I didn't know ah Chee was contracted for 2017

Ild keep him unless suns offer a top 30 pick. People are nuts of they think that pick 44+ in this draft is anything other than a wild stab in the dark.

I looked on the PAFC website and it is carrying a story that basically keeps his, and the Club's, options open. Reading between the lines it is basically that he will be with us in 2017 if he isn't traded. It reads as if there was a performance clause in his 2016 contract that automatically triggered an extension if he played 11 games. In away that is good because it leaves him contracted to us but willing to move to the Suns.

If we could get Gold Coast's 26 or 30 pick I would say do the deal.

And you want to be Ports GM of Operations.

Not necessarily. Only two years ago we got Howard for 56 and Austin for 69.
I like them both but lets be honest they are far from proven yet.

*I'm falling into the keep n' hope rather than trade for peanuts mindset again.. cripes just shoot me

Doogies form in the SANFL would suggest he has the potential. But alas injuries can change players.

I think they've both exceeded expectations so far, considering their age and the positions they play. Especially Austin.

But I understand your concern as it is a bit of a gamble at that stage of the draft.

62 for Ah Chee?

CD: So I said, "Mr. Ashcroft, It's me Chris Davies, PAFC, ... " He doesn't move. So I said uh, "Can't trade ya'", "Can't trade ya'" He turns and smiles, the little baked bean teeth. I get up to run away, but something was holding me back. It was Marcus. He had my underwear. There I was on the steps of the Trade room ,a grown man, getting a wedgie.
KT: At least it wasn't atomic.
Davies: It was.

I'd be hanging out to get GC to trade us their 2017 4th round to be honest, it looks like the cull year has been delayed 12 months, and we don't want to spend yet another offseason going "oh we can't delist anyone because its pick 102 better hang onto spuds forever and never try new blood out"
Its good to say in theory but fill your list with pick 60+ players and the magpies start getting reamed weekly, our juniors dont gain confidence, they dont develop, disenchantment grows, players leave the club, fans walk away, training levels decrease because our internal training sessions involve players practicing against SANFL reserves quality players, the players then play AFL on the weekend and get smashed because they are so shocked by the change im level between our training standards and the game, and then after all that we're sitting here in 5 years saying what the hell happened to our list like Carlton.

We need to turn over our list, i dont deny that. But we need to do it slowly. A quick and deep cull will send us to the bottom of the ladder and personally i dont want that. But i also think that'd be terrible for the club off field with all that weve set up.

Although he didn't say a lot wrong I always find it a touch surprising that terry Tambling gets the title the list manager..

Hawthorn star Jordan Lewis’ management approached Melbourne in shock trade talks
The fact that Hawthorn initiated talks with Lewis and clearly raised the possibility of him moving is another remarkable sign of what the Hawks are willing to do to regenerate their playing list after going out in straight sets during the finals.

So Hawthorn initiated talks with their VC about moving on in order to reinvigorate their list with draft picks. When this move fails to happen, I can't wait to see how all the media starts criticising Hawthorn about the poor culture and handling of the situation of trying to move on their VC for draft picks then failing to make the move happen.

"Yep we need picks for our average players" get offered average picks "WHAT !!!!, HOW DARE THEY , WE HAVE SOME OF THE BEST PLAYERS THE AFL HAVE EVER SEEN" , god some of our supporters are still in denial

That's fine just don't be surprised when duds that will never get a game are picked up at 60 and beyond OK.

So in the space of a couple of hours we've gone from "we'll see if we have space for Arch later in trade period" to "we'll give you our 4th round pick for Arch"

Pick #62 is GC's first offer. This is a club that values picks over players and has a vested interest in keeping Callum happy.

As Gold Coast are about to lose Prestia and JOM, I'm happy to wait to and see if they land any additional 3rd round selections. By no means should we ponder pick #62 on its own - is a future pick an option? can we trade our way back into the second round this year?

At least we have something to talk about now.

Just in general I'd rather picks in next years draft. If we won't pull the trigger on big trades this year, I'd rather we get later picks for next year, then next year try to combine them with actually trading players with value (shocking concept for Port) to get something.

Zaine Cordy is a poor man's John Butcher. Amazing what being in the right place at the right time can do for a tall bloke.
