And we still haven't traded any of the rumoured 13 players.

Was hoping that this trade was us positioning for another move before the deadline. Cripps has now put this to bed with his comments about gaining multiple picks in the Top 30 because of the depth in the draft.

What an absolutely rubbish trade.

Port Adelaide’s List Manger, Jason Cripps, says the club is pleased to now have three picks inside the top 30.
“Our view is the upcoming draft is very strong and has good depth,” Cripps said.
“As we've traded in players over the past five years to fill specific positional gaps, we believe this is the draft to add some talent for the furture(sic).
"We were able to achieve our objective of three picks inside 30."

Brisbane will be celebrating hard every loss of ours next season.

I would think the masochists in us will also be cheering every loss because the entire hierarchy will have their heads lopped off by a port contingent three years out of the finals.

Look in all seriousness I think unless we completely bomb next year, then its probably an equatable trade. Just need to make sure we a) make the most of these two picks and b) make sure we don't bomb next year

this is ok. i'm happy to get players this year instead of next, i'm worried it's going to be a high pick but happy to get multiple kids in this year to start them going earlier so they can at least be in the afl team with Rgray, Boak and Ryder.

Before we all keep falling over ourselves at the moment can we just for a momemt realize we have 3 picks now in the top 30. Hopefully we can draft a gun midfielder, then maybe Josh battle as well as a another mid at 30. 3 more quality guys to the list.

Also we might be able to offload Lobbe as well, lets hope we can get another 2nd rounder as well. Might be able to add some good midfield talent to our list this draft.

So crap and gutted

The only saving grace you have when you have a shit season is to go to the draft early.

If we have a bad year next year it will kill us.

I don't know whether we have a big trade target we need 9 and 30 for this trade period or we really have big targets for the top 30 this year

If it was the latter why not just trade this years pick 9 for multiple later picks rather than next years Unknown pick in a tall super draft

Are we even allowed to trade our first rounder without getting one in return?

Don’t we need to use one next year?

You might just really like this draft. Plenty of good players tipped to go between 10-30.
Well that'd be great if we had pick 30, that pick could get blown out after academy picks.

This deal would've been shit even if we got pick 19 & 22.

There is something poetic about them misspelling the word future.

I'm going to speculate that there's more to this. For instance, maybe a "name" player will be traded out next year to get us back into the first round of the 2017 draft. Maybe someone like Pittard has already flagged his intention to move back home when he comes out of contract, for example.

What the ****ing ****

Why have we done this? The points system is bullshit if that is what Cripps and Davies were going on. It works the other way around in that teams without academy players or father/son players can downgrade to have more total points but makes no ****ing sense for us to do this when we need quality players.

Why do we come out worse than the two other clubs that needed/wanted us to get their trade done?

What a f***ing stupid trade.

We're trading away f***ing first round picks and we still have 1 fit KPF on the list.

That doesn't make this trade any better really. Why couldn't we just have gone with 2 first rounders next year? We have plenty of mid level talent.

Unless we can draft two ready to go midfielders, a ready to go KPF, a backup ruck, our senior players turn up next year, Ken's game plan doesn't stink and Burgess does his job, we should be fine next year and this trade will be worth it.

While we're inventing happy endings

Maybe part of this was a handshake agreement that GC or Brisbane wouldn't match our bid on an academy player like a Brad Scheer or Jacob Allison

:/

Yeah.
