It hasn't been discussed as far as I know. I wonder who we could have been offering for it (Brian wont say - which is fair enough).

You'd have to think Armo & pick 18 would've been in play. Likely another pick/player in Melb's favour.

Was that the year winmar walked out on us?

Yep, shame it was too... we were sitting about 3rd when he walked out... fell in a whole and then won 5 of the last 6 (should of been all 6... blew a 6 goal lead against the pies).
Finished 12th with a 10W, 10L season.

Our deal for pick 2 was gazumped by GWS, were told yesterday we were over the line....

Has this been discussed? I'm starting to hate GWS if true....

Skeptical of this. Because it is said, doesn't mean it was so. One of those things that can be said to gain credibility and there is no way you would ever know otherwise.

I think that is a win/win for all. Saints want Bruce, GWS want Everitt, Swans can't afford Everitt so draft a kid around 41. Considering they traded in 35 or something for Mummy surely Everitt is worth around that pick 41

Yup I hope it's on the cards.

Knowing GWS they'd want pick 25 for Bruce and pay Syd pick 70 odd for Everitt. Have I said how much I hate them?

All they need to do is delist him and we pick him up as a delisted free agent (as we did with Roberton)

Not sure if this has been answered but is there a rule against that? If there is, surely the AFL would look into something like that considering that it was well known that there were a few clubs interested in him and then he becomes delisted.... but not sure if it would fall foul of any rule in particular.

Good writeup MightySaint
I reckon I'd have one more thumbs up on Murdoch though

My worry with Murdoch is that he relies too much on marking the ball to get possession which at his height is an issue. He ran through the middle and flanks more towards the end of the season and showed a little but he needs another trick to make it IMO.

I would have thought that Armo would be in there but (if I remember correctly) Brian has always said that Armo is not going anywhere.

Apart from him, I'm not sure who else has any kind of value that we could/would trade for pick 2. If we had McEvoy I could have seen us using him and Armo to get 2 and a swap of picks or something but I really don't know what we could have been offering. I'm a bit skeptical about if we could have ever pulled it off.

I'll file this away with the rumors about us having Martin and Frawley locked in to play next year. We may never know what could have been.

We were definitely flying that year. Pretty sure the game against the Pies was at waverly? There was quite a bit of Magpie memberships being torn up at 3/4 time.

99 wasn't it

I think we are getting mixed up a bit here. He walked out on us in 1993 after the famous Victoria Park game over a contractual issue. He and the team were flying at the time having just beaten Collingwood. He didn't play the next week and Diesel and Carlton smashed us (Diesel got over 40 possessions that day). He came back eventually but our season was derailed.

Why didn't we do a deal to pay some of Dals contract with money from our own salary cap we have the space. Dal gets more money and theoretically we get better compensation because his salarys larger.

Essentially we could have ended up with pick 4. I'm sure there's some saught of loophole.

It was 93, did Plugger do his ankle that year also..??

I like this game.

Polec issue: He's nominated Port, they won't use pick 14 and the Crows have the next best pick, being 23 (via Melb for Vince).

StK - picks 14 & 34
Port - picks 18 & 25
(They were rumoured to give 14 for GC's picks 20 & 27, our deal trumps that)

We on-trade 34 for Bruce

Live picks
3, 14 & 25 (hopefully turns into pick 19 via Haw)
