You shouldn't have been joking. You were correct. They were lucky to get that penalty at the last minute.
And how stupid was it not to make some changes and put in fresh legs before the 88th minute?
They were lucky to be in the game with 2 legit goals disallowed and their goal offside.

Agree on the changes however. I think our best 11 available were on the pitch and Amor rightly has no confidence in Djite whatsoever.

We should of won atleast 3-0 as those offside calls were awful.

I agree we should of made some subsitutions. It's a pity we didn't have Eli for the game :/

Rumor as fact .......the lady at the heart of Dustin Martin "hiccup" has been coerced by the AFL & Richmond to paint a less serious picture of the event

This from both organizations that purport to support violence against women ....well to the public anyway, but apparently not behind closed doors when it impacts their core business :mad:

I am sick of double standards .....double speak ....and politics in football

Greg Williams got 10 weeks for pushing an umpire

Phil Carman got 16 weeks for headbutting the Umpire .....albeit the umpire got in his face and i would have done same

The AFL invented the term "bringing the game into disrepute" ..........pity it only applies under a previous administration

Dustin Martin should be suspended for the season .......he won't though and i am betting he gets less than Williams and Carman :mad: ........how the f..k he he still allowed to train ?????

I'm not sure about suspending for a season but a decent length of time & fine... But it is despicable if the Afl are trying to cover up the severity of this. That is just as bad as the incident itself.

Can't wait for this to all blow up in Geelong's face. Danger is a gun but the rest of their ins are either just average (Henderson/Smith) or spuds (Selwood) and given who they've lost or are about to lose after the 2016 season, they're barely breaking even and I can easily see it going belly up.

The fapping by the media over them reminds me of how much Brisbane were talked up as top 4 after Crazy Vossy's infamous trade period a few years ago. Danger and an easy draw will see them get top 8 but not much further than that IMO. The other three won't make the massive difference that the vic-centric media are wishing for.
I don't think they are a guarantee of top 8 as their depth is shocking. If their usual suspects are injured, they won't make the finals.

It would appear the Afl's integrity unit lacks integrity & badly needs an overhaul.

If the Afl had an integrity, they would come clean on this matter.

They should be concerned about the welfare of the victim, rather than making sure their image is the priority.

This is a ridiculous waste of resources. I'm with the AFL and Richmond on this. It's being completely overblown.

Nah. If Martin really was threatening people like a ripe ****head he should be dealt with

The Herald Sun can reveal two other people who have backed up her story are being contacted by police, who are working though the entire reservation list for the night.

Why is it a waste of resources to investigate an alleged drunken tool trying to intimidate a woman? Should they just ignore it...

Already is. See the frequency in which the AFL includes mention/photos of him in articles. It's a bit ... over the top, and part of me feels that his move to Geelong was something the AFL were really big on happening.
This is gonna be like when Judd went to Carlton, he will be the darling of the Vic footy media.

Because police resources are limited. If this wasn't a high profile footballer do you think they'd be assigning someone to go through the reservation list of the restaurant and calling for witnesses?

Domestic violence happens every day. Most times the police are powerless to do anything accept write up a report.

Not really and Betts was only ever a second tier free agent
Need to remember that Eddie was Carlton's most popular player. He was their best selling jumper, and as is the case here the Carlton crowd loved him.

However yeah I was wrong, don't mind saying it (should try it some time) as we did not immediatley thrust Eddie into the head of our marketing once he came over, and let his cult status rise organically. I forgot about that with my initial statement.

Thinking about it, I now remember thinking Eddie is a "Crow" when standing on the Members side Terrace next to our cheer squad when Eddie gave Truck the ball to allow Truck to kick a goal with his last ever kick. Of course he was well embraced before then. But that further cemented him as a fan favourite.

I think my main point is that with Danger leaving we will all get a new favourite player. Yes I loved Danger as a crow, but due to the somewhat transient nature of player movement us supporters we need to accept players will come and go. I also now think that Geelong are giving Paddy everything he want.
  • He can leave near his mummy,
  • in the town he grew up with,
  • keep his missus happy,
  • but most importantly he is now a big fish in the smaller (than Adelaide) world of Geelong.
If Geelong have any success with Paddy there, Ling will lose his mantle of unofficial mayor of Geelong. Not because it will happen organically, but I bet there will be some sort of PR stunt having Ling hand Paddy the robes. And Paddy's ego will love it. Having said that I don't think Paddy has moved for team success, he has moved there for himself, bit like Judd. Difference is Judd had done it all before going to Carlton. Realistically Paddy has done nothing.

Have you ever listened to the former Victorian Police commissioner, Ken Lay speak? He has been very strong regarding domestic violence and in fact instituted a lot of change regarding how the Victorian police force deals with DV issues. Then there was a little Coroners investigation that had recommendations that have and are being instituted in Victoria. It is no wonder that this is being looked at.

So, because it happens all the time the police should just let it slide? Righto.

That's all well and good but how often do you think this sort of thing happens? If your daughter was a similar victim, but the perp was just a nobody who works at Bunnings, would you expect the same level of police interest?

I would expect that with the amount of witnesses in such a public place the police would be involved even it if was in a "Joe Average".

Know of a case where a guy got a 2 year good behaviour bond and a recorded conviction because he verbally threatened his then Girlfriend on the train.

Would suggest that further police action depends on the quality of witness. If it is done at home and is merely "he said/she said" with no physical evidence and no witness there would be lesser degree of investigation. But in a very public place, with quite a few witnesses most matters such as this would/should be investigated.

this isnt domestic violence, if there are laws that Martin broke (which i believe there are) then he should be dealt with. No need for making an example of Martin, thats just wrong, you work within the laws you have.

The AFL shouldn't be suspending him for periods on time similar to that of on field incidents, that ridiculous. sure fine him, publicly shame him if you want to go down that path, but let the legal system do its job without all the hysteria.

The end sentence is paramount. Compared to the other stars who left their clubs( franklin, ablett, judd) paddy wasnt part of a premiership. He left with the mission half done. If hed left after we won a flag nobody would begrudge him.
