what about loan period like in EPL?
Much as I really like this idea in an AFL context, I reckon the salary cap would consign it to the too hard basket.

Realistically - a fair trade would be croz for Black

Both have currency
Both suit needs of their new club
Both get to 'go home'
Both have played the same amount of games any showed something

and I don't think steak knives would be needed from either side unless one finds more game time / form this season than the other

Thoughts?

Pretty much. Sounds like a win win to me. You can't trade without giving something away. Im a fan of Black.

We'd need to give a little extra IMO. Purely on the basis that Black is contracted and Crozier isn't.

Could leave Crozier walking into the draft and ending up with the WCE. Nobody wants that. Particularly not Crozier. They'll deal if they want him.

Save the cash and get Hogan. He looks brilliant.

Has Crozier stated he wants to leave or something? Honestly its round 4 and his names already being thrown up for trade.

Vic who is out of contract and struggling to make 22.

I would love to keep him but who knows if he will stay.

What's the go with conca at Richmond? Haven't seen much of him this season - pretty sure his contract is up EOY. Depth player at best? Is a WA boy

Hogan looks unreal would throw anyone but Fyfe and Hill at him but that's what I reckon they would want

Hogan just oozes leadership, generally those type of guys aren't the ones to leave a club. (See Pav)

Financially I think the Dees would be able & willing to offer the same or more then we could.

:(

Yeah, I have to agree unfortunately. He's going nowhere.

De Boer
Suban
C Pearce
Mzungu

Sheridan
Crozier

That is my list of midfield type players who complete with each other for a spot in the best 22, and who are ready to go. Half are currently in. Clearly we have depth.

Add to that Weller, Blakey and Grey as players pushing for consideration; there are others as well.

In addition, Sutcliffe could play more midfield and Spurr could be expendable as others could play his role.

That group of players is imo our trading currency. For this year's trade period I would also be open to including our 1st round pick as an option.

Here's a hypothetical trade scenario for you -> 2 potential champions in Hogan + Brayshaw for match winning franchise player Nathan Fyfe.

Fyfe is my favourite player in the AFL, but I would do it for the sake of overall sustained team success.

No o_O

Crozier is a superior player to Black in my opinion. They would play the same role at Fremantle but Crozier is faster, has more creative handballs and can cover more ground.
They are nothing a like, and most definitely would not play in the same role. Ones a half forward/mid and the other is a tall forward.

You go away and think about what you just said.

The idea of Black as a tall forward is a tall forward, he is a pressure medium tall, North are so happy with him as a power forward they pulled in Waite to fill that role. I'm not convinced he has the marking power over his head after his shoulder operation either.

and just what would that do for the culture of the club??? Select well, develop within and create an environment that young players want to be a part of.

There are no magic beans!

So.... You don't think having Fyfe in the team for the next 10 years will bring sustained team success...? And you want to trade the best kid in the comp away (who also happens to be a WA country boy) for a couple of kids with potential (a very dangerous word to trade for mind you)? This is Trade week quality bigfooty posting at it's best.
