We can otherwise hate them but when it comes to academy kids and things that concern all of the northern clubs such as player retention there should be some sort of alliance.

Sorry if this has already been covered but when is the academy bidding?

I believe they are turning the Draft Night into a big media circus as we'll be under the pump to match any and all bids on the night.

No doubt it will be a media circus, but why wouldn't we match any bid? If we have the opportunity to pickup a player that is rated above our available picks then it would be silly not to match the bid - we get a player who is better than we could get with our next pick. If a club was to nominate Chol at pick 22 then we wouldn't match if we still have a pick in the 20's because we could do better with that pick.

Can pretty much lock us into match Keays and Hipwood. Unless maybe Carlton bid on Hipwood at Pick 1 just to be dicks. The other kids will depend on what picks we have and what deficiet we may go in to...

what would happen if Hipwood gets bid on pick 18 and Keays gets bid on pick 20 for instance... that would land us in debt next season right?
How would having to pay much less land us in debt?

Because we would only have a 3rd/4th rounder to bid on these prospects when we would have to have 2nd rounders? IDK I haven't done the maths behind it.
You realise we have 21 which is right after 20...

And you realise we're doing the Aish deal with all our ins. We need picks. 2x second round picks will do it.

IDK thought we might be getting Bell + Astbury for 21 (or something like that) and so far Aish isn't going to be traded. It was just a random thought.

Aish will be traded. Situation changed and we need the points as we're bringing almost everyone on our realistic hit list. The points we get will easily cover us however for the bidding.

Was just wondering that currently the dogs have pick 11 and need a kpp so could bid for hipwood but if the three academy boys (mills, hopper and kennedy) get bid on befroe pick 11, does that mean that the dogs pick moves to 14 and thier pick will drop points or do they still have the same amount of points as the 11th pick

It becomes pick 14. If you match a bid at any pick, you now have that pick and the club who initially did slides down 1. Means that if Hopper, Mills and Kennedy were all bid on by Essendon at pick 4 (unlikely, but as a hypothetical), and all three were matched, Essendon's first pick would become pick 7 and everything would slide down accordingly.

Ok cool, thanks for confirming that

If GWS keep 7 and 8 to bid on Kennedy and Hopper, the Dogs pick 11 will only slide to 12.

Yes please, underrate them as much as possible!

Would have helped if they deliberately went terrible the the combine

0/10 for kicks, 2.3 on the beep test, 0 on the jump test, didn't jump...

Probably some rule against that

Except that GWS have pick 8, and will probably have pick 7. My understanding is that the next pick effectively gets moved up to the appropriate spot.

So if Hopper attracts a bid before pick 8, as is likely, then GWS' next pick gets moved up to wherever the bid was at. There aren't actually any more or less picks in the top 8.

So it becomes pick 13, and possibly pick 12 depending on the bid for Kennedy.

They mentioned on Trade Radio that Hipwood has grown. The updated phantom has him at 202cm, previously was 200cm.
Updated weight? Still ~40kg?
