Good to see an opposition supporter rate McKenna. Maybe not quite top 10 on performance but has tremendous upside imo
I like McKenna. Lightening quick and a typical fiery Irish man. Has developed really quickly. Is a player I would love at the Blues because, although he's still raw, he's not vanilla like so many others.

When I watch Essendon he looks just as dangerous as Saad. HB easily your best line.

He's probably more dangerous given Saad was generally the one tasked with taking the opposition's best small forward.

The whole back line should be a strength next year assuming father time doesn't catch up with Hooker.

4- Darcy Moore (Was pick 9) F/S
5- Chirstian Petracca (Was pick 2)
6- Jake Lever (Was pick 14)
7- Angus Brayshaw (Was pick 3)

National only, Heeney and Gresham were both pick 18 (Spooky) ;)

I don't understand why you'd have Moore that high.

He's pretty much done nothing in his career.

Fair enough, but considering the amount of hamstring injuries he has suffered I think he has actually achieved quite
a lot. 200 cm players who can move like him are very rare I think if he was an open draft choice and not a father
son pick he goes top two in that draft along with Heeney.

Now he wouldn't.

If he can become injury free it would be easier to judge.

He is not best 22 at ess. Who’s spot is he most likely to take?
Thats a good assessment, i believe he is best 22 but his selection would come at the expense of a Stewart/McKernan/Brown up forward i think it depends on how many 3rd tall forward we want. He has proven to be too good for the VFL so if he doesnt get a solid spot this year i could see him moving clubs to say a Gold Coast or Carlton where he will no doubt play 22 games a season injury free.

If he's not getting a game in front of Stewart/McKernan/Brown, I'm not sure he's getting a game in front of Curnow/McKay/McGovern.

I would personally play him ahead of all 3 of the Essendon players I listed but even then I don’t think playing as a pure forward is his go, ideal hypothetical at Carlton would be him rotating with Setterfield/Kennedy through the midield and forwardline. Essendon seem set on playing Lav as a 3rd tall but he has more tricks than that.

Probably more room in the midsize role at Carlton and it's not like all 3 will be picked ahead of him it's one of those guys alongside Daniher & Stringer

Fair enough, always nice to chat to people who would have McCartin over Heeney or Moore. ;)
You've got him ahead of Brayshaw, who's coming off a third placing in a Brownlow and a club top 5 B&F position.

It's hard to take some posters seriously.

Hence the emoji, Brayshaw never even got an invite to the Brownlow Medal so not even the experts picked that. I like
the attributes of Darcy Moore I think he is a unique talent, but as you say he has been affected by injury much the
same as Brayshaw and Petracca, it's just an opinion. Everyone sees things differently, the father son and academy
system was different back then.

Yes, no-one expected a third placing in the Brownlow.

But it was obvious he was having a fantastic year from the moment he started playing on-ball in round 7 against St Kilda. In the 19 games he played midfield he averaged 27 disposals and kicked 14 goals, hence a top 5 placing in the B&F of a prelim team.

He might just have Moore covered.

Yeah fair point, but how many draftees have the Angus Brayshaw DNA and how many have the Darcy Moore DNA ?

It appears you're projecting as opposed to evaluating. Did you make that clear when you posted your rankings ?

As for Peter Moore, I saw his career and consider him one of the more overrated players in the game. And yes, I'm aware he's a dual Brownlow Medallist, which is at odds with my comments on Brayshaw's quality year.

Not really projecting in two years hopefully he is still 200 cm tall and able to move like he does, I think when you try and evaluate
you look at things positionally 50 + Games for a tall can be equal to 75 + Games for a mid in the same time frame. Big smooth
movers like Joe Daniher and Darcy Moore every team wants one, I would love to see Charlie Curnow playing Centre Half Back or
as a big Winger, but that is a conversation for another thread.

Darcy Moore is a trek through the Amazon from being top 10 in this draft on form, but he has definitely done more than ‘nothing’. It’s not like he’s been a spud his whole career - he’s been inconsistent, with his good form being very, very good. His highlight videos on YouTube are good by any measure of a young key position player; they really display his capabilities.

How has his pre season gone so far?

Up forward - mostly bad with the occasional day where things worked out for him.
Down back - has looked incredible, a do it all CHB prospect.

The real question when trying to rate him is whats the story behind all these injuries. I'm not buying at all that he keeps having tight hamstrings. There's something not quite right there.
