If we get Bruce for pick 41 and Longer for 25 that will be the best we could hope for (unless we can get one of them through the PSD :D) .

I will be slightly sad that we might not get to see Stanley as a dedicated forward/2nd ruck option but pick 25 for Longer would be an absolute steal!

Delaney for cheap/free is just the icing on the cake.

I would have preferred to have moved on Fisher, to be completely honest. Nothing against him, as he's been a great player, but we have far too many players of his type. I guess adequate trade offers were simply not forthcoming.

So if all this is true:

"St Kilda is set to secure Longer after he told the Lions he wanted to be traded to the Saints.

The Saints are expected to offer their Dal Santo compensation pick (No. 25).

St Kilda will in coming days secure Delaney for pick 77.

And while GWS wants Fisher and a draft pick for Bruce (but the Saints) aren’t offering Fisher and will secure Bruce in the pre-season draft if GWS does not accept pick 41."

I think a cherry on top would be the pick swap with Hawthorn to net us pick 19 :D:p

We won't get Longer for pick 25. Hawthorn offered 18 and it was rejected. Would need something like 18+Stanley or another player
Except Brisbane aren't really in a position to knock back offers

Could see Stanley wanting out next season if it goes as planned.

So:

McEvoy, Dal Santo, 24 & 25 = Savage, Longer, 18, 19

Edit: If we get Longer for 25.

I think we have to play Stanley next year to either increase his value or see him cement a spot in the team. If he fails he wont be worth much less than he is now so it is all upside risk from what i can see.

If we finish the trade period:

McEvoy, Dal Santo, 24 & 25, 41, 77 = Savage, Longer, 18, 19, Bruce, Delaney

I'll be very happy.

'It will now have picks three, 18 and 19'

:thumbsu:

We did knock back Hawthorns offer of 18. Knowing he could go into the PSD and get picked up early. Longer's manager has already said if a trade can't be done he will stay at Brisbane.

With that said, I think a fair trade will be reached between the two clubs.

Longer would want to be a lot better than McEvoy for it to be worthwhile. So far he's still more hype than substance.

Reading the article re Longer he's being groomed to be a forward/ruck, and if we acquire Bruce and Delaney as key backs then Stanley will be in direct competition with Longer as that forward/ruck option.

I made it known how I felt about McEvoy's game before he was traded and I'll make it known about Stanley as well (sorry Stanley_Knifes). I don't think he lasts in our best 22 for too much longer and will be trade bait within the next year or two, if not this trade period.

With the likely acquisition of Longer (Stanley_Knifes could change his name to Longer_Knifes) and enquiry made by Port, I see an opportunity to trade Stanley while his trade value is at a premium, and moving up the draft order while we are at it.

Port want Polec however are lacking picks in that 20-25 range, and we have those picks in quantity. We could do worse to offer up: Stanley & pick 19 for pick 14. Port pass 19 to Brissy for Polec and effectively turn pick 14 into Polec and Stanley. Not bad going, really.

I suspect pick 14 gets us right in the Crouch, Bontempelli, Sheed, Acres, Salem conversation, while keeping pick 18 for a Dumont or Dunstan type.

Lets just say we do get Longer for 25 (I doubt we will tho), Bruce for 41 and Delaney for 77....

Net loss
McEvoy, Dal Santo & Stanley

Net gain
Savage, Longer, Bruce & Delaney

Draft
3, 14 & 18 for young guns & pick 90 odd to upgrade Curren.

And heck off Jolly.

When was the last time we had a good young ruckman/men combination? Sure Big Ben is a great guy/player but not tap ruckman. Only Everitt in the last 20 years? Hype.. brooks et al. I think Longer and Hickey present much more upside going into the future than just hype or what we've previously had at our disposal..

So the 3 way trade would be:

Brisbane
In: 19, 25
Out: Longer, Polec

StKilda
In: Longer, 14
Out: 19, 25, Stanley

Port:
In: Stanley, Polec
Out: 14

Interesting. Would the Lions be more interested in that? They still look to be getting screwed but what choice do they have if their players want to leave?

Curious as to what you would define as a fair trade?
