Very much agree with this. It is strange that 34(?) of them went along with it though. If it was 4 or 5 it would appear more sinister for those players, but such a large group and it becomes questionable. Is it possible that all 34(?) are drug cheats and villains? Seems hard to believe.
The cult of Essendon?

Any compassion for the players? Serious question.
I have had the view (before we drafted Paddy) that the club should be punished, not the players.
Had the same view about Tippett as well, that the club should be punished. I recall being a guy in my 20s and if my employer who I trusted gave me whatever the Essendon players were given, or they put a contract in front of me I probably would have done it.
In my opinion Essendon should be crippled at an Administration and coaching level, the players probably were unaware of what they were doing.
Under Asada or Wada taking prohibited substances unknowingly is not a get of jail free card. They have to be suspended if guilty. Otherwise everyone would claim it..

Players should have questioned club more - but I do feel for them. All off field dons staff involved should be thrown out of the afl!

I seriously can't believe Hird is still coach
I can't believe how stupid the Dons administration has been to extend his contract.

So Port hey, actively recruiting drug cheats.

Hopefully Paddy isn't too sensitive come showdown time....I mean he is likely to be a drug cheat by that time.
A crow fan throwing the "cheat" tag around. That's a bit rich.

It will be very interesting with what happens. If Ryder does get a whole year off then I would almost say we would of been better off with the picks. Could regret not getting Gorringe and/or Lowden.

A cheat is a cheat, we got rid of our cheats, you are bringing them in....

I know through my competitive sporting days that from primary school we were told how you were tested for banned substances by ASADA. Then all through my teen years and and on sports camps had multiple lectures on the process and precautions to take when dealing with such substances. If bloody primary school kids can understand it I am pretty professional athletes can. Let there be no mercy. 18-24month ban.

ASADA is not a little bitch, they have ****ed up many cheaters sporting careers and they will do the same here.

ps. enjoy your wasted draft picks Port.

Fair call. Nothing but positive changes for you guys no doubt.

Maybe we just took another player away from the cheats. We should save Heppel and Carlisle next.
you think he'll take the offer to settle the case.

Be interesting to see what happens when the non dons players start doing that.

I'd say so. I suppose it all depends on how long he will be out for. A massive kick in the balls if he misses the season. To be honest the whole essendon drug thing has bored the hell out of me so I havnt paid attention. Might need to look a bit closer now :)

Ps. I like what the Crows did. A Port supporter summed it up nicely on your board before. I really would of liked Lowden at Port.

Agree with most of the sentiments on here regarding Essendon and as I qualified on my initial post I had a position before Ryder was a blip on our radar as most would.
Seems like some on here have some compassion to the players, I know I do. But I agree they should be punished to set an example that players need to ensure they take responsibility for their actions. I still think the Club should wear the brunt of the punishment. Ultimately a lot of the players that play AFL are still very immature and would not know better than to accept the word of their coaches. I don't understand half the stuff they are talking about vitamins/drugs etc...
I would also argue that prior to this, most if not all clubs, could go through this if their Admin and Coaches decided to cheat. The players at any club would most likely have gone along with what their Admin and coaches advised (this has probably changed now and so it should). Do you think if the crows hierarchy implemented this programme that your players would have responded any differently to Essendons? I guess this is my point, the players are almost inconsequential (could have been at any club, they are footballers), it's the staff that breached the duty of care that should be targeted, and heavily.

I gave no idea about him tbh.

We can only hope he is better than Gus.

Dan Gorringe.... Oh he mad!
So you guys don't want him and after his little outburst he won't come to us now. Coming back to Adelaide seems a tad difficult now. I'm really not sure how he expected us to get him after the Ryder deal.
