official thread for predictions and bracket tipping won't we?

Yeah, the tennis tipping comp will contiune and there will also be a bracket challenge but the draw doesn't come out till Friday.

Nice to see a few of these aussies take advantage of their good draws in the qualies. Barton through now as well. Kyrigos looks like he's about to be knocked out though. there is live streaming on the australian open website for qualifying

Sally Peers, after beating a well ranked Kleybanova a couple of years ago, demolishing a decent opponent in the 1R of US and following up by doing ok against Clijsters just got double bagelled in the first round of quallies. Honestly what on earth happened to her?? How did she even get a WC anyway when I'm pretty sure she doesn't even do shit at the Aussie tournaments now??

Any Queenslanders on here that can tell me whether the Oz Open is televised FTA all day like it is down here in Melbourne? I'll be holidaying up there the first week and want to know if it will be on TV so I can watch during my relaxing times or when I'm not at the theme parks :)
starts at 9:30 and ends at 6 and then go to 7two and back to 7 at 7

Hewitt playing Janko Tipsarovic first up. If he beats him then it looks like his draw opens right up. Would potentially meet Almagro in the 4th round and Ferrer in the quarters, so Hewitt may have one last GS run left in him.

Yeah a horror draw apparently, but drawing an over ranked top 8 seed like Tipsy is good for a deep run, beat him and then you get his seeded draw to the quarters. Benneteau and Dimitrov a tough 1st round match in Hewitt's quarter.

Hewitt vs Tipsarevic will be a 5 setter, absolutely no doubt about it. Could go either way.

Also Tomic vs Federer rematch of last year in the 3rd round if they make it.

Omg, gonna be barracking hard for Lleyton against that shifty bugger Tipsarevic. Other matches of note:
Jarka v Wickmayer - tough one, although I think Jarka actually beat her last year?
Mitchell v Duckworth - nooo why'd they draw eachother... Probably their best chance of advancing though.
Millman v Ito - Johnny beat him at Brussy well.
Stosur v Chan - don't know who she is, but she'll probably win anyway.
Barty v Cibulkova - Domi's in great form....
Ebden drew a seed....
Woz v Lisicki will be very interesting, will Woz do another 1r gs exit?

Wozniacki V Lisicki in the first round, probs outside court :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu: - and I don't think many will be there for the tennis.

Also a great match up in the women's draw on day 1 and probably (hopefully) on an outside court is Schiavone V Kvitova - how often do you see two Grand Slam champions on an outside court? Would be amazing!

Day 1 should be reasonable then...

Sam Stosur could face Jie Zheng again in 2R if Sam wins and Jie beats the Chinese wildcard winner Yuxuan Zhang.

Stosur's draw is actually good. A shame she's so completely out of form. I guess you never know, one win might get the monkey off the back a bit but I think she's dug herself too much of a mental hole to get out of. Maybe Bernie can take all the attention for her and she can go under the radar a bit...
