Mate the only ones pushing that line are Essendon and their apologists. Unless this is your only brief access to the media, they are being issued with notices detailing all of their activities with illegal substances. They have had this evidence checked by a retired judge, who says that the players, officials and club have cases to answer. Yes, discussion for another place, but please, take your defence of Essendon to their board, NOT here.

Yeah, I don't see anyway that could happen because it's too good but I really enjoyed the trade radio flogs "debating" whether that was a good deal or not. One of them said they would take it and the other said "Really??."

ST KILDA'S contingent has arrived at Etihad Stadium with little more than two hours remaining in the NAB AFL Trade Period after spending the morning off-site finalising their trade strategy.

List manager Ameet Bains said the club had no news to report on discussions around its pick No.1, with no clubs making approaches on Thursday.

As AFL.com.au reported on Wednesday night, the Saints have knocked back four offers for the prized selection, and they will not actively seek deals on Thursday.

They are, however, open to approaches and expect two clubs to seek them out for talks in the final two hours of the Trade Period.

"As we've said all along we're more than happy to take that pick to the Draft and pick the best player in the country," Bains said.

"We're open to anyone coming to speak to us.

"If GWS want to speak to us we will."

The Saints will trade for Sydney Swans forward Tim Membrey if they can, but will otherwise select him with their first selection in the Pre-Season Draft.

Trading pick 1 is a difficult decision. Regardless of what we get, there will be people who don't agree. Trading that 1 pick for multiple picks would be a risk. A big call. Challenging.

Hopefully we have the balls to go for it (if we get the right price, of course).
