Article in the HS mentioning that we're looking at Blaine Boekhorst.

His name continues to be raised as a possible recruit. Highlights package looks terrific and I certainly wouldn't be against the club calling his name out at 61 or 65, but I would have thought there would be better options available at our first two picks.

Carlton is eyeing Swan Districts bolter and ex-volleyballer Blaine Boekhorst.

How will people feel if/when Wright falls past #7 ??? Disappointed that we traded it away (how does he rank against Jaksch ???) ??? Glad that we didn't keep #7 as he isn't the type of player we need (more of a Ruck/FWD than a FWD/Ruck) ???

Rookie draft of late pick.

Teams really mindful drafting Ruckman in top10, so many question marks and need a good 6-7 years to develop. Kreuzer is a good player that went 1, but injury has held the poor guy back.

The new trend in today's recruiting when it comes to Ruckman is to let them develop elsewhere and get them once they reach 23-24 when they hit their prime and ready to go. Reality is its painful developing Ruckman and teams rather steal than put constant effort and faith in 18 year old Ruckman and who can blame them.

Teams play it safe nowadays. If Rucks slip past 10 which have unique qualities like a Nic Nat or Wright then picks 12-20 is safe bet to get them as can also develop as forwards.

Even if Bluez have 7 don't see them picking up Wright. If Blues had pick 1 again in 2007, Wouldn't be Kreuzer they would get him in 2nd round say pick 17 given the trend in recruiting and draft habits

Billy Longer example goes high like pick 8 but struggles in NEAFL at VFL level and if trades might be worth late 2nd to early 3rd round

Trying to put together a mock draft to work out who'll be at 19 is near impossible... way way way too many permutations and possible outcomes at the moment. I just need to stop thinking about the others and be happy with whoever we get, who could be any one of 10 guys at our first, and another 30 with our 2nd...

7 more days.

I hope your right that would be a fantastic result, as far as my ratings go, out of the outside midfielders I rate him above Cockatoo and Garlett
Is cockatoo even a pure outside mid? I thought I heard somewhere that he was a powerful inside midfielder with good pace (and maybe endurance, can't remember) that had the capacity to play outside

Rookie draft of late pick.

That's what I've been thinking, but given the recent murmurs I'm not so sure anymore.

Chris Pelchen has just said he thinks Boekhorst is around the mark for pick 28.

Blaine may be a player we decide to pull the trigger on at 28 if we want him and don't believe he'll be available at 61.

Got him in the rookie phantom draft on the D&T board.

His WAFL stats are quite impressive. Averaging almost 21 touches per game this year. A work colleague who knows Blaine told me we had spoken to him during the year. He didn't mention any other teams having spoke to him. Although I'm sure they have by now.

I wouldn't "waste" a pick on a 21yo.

if this year's draft is so even up to pick 28, I'd be asking what characteristics saw Boekhorst overlooked in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

He also said he can't see Ellis getting past Richmond.

We're not going to let him go on that one, are we? :)

McLean at #28 with better players still on offer? Can't see it but who knows.

If we got Mclean at 28 I will jump for joy, Reckon he's a top 10 talent and will develop into goal kicking big numbers midfielder similar to Rockliff although slightly shorter.

If Weller or Cockatoo slide to 19 we should be all over them, not likely but we can dream.

If we pick B.Boekhorst with 28 Rogers might as well resign on the spot because he won't be in recruiting in 2 years time.

What age was Isaac Smith when the Hawks drafted him? That looks like a master selection now. Some players just mature later. Some take time to work out what their strengths and weaknesses are and how to make the most of them. I don't think it will happen but I wouldn't be pissed if we took him at 28.

If we took him at 28 we have learn't nothing, the only person who thinks he's worth 28 in Pelchen the peanut and he's talking out of his arse

No problem taking him at 65, that's about his value. Take Caleb Daniel over him at 61 every day of the week.

What's wrong with Boekhorst at 28? If Rogers rates him there then go for it. There's been plenty of good state league footballers come in as mature agers. With the Herald Sun's and Pelchen's latest whispers my phantom now looks like:

1. Saints........Petracca
2. Melb ..........Brayshaw
3. Melb ..........McCartin
4. GWS ..........Pickett
5. C’wood ......De Goey
6. GWS ..........Laverde
7. GWS ..........Lever
8. G.C. ............Duggan
9. C’wood .......Moore
10. G’long ......Wright
11. W.C. .......Ahern
12. R’mond ....Marchbank
13. Freo .........Garlett
14. Adel .........Durdin
15. G.C. .........Langford
16. North .......Weller
17. E’don .......Garlett
18. Syd ..........Heeney
19.C’ton ........Menadue
20. E’don .......Goddard

Then Ellis, Viojo Rainbow, Miller, Cockatoo etc etc...

#19................Menadue

#28................Boekhorst

I rate him too, but talk of him at 28 is lunacy, every chance he's still there at 65. We've been sucked in too many times by donkeys like Pelchen and reached to early for players.
