Looks like we will take more matured players this year for instant success. Players not going to play in the next 2-3 years and out of contract will be out disregard of the potential.

There really wasn't much potential with those 3. Over the last 2 years they've all mostly played WAFL reserves.Looks like we will take more matured players this year for instant success. Players not going to play in the next 2-3 years and out of contract will be out disregard of the potential.

I rate Powell higher than Barass in the long run. There really wasn't much potential with those 3. Over the last 2 years they've all mostly played WAFL reserves.
I've posted something along the same lines as him previously. Was overheard by someone I know who was out with one of our East Perth players.
Not sure if it is across the board, or just this one player thinking he is arrogant.

Barass is not as mobile!? Don't you think?Think your the only one.
Can't wait to hear Eastern Rangers' opinion on the delisting of his Ropo.
I must admit i'm surprised with Maginness and Powell. Main was not really lighting the world on fire so he was kind of expected. The other two really showed potential.
Surely Karpany is going if these two are out. Maybe Lucas and McGinnity too.
Tunbridge OOC ?

Don't get it wrong. I am not saying Barass is not good. I am saying both of them are good but I rate one higher than the other on the basis of mobility. And we need more than two or three of these tall to shoulder the team in a few years time (otherwise we will face the same problem like the Dockers today)Barrass is gonna be a jet mate.
An interesting tidbit about form at WAFL level vs AFL level and reasons we might be overstating Powell's form, and Magginness' form last year.
Damian hardwick (like Simpson, a Clarkson protege) was commenting on Kamdyn Macintosh's year and said that in his first three years he never showed any signs of dominating VFL level, and that his progression to AFL ranks was on his execution of team strategy at a VFL level, things like running patterns and positioning; and then went on to comment often times the gap between AFL and VFL was so great that leaving first round picks in the state leagues too long simply stagnated them as being great state leagues players rather than serviceable AFL players.
Perhaps given Hardwick's (and Simpson's) time at Hawthorn is wouldn't be surprising to see some of these development insights being transferred into the eagles' list and that methods of monitoring development may be more abstract than what we're traditionally used to?

Barrass will be much better with more time in the gym, etc. Needs to be a lot stronger in order to contest against bigger forwards, but already a very smart defender, so its the only thing he's missing.I rate Barrass a lot higher. Barrass reads the game exceptionally well and has a great mark.
very surprized at this. I was really looking forward to Powell's development. From what i read on these boards, he was coming along nicely. Disappointing, but i guess we will need to watch this space and see what happens.Nooooooo not ropo
