There is a reason. Contracts
Meh.

We live in a time of supposed crowd maximisation.

Every year there are tennant clubs from Etihad that play home games at the G.

Contracts are just a little bit more fluid then......

We should never play Collingwood at Etihad.

Also Carey and Mooney from there for a North connection, as the club just retweeted someone saying.
Frank Gumbleton's from Ganmain & (dare I say it) David Trotter is from Lockhart, both a stone's throw away. Reasonable number of North fans in the region

Apparently there is a strong suggestion we have the Blues in round 3.

R1 - Crows at Etihad
R2 - Lions Gabba
R3 - Blues at Etihad

That's seems a remarkably soft start for a team that finished 4th.
Yes sir. 3 and zip after round 3 is music to my rear.

NAB Cup is big(ish) for us next year. We've done well enough in the past couple of years but a side who hasn't won in Round 1 for 7 years and hasn't reached the end of May at better than 50% in 8 needs to hit the ground running eventually. I'd like to think we'd make some sort of statement somewhere in the pre-season - show a harder edge.

Im not convinced with that.

Last year we narrowly lost to the Crows. Beat the three time premier. And beat the tigers.

NAB means nothing.

Our mindset in round 1 will tell me all i need to know about whether its the same old or we have turned a corner.

Assuming we have turned a corner, there is no point being March champions.

It's not who we beat - it's how we play. We consistently start seasons unprepared. Can't keep doing that. We've never really bothered much with the NAB Challenge - like most teams. But whatever way we've set ourselves up for Round 1 in the past has failed absolutely. Maybe do something different and make some sort of impression in March. Doesn't mean we'd be March champions.

Very happy with a game in Wang!

Not too far from home.

In my younger days I spent a lot of time in Tarrawingee the Plough Inn Hotel which was owned by my Uncle and Aunty P&M Nolan.

Where's not too far? Is that like the 'ol country not too far? As in a six hour drive :p

This. NAB Challenge form is usually pretty indicative of how teams are going to go in the season proper.

2 games this year come to mind. The first is West Coast's opening game against Carlton down in Mandurah. I headed down there expecting to see a pretty ordinary match - instead what I saw was an absolutely manic forward press from the Eagles that was a sign of things to come. The other game was Port Adelaide's second against Richmond where they barely gave a whimper as Ken Hinkley sat smugly on the sidelines looking like he couldn't care less about the way his "big 4" side played that day. They both ended up surprising for different reasons once the home and away season got underway, yet the signs were there early for everyone to observe.

So much of stripping * from the anzac schedule...........only proves the AFL pimp themselves out the earn the biggest dollars.

Did the AFL ever come out and say anything about taking Anzac Day off them? It's one of their biggest earners, no way will they mess with that. Money>integrity
