Well we are only 5 weeks from the NAB Cup and i thought we could discuss all things NAB Cup here including the games as well as who we all want to see playing and where on the ground.

Round 1 - Blacktown
Sunday 24th Feb
Game 2 Sydney vs Carlton
Game 3 Sydney vs GWS

Round 2 - Edihad
Sunday 3rd Mar
Sydney vs St Kilda

Round 3 - Blacktown
Saturday 9th Mar
Sydney vs Gold Coast

I personally really want to see Tom Mitchell playing in at least 2 of these games and i also wand to see how Reid and Membrey (or however you spell his name) function in the forward line together. Dean Towers is also another player that i am very interested in getting a look at.

Agree with towers. Given the injury list there is a chance a good early showing could see him with some game time rotating with the running HBF.

No guarantee we'll make the finals. There's always some wannabe team playing their arse off to win a piece of stainless steel for the dusty trophy cabinet (eg, GWS, Carlton). No doubt we'll use the NAB cup as a chance to showcase some newbies and try out a few things.

If we get over Carlton, I think we'll make the final. Don't care if we don't, though.

I just want to see the guys hungry for the football again and hopefully get a good look at Membrey, Towers, Lamb and maybe Mitchell. No injuries please, footy Gods.

Really caint wait for a footy fix again! i dont care who plays, as long as i get my fix! im really keen to see Membrey & Cunningham again would be good. would also like a chance to see what Lamb looks like. Towers, Lockyer, Marsh & Armstrong are the others im keen to see get some game time.

i also read that Mitchell is injured agian :( id love to see him too but doesnt sound very optimistic.

I'm keen to see the 2nd year players - Mitchell, Lockyer, Brown and Biggs and see if they have developed over the break. I remember coming back one pre season and my jaw dropped when I saw how much muscle Campbell Heath (sob) had put on.

Grim, why do you have a photo of Bedford as your avatar ?

Really love the NAB cup, chance to get a real look at our plethora of young talent. There are many things I want to see:

  • Armstrong and Morton to dominate and carve out roles for the season
  • Tom Mitchell and Jed Lamb to show us some of that hype and promise
  • Dane Rampe and Dean Towers to show they'd be worthy of selection if injuries hit
  • Sam Reid to start building for a ripper campaign
  • Tim Membrey to show us a few tricks (I'd love him to dominate from the start but might be difficult)

I don't imagine anyone in the rehab group will be playing, so we can see players in the roles of Smith, Mattner, Goodes from the firsts.

I can see Armstrong, Cunningham, Rampe or Lamb in the HB/mid roles. Maybe Towers or Membrey in for Goodes. Otherwise, seeing any of the next generation would be sweet.

I am planning on heading out west for it, and having trouble wrangling up mates (who I have trouble getting to regular season games). If there is a BF crew heading out, i'd love to be involved.

Story on the injury thread that Mitchell's been with the rehab group, and while better than last year there not going to put him under done into anything. If the story is accurate I dont think he'll be playing nab cup

So I've heard. If so, that's really disappointing. I can't imagine him breaking into the senior team without a full pre-season and impressive NAB cup under his belt.

I don't really ever take the ferry to Manly but I can imagine it'd be a better form of transportation than driving stolen cars or my biggest hatred... Trains.

I would rather us be careful and get him to 100% fitness than risk him injuring himself during pre-season.

His only 19 for god's sake he has many years to make his debut and be a fantastic player for us.

Let's get his body fit first and some serious experience under his belt before we throw him to the wolves!!!

One word: Blacktown.

I think you mean lets go to the 1st game and have a picnic and be all robbed and killed.

Been there twice and enjoyed it, nice spot. As long as you drive can't see there being any issues. But I'll see if I'm keen.

You mean you drive, honey?

Yeah I'm definitely going to the first one, not just because I get to laugh at Malthouse coaching Carltank and GWS pretending to be witches' hats but also because some inconsiderate boob has scheduled his birthday party on the night of the Suns game
