Been a lot of hype about salary caps and lists. Journo's can't add up and even if they could they'd be doing it blindfolded.

Seems to me it is all panning out nicely.

Lynch in - Tarrant retired.
3 or 4 delistings we won't miss.
Everyone re-signed subject to no godfather offers.
Ball, Krakouer, MacCaffer, Keffee, Didak and Johnson fit.
Williams, Elliot, Seedsman and Paine emerging and pressuring for spots.
Witts and Ceglar on the up.

I can be as critical as anyone but, seriously, we are flag favourites for 2013 in my book and for a change I'm going to get on.

Meanwhile I am loving reading the Carlton Muppets posts on the main board. Delusion is an understatement. Let them enjoy MM and their rat infested club with its 100 board members and 200 unelected policy driver$ and let us just worry about winning games of footy. We sure as hell won't have to beat Carlton to win the 2013 flag.

And if we can fix our woeful field kicking, our poor goal kicking, find a way to stop teams clearing from our forward line and scoring so easily, making more contested situatations at clearances and scoring more I'm in too.

Sure we can jimmy - its called having something like a full list to choose from instead of being so injury riddled we have to play kids for much of the season.

Haha I'm with this guy!
So much work needs to be done it's not funny.

I think we can improve on 2012. I think Lynch can help our forward structure as well as getting Macaffer back in and another preseason into Paine we should be ok in that front. The team is mostly young and if we can avoid the injuries that we had last season then we should improve. The only worry is Jolly and whether he can go again at a significant level. I'm hoping that we can get some game into Witts next year to prepare for a team without him and get some depth better than Wood.

I think that Sydney should drop off after a great win but with an ageing side. Hawthorn could go either way. Losing the big one may spur them on further however I feel it can also be a negative for them as they gave it their best and came up short and this can be exhausting. See Pies 2011. West Coast should be there abouts again but trying to stay unbiased I think that our chances are looking good.

Keep in mind we finished 4th this year with the worst injury list, biggest negotiation distractions, and just ovverall scrutiny and crap by the media, and yet we still finished 4th.
And we also beat the premiers.
Not too much needs to be done imo.

Hopefully we don't get a disgracefully unbalanced draw like this year too.

Richmond beat the premiers AND the runners up...

And we also lost to Carlton. Twice. Badly.

The preseason is a very long time. Easily enough time for our football department to dissect our game plan, the opposition game plans and come up with something that will work well against them.

As for our field kicking, it was bad but is more easily fixed than a lot of people realize. First, the gameplan will almost certainly be changed so that we can attack from all parts of the ground which will create more space for forwards to lead into and as a result more margin for error with our field kicking. Second, barring another horrible run of injuries instead of guys like Williams, Sinclaire, Elliot playing regularly in the seniors we will have Krakouer back in who is about the best field kick in the side, and Ball is a pretty handy kick as well. I'm treating whatever gametime Didak gets next season as a bonus but if, against the odds imo, he plays the full season then that's another player with elite disposal who comes in.

I don't think sides with GF apsirations can take more 2-3 guys into a match who are poor kicks. For most of last season I rekon we had 5-6 who were average at best. Next year with our best 22 we will 2-3, maybe less if Seedsman comes on like I'm hoping and Didak stays fit.

Really excited the coming season. I think we can potentially be better then we were at our best in 2011 and we're going to have to be because the level of competition is going to hit a new level next season imo

I don't think we would deserve to start favourites, but I think we should expect a top 4 finish. Having said that, I am less confident about a flag in 2013 than I was for 2012, 2011, and 2012. The fact is we went backwards some way, and other teams went forward (and straight past us). We need to improve to win the flag. Will Ball and Keeffe be enough? I doubt it (considering we lost Tarrant). Will Ball, Keeffe and Lynch be enough? I still doubt it.

We will again be a prelimnary finalist - but we will need luck to go all the way, and right now, I think we are probably the 3rd best placed team to win next year (before knowing how trade week will end up.)

Granted we won't have to beat Carlton to win a flag (not that im as confident as you are) but I still want to beat those scum rats, so we don't have to put up with their crap for losing twice to that hump of shit like we did this year.

I'm actually really looking forward to next year. This year wasn't a failure especially considering all the injuries we had and the new coach change but we still shouldn't have lost some games that were easily winnable. That said, I'm sure everything that needed addressing this year will be addressed for next. I'm sure we'll pick up a couple more players from other teams either through free agency or through the trade period. It's definitely looking exciting for next year. Go Pies.

For 2013.

Pies need a legit counter for Hawks.... or Blues for the matter, their game style completely effective against Pies.... you know it.
But Blues will definitely change under Malthouse, should play similar to Pies minus the talented list.

I'm not scared of Swans, Pies match up nicely to them, Swans style of close, grind it out type of game allows Pies to equal chance at winning one on one contests so its whom ever turns up on the day and plays their better game wins.....

Watch out for Eagles... they can definitely give the Pies trouble, they are similar to Pies but have more defensive midfielders.
Basically over at their home ground, they have huge advantage, but over at Victoria, Pies advantage but only slightly.... they have the list and game style to beat the Pies.

Im interested on Richmond also.... see if they can improve and push the Pies.... Cats I was scared of in 2011, but ever since Buckley took over Pies have had the game tactic to neutralize the Cats... but also Cats took a big hit talent wise so...
