Ironically his price is tempting me this year.

383k for a very durable player that produced an average of 95 in 2011 is pretty hard to pass up.

He's in and out of my team as well...I guess it comes down to whether you can live with the shame (in my case twice) of being trolled by him. I can't see why he couldn't average 95 again though. It's not a contract year and the big potato who's spudiness was clearly rubbing off on Trav is gone. Not many players under 26 who have averaged 95 before yet priced at 72 going around. Either way, he shouldn't lose any money even if he doesn't end up being a keeper.

Can't see Cloke getting to keeper level this year. Needs 95+ to be top 6 based on this year but the game has changed massively and power fwds now struggle to score points. Excl Buddy (who plays a different way) the power fwds in 2012 averaged

Pav 95 (as per last 8 years)
Roughy 91 (incl ruck time)
Waite 88
Walker 87
N Riewoldt 86
Goodes 82
Petrie 81
J Riewoldt 80
Brown 80
Hawkins 80

The evolution of the game means unless the pwr fwd is pinch hitting in the ruck (Roughy) or sneaking up to HB with quick bursts in the middle (Pav or Buddy) they'll most likely be stuck in the 80s, similar to rebounding defenders.

Will Cloke improve, almost certainly. How much by, probably 10-12 ppg IMO. In a perfect year he might sneak enough improvement to be M6 but unlikely.

You make a good point there Dogs but...

Let me play Devils advocate.

Did the game really change that much in 2012 compared to 2011???

Clokes poor DT output last year could be attributed to off field distractions rather than a change in the game. Many of the power forwards that you have listed are no longer at the top of their game. Walker is on the way up and at the age of 22 he still has massive room for improvement.

Waite has never averaged more than 88.

N Riewoldt is not the same man.

Goodes played very deep for the first time in his career.

Petrie has never averaged more than 87.4.

Jack Reiwoldt is yet to prove himself as a DT option.

Brown... see N Reiwoldt.

Hawkins... see Jack Reiwoldt.

Pav still managed 95 as a power forward with very little time in the middle in 2012.

Cloke could go either way in 2013 and I am certainly not ruling out the possibility of a 95+ average. I am also not ruling out the possibility that he trolls me for the first time ever in dream team. I have never considered Cloke for dream team until this year. He has trolled my brother's team every year for the past 4 years, with the exception of 2011 when he did not have him.

I think it did change a fair bit. The "slingshot" came into effect which really slowed the output of a lot of power fwds and will do so even more in 2013 IMO. Team push their key fwds up the ground as decoys leaving space behind for the speedsters to run onto. Very rare these days to see power fwds isolated one out inside the fwd 50. If the trend continues I think they'll struggle.

North
Blues
Hawks
Tigers
Bombers
Saints
Freo
Cats
Swans

Not the easiest start. None of GWS, GC, Melb, Port or WB through the first 9 weeks
Jamison
Lake
Rance
Carlisle
Fisher
McPharlin
H.Taylor
Grundy/Richards

I think it really depends on Clokes form. In 2011 he showed that no one could match him when in form, whilst anyone could when outta form. From memory he still smashed up finals last year (hard oppos i guess).

Cloke's fwd pressure was right down last year. 30 tackles vs 63 the previous year. 13 games with zero or one tackle is poor. When his pressure is high, and he tackles hard, his confidence is up. Chicken / egg stuff possibly though.

Be keen to see how his pressure is through the nab and early couple of weeks.

Correct me if it is just my perception, but watching Collingwood a few times last year Cloke looked to be playing much closer to the goal square than he did in 2011?

Jesse Lonergan or Jaeger O'Meara

in my opinion you dont really want to be taking 3 gold coast players into your midfield (thats if you are of cause going with ablett) so just thought id raise the question, not sure if it has already been said or not,

for mine ill be going with Lonergan, purely on the basis he already has a ready made body for AFL, plus O'Meara has had a few injuries in his junior days.

then again thats my opinion and that may be affected by the fact Lonergan is a tassie boy and i want him to do well (;

Why when most are rookies? most will be gone by the bye and you have plenty of trades to change it up as the year goes by.

I know what you mean mate, personal preference i guess, i just hate stacking up parts on the ground with more then 2 people from one club, really up to how you like structuring your team i guess,

maybe Josh Simpson - reporta are very positive about him getting regular game time...

I'm thinking of leaving Budwood and StevieJ both out from the start...with a view to them being my first mid price to premo upgrade targets... i'd like to have buddy in by round 5 when he gets a chance to ravage the kangas again and Stevie J in before the byes as bye coverage.

i'd expect them both to go top 6 forward Ave by season end...both are capable of the massive score...

points decision - Stevie J to get more points by seasons end - due to buddy having a brain fart and clocking someone and missing 4-6...
