Who do you think we should draft at years end? What do we need? Which mature players should we be targeting?

Personally I think if we have number 1 pick, we should take Boyd (at this stage). Patton, Cameron and Boyd sounds hard to match up on!
As for mature bodies, no free agents seem to suit our needs. I'm hoping we save our coin and go for Nic Nat next year.

What do you think?

As far as free agents goes, sticking primarily to Plan A and re-signing our good kids to contract extentions sounds like a plan.

I'd also wait and see how the year goes before deciding what free-agent holes we need to fill - yes, Brogan needs replacing, but Phillips will be a year older and therefore have a year more of physical development.

As far as a replacement for Brogan goes I noticed that Jarrod Witts is uncontracted pass this year, so might be well worth looking at and it would also be nice to get a Sydney bred player on our books. If we don't go in that direction would think we will look at the VFL or maybe even look the TFL again to get a solid ruckman.

Should we consider trading pick 1 to west coast for naitanui? Given his worth to them and the marketing dollars he makes it would take a significant trade to get him. Maybe throw in a player just outside 22 as well?

I think we could... Natanui would be a hit in the Sydney market and a gun ruck is the one piece we are missing

Not sure we need a Thomas Boyd, he is a great prospect but I'm happy with our young forwards and hoping if we do bring in a forward it's Buddy Frankin.

Our defence still concerns me, no doubt Plowman, Corr, Hampton and Davis are the future but perhaps we need to top this off with one with a real frame. All our defenders are light and athletic, we need a gorilla.

Whilst I really like Devon Smith as a small forward I still think we need improvement there. If there is a quality indigenous talent like a Cyril Rioli or Lewis Jetta around it would be nice option or maybe a Jack Billings who really impressed me last year.

If we keep our top pick and that is number 1 (very likely) then maybe James Aish (who looks the standout mid) or Josh Kelly. Whilst we have a nice list you can never have enough A grade mids.

Why not add another number 1 pick to our collection! Anyone feel we are getting overloaded with mids? A prime opportunity to trade for the missing cogs. Gorilla KPD eg frawley and gun ruck eg. Naita

Does Watts joining us have any merit:

I wouldn't mind Watts at the Giants (or the Lions).

I think he gets a horrible rap on here because he's the poster boy of every man and their dog piling on and talking him down. I also think that getting him out of Melbourne the club and also Melbourne the town would be a huge benefit to him, so he can work his way into his abilities out of the spotlight. The real question I'd have is whether he has that dedication to work into his abilities. He still looks like he's coasting a lot of the time.

Watts would definitely develop better away from the fishbowl of Melbourne but is there really room on our list for a third tall defender given we recently got plowman, corr, Thornton, gilham and that we also already have Tomlinson, setanta, frost, and that many other players play that rebounding defender role better eg bugg

Watts was drafted as a key forward and his goal kicking is exceptional.

What would you think would be a fair trade considering we terribly needs mids.

If he keeps up his current output then our second rounder or a player like whiley and a swapof seconds. That's probably the very best u could get unless he regains his form from last year

Was browsing through some team lists and what does everyone think of making a play for Alex rance from Richmond as a potential target for that gorilla KPD?? Would probably cost us alot but his age does fit with the gws recruiting strategy. What sort of trade would it take to get him?

In our first 2 years its been a case of our recruitment staff pretty much having a free reign in bringing our list together and for the most part have done a pretty good job. This will actually be the first time the head coach really has a strong say in the players that go and the players that we chase. So it will be interesting to see the direction that Cameron takes our list at the end of the year. And at the moment the following players all remain uncontracted beyond this year:

players we would likely keep

Taylor Adams
Liam Sumner
Anthony Miles
Nick Haynes
Kurt Aylett

players likely to be kept but could be traded for the right offer

Sam Darley
Shaun Edwards
Josh Growden
Josh Bruce
Gerald Ugle

Players who need to show more or could be shown the door

Nathan Wilson
Mark Whiley
Tom Downie
Sam Schulz

Plus you have Brogan & Cornes moving into coaching roles f/t, and I don't see Thornton playing next year. So there really could be a mini clean out. So it could be a very interesting trade period for us at the years end.

Exactly my point on NN. Will require pick 1, second rounder/Gerald ugle? AA ruckman before his prime years will not come cheap!just imagine NN roving his own taps and linking up with our gun mids!!! Gws will get a massive boost to live crowds with him jumping over opposition heads. NN and frawley/rance should be our aim this year. Adding more kids not so much

Cogs is/will be a brilliant player. But we have a horde of gun mids and o'rourke could potentially fill his role or one of our other mids. However there is noone on our list that can do what NN does. Cogs + the activated compo pick for NN and I'll say hell yes

I believe we have one more year access to being able to zone select NT players just hope we don't have a repeat of last year where we traded off very talented kids in Neade and Anderson.

Yep: The GIANTS also have zoned access to players from the Northern Territory from 2011 until 2013.
