Gibbs at Port would be good just to watch his Dad have kittens.. no chance in hell & no chance we'll be helping the Crers get a deal done either in reality.
My bold
Bryce certainly hasn't fallen far from the tree. His old man was insufferable. Played in a team full of insufferables.

That's a ridiculous trade

From whose perspective the Blues or the Crows?

A first plus a decent player is no more ridiculous than us paying a first and second round pick for Charlie Dixon. Gibbs is less than half way through a five year deal so Carlton have the upper hand just as Gold Coast did with us this time last year.

So we wouldn't be happy with pick 13 last week, but throw in a third club and suddenly a reasonable minority thinks it's ok?

I want Hartlett out, but not for trades that simultaneously give us an average pick AND our rival a desperately needed replacement mid for chump change. The mind boggles.

If people are going to screw over a club in fanciful trades at least don't make it Port.
Go something like:

Port - gain pick 5
Lose - Hartlett, O'Shea, Lobbe

Crows - gain Gibbs, O'Shea
Lose - B Crouch + 13

Carlton - Gain - B. Crouch, 13, Richmonds 2nd round pick
Lose Pick 5, Gibbs

Richmond - Gain Lobbe
lose - 2nd round pick

Unrealistic, but at least in our favour. Players we want out and a top pick. Now to solve world peace.

Somehow the 'dangers wife wears the pants', 'Soft wanting to be with family' type talk from last trade period as Dangerfield and wife moved back to be close to family won't get a big run if they land Gibbs.

I went over their for a quick read before and my Cognitive Dissonance Meter exploded.

At least Danger saw out his contract.

I don't want that smug sniping campaigner Gibbs at Alberton. It'd be like waking up next to Kelly O'Dwyer or Sophie Mirrabella.

We could not afford him anyway. Assuming he is not coming home for less, Gibbs would have to be on 500-550k per annum. His five year deal was reported as 'nearly 3 million' over five years.

From the AFL Trade Hub

If only Eddie knew how to pass

Meanwhile at Carlton...

Carlton CEO Steven Trigg reverts back to his paperbag strategy in order to keep budding superstars Sam Kerridge and Matt Wright at Princes Park.

Make them pay Blues, make them pay.

Im sick of this go home crap....
IF a player uses the go home thing, every state he can go to has 2 afl teams now or more in vic.
He chooses to go home, the club has the right to negotiate the best trad efor him from any of his home team states willing to pick up his current contract.
Hes not a free agent he shouldnt be able to choose which club in his home state he wants to play for

He's a human being and he should have the same right to choose his workplace as you or I do.

what a crock. he wants to play football in a NATIONAL competition. Wants to get paid big money. Why have a draft anymore? as i want to play for Port and im a human i choose to go there?
Look at the NBA. they way it should work

I hear what your saying but section 92 of the constitution "restraint of trade" says otherwise.
When push comes to shove clubs roll over or else the whole draft falls apart.

Just a quick guide for people looking to evaluate draft picks:

Pick Range - Average Games
1 to 10 - 111.54
10 to 20 - 94.72
20 to 30 - 71.88
30 to 40 - 79.89
40 to 50 - 72.47
50 to 60 - 59.17
60 to 70 - 57.17
70 to 80 - 54.57
80 Plus - 76.20*

* Probably explained by recycled players

Clubs have zero power and its only getting worse

Harts is contracted, we wont to trade him wont go....
Harts says he wants to go to freo is contracted we would just about have to trade him to freo and no one else... crazy

Interesting... so from pick 20 to 50 is about the same....

Strangely, you're more likely to get a player with picks 40-50 than 20-30.

I would suggest that in the 20-30 range falls the "talented with high upside but flawed" projects which don't always work out.

He's a human being and he should have the same right to choose his workplace as you or I do.
When you or I choose our workplace we don't sign a piece of paper holding them to pay us X amount of dollars for X years. You shouldn't be able to agree to one thing that suits you and then just change your mind. But if the player wants to break the contact then he can expect that to only be done under the terms set by the club AND if they agree to him doing so.

Demonstrates perfectly how over rated draft picks are

Yep, so like any other company with a number of offices (clubs), if head branch wants him elsewhere and he doesn't want to go he can always go to another company. Of course those (SANFL, WAFL) pay much less, but if lifestyle is paramount that's fully his choice.
